Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser MX 75 Twist-To-Fit Stereo Sport EarbudsCustomer Review: Love these earbuds. Summary: 5 Stars
These are great earbuds. They fit very well into your ears, and the sound quality is much better than average for earbuds. These easily beat the $20-40 Sony's that most stores carry and more obviously, all of the other brands' earbuds that cost under $50.
The bass is very strong, and the mids and highs/treble sound great too. The thing that these earbuds do BEST is that they NEVER FALL OUT OF YOUR EARS. More companies need to understand that. I do not like the wrap-around-ear types. Those are just annoying. This is truly an earbud, AND they've never fallen out of my ears. They fit very securely, and it's awesome that they are adjustable.
I use these specifically at the gym. I didn't like the fact that the earbuds have a different length from their split (to get over further to the opposite ear for runners), but I just ghetto-rigged mine with electric tape so that it now is essentially the same length. I don't understand that feature because I use an MP3 player on my left arm, but there barely needs to be any additional slack to get the right earbud to my right ear.
If you fit the following description, do yourself a favor and get these earbuds:
-Active lifestyle
-Want earbuds that won't fall out of your ears/fit snugly and securely (but not wrap-around "earbuds")
-Great sound quality
You won't regret it!
Customer Review: Just Plain Horrible! Summary: 1 Stars
So I received these headphones for Christmas and loved the styling and new idea of twist-to-fit. Oh was I wrong. To begin, the cord on these is a spun cord that keeps a circular shape, so it can expand when needed and contract when less length is needed. The problem is that it gets snagged and tangled up on anything around you. One bud is shorter from the split than the other to so you can place the left, and run the line behind your neck to the other ear. Again, it gets snagged on my shirt and the right one is constantly getting tugged on, never allowing them to both stay in the right spot for an even sound. AHHH!!
To continue, the extra rubber pieces that fit behind the fold in your ear (Twist-To-Fit) makes your ears sore after a half hour of usage. For people who survive a hard workout with their ipod, these will cause more discomfort than you need. To top all this off, and complete this review, the tangling of the "spun" cord on the extra rubber pieces and the rest of it is unbearable. Taking an extra 2 minutes out of my busy day to untangle some headphones is foolish. They DO have decent sound, but are such a hassle that it ruins the entire experience. Listen to the 5-star reviews from Sennheiser employees if you want, but you will probably end up smashing these on the wall in frustration. Sorry Sennheiser, your new idea on these turned out awful.
Customer Review: Best if you need small earphones for general/active use Summary: 5 Stars
An analogy to Goldilocks (hope I have my fairy tales right)... Bigger, over-ear headphones may have better sound but they're to big away from your home component system. The inside the ear canal is too intrusive and not very safe or practical for general (usually block all outside noise so not safe) and active use (impact of your steps reverberate through the earphones). Outside the ear canal earbuds without the twist to fit system always falls off or slides just enough to throw the sound quality. The MX75 on the other hand is just right for most things.
Plusses:
-The earbuds do not fall off even when vigorously exercising.
-The sound quality is a little better than you would expect for $30 earbuds
-Waterproof, sweatproof
-removable wire clip and case are nice for this price range although I would have preferred a hard-case instead of a silicone one
-many adapters to fit many size ears (although the main body with speaker seems larger than usual -- good for me but maybe not for those with very small outer ear area)
-all-around performer
Minusses
-the bright green color is... well, bright
-being picky but the wire was coiled for packaging and I know it is still new but I am used to wires that just drape down rather than coil but this should ease with use
-that is about it
Customer Review: great comfort, decent design, poor sound Summary: 3 Stars
Pros:
-easy to put on and remove
-comfortable for running and weightlifting
In my search for the most suitable fitness earphones, I would put this among the top two out of six earphones I've tried in ear comfort, and number one in firmness/adherence.
Cons:
-bass is poor
-very high treble (I use my iPod's equalizer to reduce, sacrificing a little sound quality. It helps a little bit, but not enough)
-cord stays coiled, it gets a bit annoying
-green rubber pieces can catch on machines, clothing, etc...
This is a great product, but the rubber stoppers and ear adapters grabs onto things. If you keep these on the whole time you're working out then it's not a problem. If you're like me and sometimes have only one ear on, none on to socialize with friends at the gym, or just like to give your ears a break sometimes to cool or dry, then these might be trouble.
The rubber adapters are a little sticky and come off too easily so if you these off, they tend to grab onto various things: machinery, benches, car seats, clothing, etc. I've lost almost all of them, making my pair unusable. Sometimes it's too dark at night to find them; sometimes I don't notice while I'm walking/jogging. I've tried contacting Sennheiser about buying new inserts, but get no response.
Customer Review: Great for the Gym Summary: 5 Stars
I can't really call myself an audiophile but I am more of a headphone/earphone junkie. I've got a bunch of them that I use at various times but I never really had one that would stay in my ear when I'm sweating buckets at the gym.
Then I stumbled across these while looking for gym headphones and since I already own a Sennheiser EH-150, I was pretty sure I could trust Sennheiser to make a good product. And that trust was certainly not misplaced. These headphones are the best things possible for the gym.
PROS:
1. They stay in your ear no matter how much you move or sweat.
2. They aren't overly expensive
3. They have a neat carrying case and shirt clip
4. They can be custom fitted to your ear thanks to the different pads etc that are provided
5. They have well balanced sound
6. They feel like they'll last a while even with rugged use
CONS:
1. Bass is a little on the low side
2. Putting it on the right way and getting it to stay there might be take a few tries for some people
3. For the overly fashion oriented -- they're bright green
Overall, a great set of earphones that should be a part of every gym kit of you ask me (whether you like green or not). If you're looking for headphones that stay in your ear when you work out/jog then look no further.
