Customer Review: Very responsive!
Summary: 4 Stars

I spent the first few hours _without_ the included foam earpads, and I was less-than-impressed: mids sounded moderately overdriven and highs were somewhat harsh. The only way to get lows was to jam them into the ear-canal, which is unsafe and unhealthy. Additionally, they didn't stay put, and had to be adjusted frequently.

So I put on the earpads....

Night.
And.
Day.

Apparently, the pads are integral to the design--the resulting sound is exceptionally balanced and detailed for such a small element. Blues? Jazz? Big Band? Trance? No problem!
It is certainly possible to put them in and forget about them. The pads cushion against any pinch-points, maintain a decently-snug fit, and the unit as a whole is lightweight to provide plenty of fatigue-free listening.

Aesthetically, they are somewhat plain, and the blue coloring offsets this fact only slightly.
The micro-inline volume control is a very nice touch, but it does not mute the signal at its lowest setting.
These are ideal for whatever portable device you might be putting in your pants or jacket pocket, but for applications that require a longer reach, you'll need to consider an extension of some sort as the cord is only 1 meter long.

Customer Review: Precise Sound
Summary: 5 Stars

I had working iPod earbuds but I bought these because I wanted to see if they were any better. At first I was a bit confused because they were not as loud as the iPod earbuds, but then I realized what was going on was that the frequency response was more even than the original earbuds. These definitely have clearer more precise response in the mid and upper ranges, and the bass is relatively subdued compared to what I was used to with the iPod earbuds. However, the clarity of sound makes these more to my liking than the iPod earbuds, which have a somewhat muddy feel towards the lower end of the frequency spectrum.

I you're looking for ear-pounding bass, do not buy these! These have great bass response, but it's not skewed the way you are probably used to hearing. I did a side-by-side comparison with the iPod earbuds and these are noticeably clearer. I've had them for a few weeks now and I'm very happy.

The carrying case is pretty cool, but I ended up leaving it at home and just wrapping the phones around the ipod. The phones are very comfortable and the fuzzy covers don't feel like they are going to slip off (I lost two of my iPod earbud covers). They look great, the cord length is perfect, and the volume remote is a handy feature.

A decent ear bud. If you realize up front these do not sound as good as Sennheiser's over ear headphones and do not really produce "Super Bass" as Sennheiser claims, then you will not be disappointed. These buds are crystal clear and produce some bass, but not what Sennheiser would have you believe. I also have a pair of the $20 Sony buds that you can pick up at your local Wal Mart. They are a few years old but the Sony buds they sell now are basically the same thing, haven't changed much.
I compared them side by side with the Sennheisers on my ipod using the same passages of the same music. The Sennheisers do not come close to matching Sony on the bass. If you listen to house music or Rap or hard rock, you want the Sonys. But on Jazz, Classical & vocal music the Sennheisers are the bomb! These babies are crystal clear. The Sonys sounded OK on Jazz and vocals but the hyper base tends to distort clarity of the sound somewhat. There is a definite difference in the sound the two buds produce.
Bottom line: Sennheisers deliver clearer, truer sound reproduction than the Sonys in the same price range but not Super bass. So depends on what kind of music you listen to.
For the price pick a pair of each.

Bought these at the suspiciously low price of $8.99. Are they Chinese "fakes"? If so, the quality is very good.

Pro's: Excellent 5-star sound for most types of music -- the bass is very good, just not mega (buy the Sonys for that)!! Delivers high volume with minimal distortion. Convenient inline volume control. I liked the unequal cords because they allow placement behind the neck, and are less obstructive.

Con's: earphones too large for my ears, hence 4 stars only; left bud kept slipping out (so I have one small eardrum!).

Overall, a good replacement set of earphones for my broken Sandisk M240 set. I can't understand the lack of bass complaints -- it's there loud and clear. Don't blame me if they're Chinese "fake"; what can I say? I was skeptical at first until I received them. I don't believe the very expensive earphones are any better than these cheap ones. Maybe I was lucky........but then I also got "lucky" on a $9 set of Sony MDR EX700 headphones that I use when I really need to crank up the bass. Regardless of origin I love these earphones and would highly recommend them for anyone who loves listening to a wide range of music (keep the Sony EX700's for heavier stuff)..

Customer Review: Good sound, poor details ...

Since I crushed my stock iPod earbuds in the elliptical trainer
at the gym, I needed to get a replacement set. After researching
for a quite a bit, it seemed that these earphones provided the
best bang for the buck.
I am not an audiophile (like anyone with an MP3 would be), and
considering my main use of the iPod is for the gym, I am not
expecting a lot from this type of setup. That said, the sound
I got from these headphones far exceeded what I was getting from
the stock Apples.
However, I almost wish I had the stocks back. Why? Well, mostly
because these headphones do NOT stay in my ear. The slightest
of tugs on the cord or least bit of tussle (tough not to do at
the gym) knock the buds from my ear canal, severely changing the
sound. Speaking of which, the cord is too short. My final nit
is with the volume control slider. I wish it were lower on the
cord. It happens to fall right between my chest and some of the
weight machines I do. So slight movements of my body in the
wrong direction have a tendency to alter the volume level.
Love the sound, hate the "ergonomics" ....
