Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser PC 151 Binaural Headset with Noise-Canceling Microphone & Volume ControlCustomer Review: A disservice to the brand name Summary: 1 Stars
For simpicity reasons let me paste here what I wrote to the seller:
I am very sorry (for you but mostly for myself) for needing to return the headset.
The microphone is unacceptable, I had to switch to my handset twice because the other party simply could not hear me. Tested it with my wife (I was listening on the other end) it is a thinner lower volume.
One reviewer complained about tinny sound but I figured - since it was only one) - that it may have been a one time defect in the equipment or the user.
By the way, the headband was designed for a square head, with a roundish head you look like an owl. This is a sub par construction. It is a disservice to the brand name.
In addition I would add for this review:
People were raving about comfort and in particularly that it does not fall off if you move. With due respect to those reviewers, what size hat do you wear? Since the whole band - such is the connect of a square to a round - only touches the head on the top and at the ears, it is absolutely prone to fall off if you bend over to pick something up, unless you position the top of the bend towards the rear of your head...
The sound on the phone is deep biased, missing mid-range and highs, therefor bordering on muffled.
Testing the noise canceling feature would be a humorous attempt because if the output volume is inadequate, then of course it cancels any other noise on its own without extra electrical fuss whatsoever...
Back to the drawing board. (This review was based on tel use. (USed: Nortel 452, Plantronics S10 tel amp.)

PS: Oh a funny thing: The inline volume and on-off control(???)... That is placed into the line so far away from the headset (32" to be exact) it would dangle to your thighs. So somebody rolled up the cord and secured it with a piece of wire to shorten it so you would find it where you would expect it. when you unpack it... Great comeback... Hehehehe...
Customer Review: A superb set of headphones, great for music, movies, gaming, or talking over Google Phone Summary: 5 Stars
These are just outstanding headphones, especially for the price (NOTE: I bought mine new from Amazon for $15 less than today's stated price of $58 - that is a big price jump, but I think they are still worth that amount, if less of a bargain), and are ideal of just about anything you would need them for in home use. I say "home" because they are not isolating headphones and I find they don't cancel much noise at all. So when I travel on the EL each day here in Chicago, I use earphones. Earphones don't provide the sonic quality that headsets like this Sennheiser set does, but a bomb could go off and I wouldn't hear it, not to mention the rude people you invariably meet on the train who seem to think the only way to have someone hear them over their cell phone is to shout.
I use these head phones for a variety of things. They are great if I want to watch a movie on my laptop, and are ideal if I want to play a PC game. I no longer play online MMORPGs (I lost at least a year of my life in real time to Asheron's Call and WoW, and I don't dare try to play any longer, since I actually have some life goals), but if I did, these would be great for playing with others. I've used Google Phone to talk to others over the Internet, and the sound quality is much, much, much better than talking over any regular phone. I also use these headphones while doing Rosetta Stone French lessons.
The sound quality is really outstanding in every way, with good, unmuddled bass. They are comfortable and do not become irritating after long use. The cord is very long and while I don't have a tower computer, it would easily reach outlets even if the case were place fairly far off.
I definitely recommend these headphones. They meet a large number of needs for a very reasonable price.
Customer Review: Accept no substitutes! Summary: 5 Stars
As a dedicated electronic gamer, music afficianado and all-around computer junkie, having a good pair of headphones is absolutly essential. For the last three years I've been using a Sennheiser PC150 headset, whose microphone recently gave up the ghost (no doubt due to all the abuse I'd put the thing through, but I digress) and I was left in a lurch. Pennywise and poundfoolish, I opted for a Koss headset that matched the PC150 point for point on its specifications, but was sorely dismayed with the actual product and rushed to order these instead.
While a bit pricy, the PC151 is well worth the money spent over competitor's headsets: despite having small earpieces compared to other headsets, the PC151's quality is nothing short of spectacular, with audio coming in crystal clear and free of distortion, unlike the Koss headset which left a slightly electronic, tinny layer on the end result. The smaller headpieces also make the PC151 extremily easy to wear, and the smaller, lighter design is a godsend for anyone with glasses. Microphone quality is superb, and the microphone mounting is very solid and sturdy, lacking the shakiness and flakiness of certain OTHER headsets. Sennheiser even made sure to properly color-code the headphone and microphone plugs and attach a tab to the microphone cable for easy identification, making setup a breeze.
Gaming, music, telecommunication, or even just regular computer use - the PC151 is by far one of the best headsets to use, and certainely the best for the price range. Accept no substitutes, accept no immitators!
Customer Review: An Amazing Headset! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this headset to use for an online meeting and found it to be AMAZING. Actually, this was the second headset that I bought. The first was an HP that sounded muddy, and with a right speaker/headphone that only worked when the volume was turned up to maximum. I returned the HP and got the Sennheiser because headphones are Sennheiser's business. It was the right move to make. I first tested the PC 151 with music, and found that the sound was GREAT. The frequency response range for the headphones is 18-22,000 HZ, and they really deliver. A couple of hours just flew by during that test; the music was crisp and clear with a full range of highs and lows, and a pleasure to listen to. I had my online meeting the next day and the headset performed wonderfully again. The voices were crisp, clear, natural and realistic, and my own microphone produced none of the "wind" sounds that someone else's did. (That is what the sound canceling is about - canceling microphone sounds, not ambient background sounds.) Since the PC 151 headset was made for gaming it is well-padded and was comfortable to wear through my 1.5 hour meeting and my two hours of listening to music. It does have a large-ish headband so I needed to find the right spot to place the headband to minimize its sliding around. I would definitely recommend the Sennheiser PC 151, although someone with a smaller head may prefer the Sennheiser PC 131 which is slightly smaller but has very similar headphone specifications and the same microphone specifications.
Customer Review: Excellent comfort and sound quality Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these based on excellent reviews here and on other sites. After using them for about a month, I'm very happy with them; the sound quality is excellent and they're vastly more comfortable than over-the-ear sets or any set that has an unpadded headband.
I use these for gaming and after setting a headphone profile in the games' options, they're perfect. They also don't completely block out external noise (this is a benefit for me, since I have a child who I want to hear if he wakes up at night, and a wife who gets annoyed if I ignore her ;), but even when there is external noise the sound from the phones is clearly audible. The earpads are super comfortable.
The included microphone is well-positioned (and easy to rotate out of the way when not in use) and gives nice clear sound. I haven't had any complaints from other players in games where communication is very important.
The only real knock I have against these phones is that the inline volume control can't completely mute the sound. I generally use headphones as my sole output on my PC (I don't have external speakers hooked up most of the time) and I prefer to control volume from the inline control rather than use the Windows volume control. As such, it's mildly annoying that turning the inline volume control all the way down leaves the sound at a very quiet but still audible level rather than totally muting it. This is a minor nit as it's easy enough to just take them off instead, however.
