Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser MX 75 Twist-To-Fit Stereo Sport EarbudsCustomer Review: A 6-Month Review Summary: 3 Stars
I'm writing this review because if you are like me, you want all the information possible before you spend your hard-earned money!
Just as a "heads up" I've had these earphones for 6 months now and I use them with a Creative Zen Vission:M 30g. I'm also an avid gym goer.
My review: The negatives first... These earphones definitely are not the most comfortable things in the world. After about 2 hours my ears are too irritated to continue use. Also the cord has started to tear/shred exposing the wires. The sound quality itself is a little muffled compared to the earphones which came with my MP3 player. The cord also has this auto-coiling effect which is horrible. It makes the cord knot up more than usual. The "different sizes" is a farce. Your choices are extra large or large.
Now the good.... These things don't pull out of your ears that easily. Obviously with any sort of real tug they will, but normal head movement alone nor chewing will do it. Great for the gym compared to anyting else I've tried. The cord is well insolated too. Any rubbing on the cord does not produce a wind-like noise in your ears. I truly enjoy the noise-cancelling. I notice a real difference in how high I have to turn up the volume (this may aslo account for the slightly muffled noise.)
Let's sum this thing up... The cord is frayed so I'm going to by new earphones and I find myself shopping around again for something different. Hope this helps!
Customer Review: Very pleased - they stay in my ears and sound very good Summary: 5 Stars
I had given up on ear bud earphones, they would never stay in my ears. When I found these, I thought I'd try them. I have other Sennheiser earphones that I like very much, the PX-100 folding earphones. These buds are to use while exercising.
So, they stay in. I didn't think they would at first, but I have no problem with them. I use them cycling, so there is not really a lot of movement to jar them, but the original ipod earphones wouldn't stay in for more than a minute or two. These last for a 2.5 hr ride with no adjustments necessary. One of the reasons I think they stay in so well is the green silicone rubber pads which seem to resist slipping around in my ears.
The sound is very good. I should mention that the bass and overall sound will vary a good bit depending upon how you fit them into your ears. I like them so well that I'll probably just take these on trips instead of the PX-100's.
One of the wires to the earphones is longer than the other, and this is not optimal for me given how I route the wires, but its not really a problem. They are designed this way, so I suspect for some ways of routing the wires, it works much better.
It also comes with a pretty nice little silicone rubber (I think) pouch that I really like having. There is really no nice way to put them into the pouch, but I find that the wires do not seem to tangle as much as other pod style earphones, like the eymtotic ones.
Customer Review: sound great...until you stop forcing them into proper alignment with your hands Summary: 1 Stars
Sounded like a great product based on the bulk of reviews and I have to say they do exactly what they promise in that they do stay put despite jarring, sweating, moving, etc - however, I work out in a fairly noisy gym and was looking for a replacement for my Sony in-ear buds which I use for the explicit purpose of not having to hear whatever useless drivel someone else has blasting from the TV monitors nearby. These buds are useless for attenuating external noise which might be okay if you intend to use them on the street. The other and probably bigger fault with these buds is the locking system. They don't really fit my ears all that well to begin with but they definitely do work to their stated purpose of keeping them in place, which is the problem with my in ear buds, as soon as I start to sweat they tend to work their way out of my ear forcing me to continually push them back in - problem with these is that while you can adjust the fit forward and back to lock them in, there is no adjustment for in and out. So I have found that the "outriggers" tend to push the buds away from the optimal position which results in a complete loss of base and a tinny midrange. They sound really good if you can hold them in proper alignment but forget it as soon as you let go. If you work out in a gym, don't want to listen to everyone else's noise, and don't like having to crank your tunes to outrageous volume for decent sound while you are running etc, pass on these.
Customer Review: Best earbuds for running. Summary: 4 Stars
I've had my Grinch Green Sennheiser earbuds for a few years now and I think they're great or as great as earbuds can be. The color is funky and the sound is okay, but they don't move and that's what I love about them. I need my music when I'm running and these stay put. They're starting to show their age as I've lost one of the little green pads that fits in the crook of the ear, so now I'm left with a stub above the speaker which isn't very comfortable and not as secure. The plastic piece that holds the jack is starting to loosen so that I have to actually hold the end of the jack when I'm pulling it out of a device so as not to pull off its plastic sleeve. The one major complaint I have, which I've read in other reviews, is that the wires are so thin that they're constantly getting tangled. No matter how careful I am when I store them away, they always come out with at least one knot. I've seen other headphones & earbuds with a little plastic thing that slides along the wires bringing them together at the top to prevent knots and I have no idea why Sennheiser doesn't add this thingamajig. They'd be close to perfect at that point. As for comfort, I've gotten used to them. I find that they're not uncomfortable while in the ear, but if I'm been wearing them for a while and then go to take them off, THAT'S when I feel slight discomfort that goes away in seconds. Overall, great earbuds and I'll be buying a new pair very soon.
Customer Review: Doesnt fit all ears and falls apart Summary: 2 Stars
It's hard to purchase earbuds over the internet. You kind of take a shot in the dark and hope you get something you like.
I learned a few things about these earbuds. My ears are not too large, not too small.
- The green cushion pads fall off without too much abuse. The first one fell off after I had had the earphones only a week or two.
- The rather large hard plastic main part of the earbud is huge and doesn't always get in far enough in the ear to produce a good sound.
- The protrusion from the top that is meant to keep the device in your ear doesn't work all that well (again, based on ear shape), and can even make wearing them painful after a while. They stay in my ear pretty well, but I don't remember the regular Ipod headphone being much worse.
- The cord unnecessarily tries to return to a cord shape. Everytime I pull this out of the bag it is horribly tangled.
- The green color isn't as cool as I thought it would be.
I have used these earbuds for about 6 months now and I am disappointed with them. I use a Sennheiser headset at home for online gaming and it works great. I would steer clear from this one. I may try a Sony pair that got recommended to me, or just something without the obnoxious protrusions on the top. The fact that the cushions come off and are lost easily is sort of a deal breaker for me.
