The Sennhheiser HD-280 headphones are a decent lot, with good sound to them. I believe the manufacturer is using a styrofoam like product in the cushions that some people may not like. The headphones feel pretty good when you put them on. After wearing the headphones for an hour or so, I find the top band a bit uncomfortable; of course I may need to wear them in (I have only used them for a total of a few hours so far [I never intended to use them as my primary headphones]). The headphones were reasonably priced. I do like the single cord and and the screw-on 1/4" plug adapter. The headphones do reduce outside noise - a bit, but they do not eliminate it (nor does it seem that they were ever intended to). Now that I have had them and used them a bit, would I buy them if I were to do it all over again - YES.Customer Review: Headphones that are NOT durable, but have other GOOD attributes.

Overall I LOVE these headphones. The quality is superb. I feel the Mids especially the Hi's are the star features as I experienced those to be very sharp when listening to the headphones. As a person who is still new to production I felt these headphones allowed me to mix/master/edit a lot easier. I have peers who have had Audio Technica's and SONYs and were impressed by how well I was able to mix/master tracks. I had to tell them......it was from the headphones!
First negative thing I could say is durability. I feel the sweat that eventually accumulates in the headphones breaks down the ear pieces. Also, after cranking tracks up to high volumes also damages the ear phones making the headphones crackle (whenever there was a song that had a lot of Los and Mids, it would sound like there was a little ball jumping around in the headset).
Secondly, do not sit for long hours mixing/editing without thinking you are going to be comfortable. Your ears will sweat, and some peers told me that they felt kind of claustrophobic. I guess that part depends on the particular individual; however, the main thing about the duration of these headphones will get soggy.
For the price of the headset I feel it is an overall great product. The one thing you may want to ultimately decide is Quality Vs. Durability.

This product has survived the last 3 years of use and abuse. The construction is outstanding. The connection is obviously gold plated, the wire is coiled to allow expandability, and the entire set feels solid. With even slight sound running, the system is nearly 100% noise reducing. Sound is wonderful - Bass is deep and music is clear. My only complaint would be discomfort from use after 4-5 hours from the mere displeasure of having something covering your ears for that long.Customer Review: Had these for years now, love them!

When it comes to closed headphones, it doesn't get much better than this! Sure a pair of top quality open cans will give you better sound in a quiet room! I like to listen to my music in the *real world,* where most people would rather not hear my music, and I would rather not have their life mixed with my tunes... Great in noise environments, and on the plane. There is a reason why there is an airtraffic controller version of these with a mic, the sound of the outside world disappears when you put these on...
