Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser MX 55 Ergonomic Twist-To-Fit EarbudsCustomer Review: Great for running!! Summary: 5 Stars
I recently bought the black Sennheiser MX55 Twist-To-Fit In-Ear Stereo Headphones for $12.99 ($18.57 with standard shipping) from Amazon. I had been debating on buying the bright green Sennheiser MX75 Twist-To-Fit In-Ear Stereo Sport Headphones for $27.48 and the Sennheiser MX55VC Twist-To-Fit In-Ear Stereo Headphones w/ Volume Control for $27.59 but decided on purchasing the MX55's due to price and it's great reviews.
I'm glad I bought the MX55's because they work perfectly and are a reasonable price for an object that I abuse routinely. I use these headphones in conjunction with my Ipod Nano for about 1 hour and 15 minutes to 2 hours during my daily runs. They came with ear bud customizers but I just stick the basic buds in my ear and they don't fall out no matter how hard I whip my head about to check on the traffic around me. Even as sweat falls and pools around all sides of the bud, they don't slip out of my ear and it doesn't seem to impair the sound. The sound quality is fine, especially as I don't keep the volume high so that I can hear emergency vehicles, dogs and neighbor's saying `hi.' The cord is of average length - long - so I wrap it a few times around my armband, which doesn't look like it hurts the headphones or negatively affects the sound quality.
After my run, my ears are slightly sore where the buds have been, but that is to be expected since I use them an hour or more. I am very happy with these headphones. Their price is great and I also received a $5 rebate from Sennheiser, bringing the final cost of the headphones to $13.57 total. This rebate is good for most all of the Sennheiser headphones:

Customer Review: Best headphones I have found for running Summary: 5 Stars
When I look for headphones to run with, I look for something that is cheap (since they'll be getting drenched with sweat), and comfortable. I've pretty much gone with earbud headphones in the past, and it used to be that them falling out and always adjusting them was a fact of life. Not anymore.
I have no problem with these falling out or moving around. The included bag of accessories is very helpful. There are soft earbud covers, and also a larger rubber shroud to replace the one that comes on the earbud already. In addition, there are six replacement discs in three different sizes for the top piece, to help accommodate different ear sizes. I've had no problem wearing these on my long runs which easily go over 90 minutes.
Sound quality certainly seems to be good, although you could say that bass is a bit lacking. Honestly, sound quality is not a factor for me when I'm running, since the music isn't really that essential for the run. I'm certainly not going to buy expensive headphones to have them fail.
Price is definitely the main thing that got me to buy these.... I got them at $7.99 with free shipping (through Prime), and they're currently only $12.99, which is very low for headphones. The cheapest I've ever really bought headphones is $6-8, so spending a little bit more for something that I'm going to be happier with isn't a big deal for me.
I wouldn't recommend any other headphone over these for running, there's simply no need. If you're looking for something a bit fancier, check out Sennheiser's other twist to fit headphones (such as the MX 75)
Customer Review: MX 55 Street w/o Volume Control Summary: 4 Stars
I got this from amazon for 12.99 and shipping. Which is pretty much the price of those JVC marshmallow headphones in Wal-Mart, very nice even for a low level Sennheiser. Now I've never used a "twist to fit" earphone before and I tried a lot of different arrangements with add-ons before deciding that the factory default works the best. I've never really had problems with headphones falling out of ear before so I didn't notice how this new fit is any better at holding the buds in. And if you have the wrong configuration, this earphone can be painful to wear. As of now, with the default setting, I can comfortably wear this for 4-5 hours straight without noticing anything. Now I've noticed that with a looser and more comfortable fit like I'm using now, the bass isn't very strong. But as far as sound goes, this is pretty amazing for ear buds, everything is really clear. Also, the cords can be a pain as it refuse to become straight and stay in the spring shape it came in.
Pros
Great sound quality
Cons
Uncomfortable if not wore right
Cords curls up
Poor isolation
Personally, I still think the good outweight the bad, the sound quality is THAT MUCH better than the rest of the headphone under $50 that I've tried(there ain't no way I'm paying for a Bose in ear headphone)
Also, when I got my MX55 without volume control from Amazon, the 2 headphone cords are of the same length.
Customer Review: Great Idea, Bad Execution Summary: 1 Stars
The Sennheiser MX55 earphones are overall a failed product. The sound quality is mediocre at best. Sometimes the sound will muffle because it can't handle any bass whatsoever and when there's no bass the sound seems so tiny. The sound feels more outside your head than inside, which is not good. As far as the stability of the earphones on your ears, it's only average. I'm a baseball pitcher which requires a lot of long distance jogging. After a game when I'm running poles, I find myself pausing a lot trying to fix them back into my ear. When you run, the wire will bounce off your chest, and because the earphones are not very secure, it won't be long before you have to twist them back in your ear. This is very tedious and after about a week of putting up with it, I stopped using them. The case it comes with is pretty much pointless because it doesn't protect the earphones at all, only the wires. I regret getting these earphones, I would not recommend them to anyone. I got some Philips ear phones that have a plastic piece to wrap around the back of your ear and they work like a charm, the sound quality is average on those but its so nice not having them fall out when exercising. If you're looking for sound quality then get the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds, they're amazingly crisp and the bass is great.
So, whether you're looking for sound quality or exercise phones, the MX55 is not it. Check out something else.

Customer Review: Gravely disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
After reading the solidly positive reviews here and receiving a personal recommendation from my brother, I had high hopes for these headphones, which I sought as a new pair for running and working out. Alas, my hopes ended in disappointment -- the fit of these headphones did not work for me AT ALL. I could affix them in my ears, and they seemed to sit stably there, but they would never "seal" so that I got decent sound quality from the speakers. They sounded like, well, small speakers that were just a little too far away from one's ears. I never even tried running in them or taking them to the gym -- since even sitting in a quiet room they didn't fit well enough to sound good, I felt there was no point seeing if they magically improved with motion, moving air, and lots of ambient noise. They weren't uncomfortable, either, I should add; they just didn't fit properly.
Yes, I understand the intended usage, and no, I'm not physically odd -- I'm an average-sized dude with perfectly normal ears. And I tried all the included sets of little foam doodads to adjust the fit, to no avail. Obviously these headphones work satisfactorily for quite a number of people, but they fell seriously short of acceptability for me.
It's a shame, because the speakers themselves are clearly very good -- but good speakers that won't sit in the ear to be heard properly are no use at all.
