Customer Review: Excellent value
Summary: 4 Stars

You can get these for around $20 which is simply an awesome value. I find it hard to believe you will find better sounding headphones at that price, and even at a bit higher price.

I use them mostly with my PC for music and games and with my xbox 360 which is connected to a VGA monitor and PC speakers.
The good:
* very comfortable. Lightweight and padded on the ears and head band. Can be worn for hours even by bald people.
* cord is long enough for most uses.
* build quality is excellent thought I only have them for a few days so far so can't testify on durability over time
* most importantly - sound quality is very good. Bass is not the best out there and could use more punch to it but overall sound is very balanced and very detailed. MUCH better than your average mp3 player earphones and even better than much pricier headphones I have. I don't feel that the bass level is a problem but it would be nice to have a bit more. However, for the price it's really top notch.

The bad:
* these are not noise cancelling or noise isolating headphones. They are not expected to be any of that so there is no "surprise" here but still for a pair of over the head/over the ear headphones i would expect some more isolation.
* could use some more bass (see above)

Overall this is a great product which I highly recommend as an entry level headphones for home use.
I got the 201s model which I believe is exactly the same as the 201.
Note that they come with a "small" and "large" connectors but no case to carry them and also they are not a folding type.

Customer Review: Sound Great, Look Dorky
Summary: 4 Stars

I was originally shopping for phones for a friend to use on a long flight, so since comfort was important, I settled on circumaural earphones (phones with earpads that completely enclose the ear rather than sit on top of them). These got great reviews on audiophile web sites, so I checked them out in person at the local audio emporium. I'm not an audiophile at all, but have a decent ear and was quite pleased in comparison to much more expensive sets. Unfortunately, though, I couldn't get a good sense of how they would sound with my music because the audio store only gave me a choice between some really crappy club music or some sonically lean Bob Dylan.

Anyway, now having checked them out with my own music library, I'm very happy with the sound. Since I live alone and am not a PC gamer, I never gave much thought to using headphones with my PC, but now listening to the great sound, I'm a convert. I'd like to use them with my mp3 player as well, so I wish they had a better-looking design. If Sennheiser had left the silver off the earcups and narrowed the headband a bit those minor modifications alone would have made a huge improvement in the looks. But these sound so good for the price, I'll live with occasionally looking a little dorky out in public.

EDIT: Uh, no - I just looked at myself in the mirror with these on, and they're just too big and ridiculous-looking to wear outside. On a bus, trip or plane ride, yes, but walking around town, no way. Pity. It'll be hard to go back to earbuds after these, regardless of quality. There's nothing like a circumaural headphone.

Customer Review: Great bang for the buck! Comfortable!
Summary: 4 Stars

I use these at work for many hours at time for music and podcasts.

Pros:

-Good believable soundstage. The music sounds more like it is surrounding you rather than coming from between your ears.
-Overall very pleasant, non-fatiguing sound.
-Very neutral sounding headphones from the midrange up.
-Lightweight and very comfortable for long usage. Very little pressure against the head, and easy on the ears.
-Efficient. Very easy to drive with a portable player. No need for headphone amp.
-Super long cord

Cons:

-Weak bass. Not good for R&B/Rap music unless you don't mind EQing or bass boosting to get the desired sound.
-Very plasticky construction, though it is to be expected at this price point
-Non-foldable
-Due to the lightweight and all-plastic construction, you can easily hear vibrations if anything is rubbing against the headphones or cord.
-Cord coming from both sides of the headphones instead of only on the one side.
-The light pressure of the headphones and cheap foam padding doesn't allow for good sound isolation. At moderate music volume, you can still make out what the person next to you is saying.
-Super long cord may not be ideal for portable usage.

Overall, a great set of cans and in terms of sound quality, I would put it up against anything $50 and under. The majority of the "Cons" above are expected for cans that cost this much. My only real disappoint is the lack of the bass, which is the main reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Customer Review: Amazing set of headphones,
Summary: 5 Stars

I received these cans the day after ordering with no extra charge.

That was irrelevant to my review.

I do music production for an amateur band, and my girlfriend, the lead singer, desired a set of over-the-ear headphones. I decided to purchase a cheap set, and my expectations for a set under $20 weren't all that high. I spotted these here on Amazon and, after reading some glowing reviews, I decided to purchase these.

Upon opening the headphones, I immediately threw them on my head and searched through my music library for the most dynamic music I could find, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good this set was at blowing my mind. Sure, there are cans that give you much better sound quality out there, but for this price? I seriously doubt it.

They're also insanely comfortable, even to my pansy ears. I've worn them for hours with only a hint of discomfort, and that was simply because, as previously stated, my ears are pansies.

All of the range you could want is there; bass, highs and lows are all represented well, with no frequencies being overpowering. The bass is especially nice, as I am a big Rage Against the Machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers fan.

Overall, these are well worth the money, and if your lady is cool they'll make her happy as well. If you're in need of a lady these will attract several and you can pick from amongst the crowd that they inevitably attract. If you yourself are a lady, I would imagine the process is the same as the previous one except with dudes.

Customer Review: Sennheiser MUST be undercutting everybody....
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't see how they could undercut even their own headphone lines with these inexpensive and amazing sounding cans.

For the $20 I got them for on Amazon I cannot think of another set of headphones that sound this good anywhere up to $80. For in ear phones the Skullcandy Inkd are decent, but these HD201's are fullsize over the ear and bring something wonderful to the table.

Almost completely transparent, uncolored audio, delivered with a spacial imaging that makes music sound real. Like you could reach out and sock the trumpet player in the jaw for spraying you.

I could not believe my ears. I own around 15 pairs of headphones of all varieties, HD435's, HD205's, Grado SR60's, you name it. And for price vs performance nothing even comes close to this.

Pros
Crystal clear uncolored audio
Life like spacial imaging
Inexpensive
Well built and comfortable

Cons
low sensitivity making the volume low on portable players
lower bass response (but still pleasant)

The only 2 cons can be corrected just by having a good source to plug into. Out of the box with no EQ I loved it. With a little EQ tweaking to flatten the frequency response even further, I am having to re-listen to my entire collection because I am hearing things I never heard before.

I bought 3 pair. So that if they stop making them I will have enough to last me the rest of my life. They are THAT good. And at $20 easy to buy 3 pair.
