Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser HD 212 Lightweight Semi-Circumaural Headphones - SilverCustomer Review: Amazing Headphones With An Unbeatable Price! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best pair of headphones you can get for under 100 dollars. These look nice, are very comfortable and light-weight, have AMAZING sound, and replaceable cables in case they snap, or simply stop working. You can also remove the earcups for more portability. Some say that there is too much bass on these earphones. There is more bass than other headphones, some may like it, some may not (I personally love it). The cord is generous, just about 9 feet long, but it gets in the way sometimes. It's hard to put my MP3 player in my pocket and have to stuff an additional 5 feet of cord in my pocket just so the cord doesn't drag on the ground. I understand that it was intented for home entertainment (ie. connecting to your stereo and going across the room), but it's a bit inconvenient if you're going to use it for your MP3 player. That is the ONLY problem with these earphones, and definitely don't let that steer you away from these headphones, because this set of headphones will make your ears and your wallet happy.
Customer Review: Bass intensity through the roof Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these yesterday, so my impression of them might still change, but I think I can say for sure that their bass is so heavy it's hard to control. I know a few people who appreciate boomy bass, but I surely don't fit into that category. Luckily, apart from bass they handle the mid-range very well. As for durability, I had HD 477s before and these are pretty similar in terms of design. The HD 477s stayed on the head even when I was working out and they seemed quite sturdy. These make the exact same impression.
All in all, these are pretty good, especially for those who can't live without trance, dance or techno.
Update: During the last 3 months of using these I have grown quite impressed with their performance. The sound is extremely crisp, clear, transparent, detailed. I use an EQ setting that reduces the intensity of bass by 15dB and I've found that it helps balance the sound and make certain motives "visible" for the ear. To say that I recommend these would be an understatement.
Customer Review: Nice Bass! Summary: 4 Stars
I ordered these headphones last year and am overall fairly pleased with them. If you're looking for very accurate headphones, these aren't for you, as they tend to emphasize the lower frequencies. On the other hand if you like music with a lot of bass, buy these now! I have Logitech Z-Cinema computer speakers (which sound fantastic) and I often forget I have these headphones on. The bass sounds a lot like that of a subwoofer, and the mids and highs sound decent, too. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because they can be a tiny bit uncomfortable after extended use. They are a bit snug on my ears and tend to get warm (although this is nice walking to class in the winter). I should also mention the length of the cord. I have mixed feelings about the mammoth 10' cord. It's nice when I'm in my room as I can lay in bed and still have them plugged into my computer, but everyday listening it can get a bit annoying. I usually have to bury the cord in my pocket or backpack which isn't a huge deal.

I use my computer every day as often as I can. I listen to music constantly. When I'm not, I either playing a video game or watching a movie. I needed some headphones that had a good sound to price ratio. These are definitely some of the best sounding headphones I have tried in this price range. They even compete sound wise to some upper end hp's. I was told that they were super comfortable, which influenced my decision to buy them. I disagree that you could where them for 2+hours and not have redear. They were not as comfortable as I thought they were going to be. They are semi-circumaural, which means that they rest slightly on your ear. Full circumaural hp's are what are needed for true comfort. You will pay a larger price though for circumaural hp's with the quality of sound that these offer. These hd212's replace my previous sony mdr-v150s, so I moved up in comfort level, but still keep in mind these aren't hp's that you can wear forever. Sound quality is awesome though.
Customer Review: A real bargain Summary: 5 Stars
I checked out several headphones over the past couple of weeks ranging in price from $25 to $350. It was difficult to find stores that actually had demo phones available. I read some of the reviews on Amazon and thought that the reviews of the Sennheiser line seemed to be fairly positive. As I have a preference for heavier bass, I thought the HD-212's
might be a good fit. I found a store in the area that happened to have many of the Sennheiser line available on demo. I was really blown away by the HD-212's. The sound was fantasic particulary at the price. I am not an audio professional but the HD-212's sounded at least as good as many of the much more expensive phones.
They also sound great when I connect them to my Yamaha keyboard. I would highly recommend the HD-212 phones for anyone, especially if you like heavier bass. In my opinion though, the bass does not overwhelm the other tones. It is crisp and clear but not overly dominant.
