Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser HD 212 Lightweight Semi-Circumaural Headphones - SilverCustomer Review: Work well for the price Summary: 4 Stars
These $50 headphones are my first exploration into "nice" headphones (over $30). At first they seemed a little uncomfortable, pressing against my head tightly but I had little issue since thats what helps block sound out. Recently I laid down awhile with them on and I found the headphones were more broken in and less pressing on the head (so much more comfortable) I would say I've used them for 15 hours and that they have been broken in enough sound and comfort wise to make me happy with them. You can look dorky wearing them but I dont know of any headphones that would make you look cool. The main thing you may not notice from the picture is that the headband curves to the shape of the head so it lies more on the back of the head at a more of an angle than most. Oh yeah the bass! Its amazing and it doesn't detract from the rest of the sound, all the sound comes in crisp it just seems like your in a room with a subwoofer--its some of the cleanist bass i've ever heard and i've had lots of experience with listening to music in cars, houses, movie theaters...so on ...so I would definately reccomend these especially for HIP HOP and Trance/Techno anything with a good beat!!
Customer Review: Very Nice. Summary: 4 Stars
I have been a Sennheiser user for about 6 years. A friend referred me to them for the ability to not give you listening fatigue. So i bought a pair of HD400. I fell in love.
Recently i saw these HD-212pro and liked what i read bout them and decided to upgrade. I listened to the HD-202 vs HD-212pro. Not a huge difference. The HD-212pro had stronger smoother bass so i decided on these as i listen to some pretty bassy music from time to time.
I got them yesterday and they have had probably 5 hours burning in. Treble at first was a bit muffled but as the parts have loosened up they have become clearer and imaging has become better. BASS... Its more like EXTREME bass on these. I feel like i have subwoofers on my head there is so much bass and it goes so deep. I have had to turn the bass down on my AV reciever and on my desktop computer beacause there is too much bass on flat. On the ipod they sound perfect. Isolation is really good. I can't hear anything from the outside when i have them on.
I love these headphones. Strong, comfortable, and they sound great. If you love bass then these are for you.
Very happy.
Customer Review: Great Headphones Summary: 5 Stars
I just got these headphones today, and I'm loving them. I've been using them to listen to music on my laptop for about 4 hours straight now, and they're still comfortable. Granted, they get a little warm, and after a little while they make the area around my ears slightly sweaty, but that's going to happen with any large headphones.
The sound quality is great, especially considering that they aren't very expensive. Without even having the volume very high, the bass can actually vibrate my ears, as if I had small subwoofers on my head. I love that. I'm one who likes to have my music so loud that it'll make me completely deaf by the time I'm 25, and these headphones seem more than capable of giving me that kind of sound. I've been through a lot of pairs of stereo headphones in my life, and I've always been partial to Sony, so ordering headphones of a different brand name worried me. However, after hearing these phones and wearing them around for a bit, I've become a fan of Sennheiser headphones for sure.
I'd definitely recommend these headphones to anyone who wants great quality, and great comfort, for a great price.
Customer Review: Great headphones with DJ bass emphasis Summary: 4 Stars
I am on a quest to find the ideal portable headphones, and the Sennheiser HD 212 is a great contender in this category. On the other hand, I did not keep them. I purchased two different Sennheiser models over the past month, and both were excellent. If you listen to lots of drum heavy music or just like lots of bass, then these are probably the headphones for you. If you like more balance in your music listening, then the HD 497 is probably a better choice. Now, to the main reason I did not keep either pair. Although I knew neither pair folded or had a convenient storage unit. I was not prepared for the size of either set of headphones. Neither is what I would call portable. I travel frequently, and the jet engine noise ruins my entertainment experience as I am sure most people would agree. The closed design appeals to me, but there is no way to fit these phones in my carry-on bag. If you are planning to use these at home or at your workplace, they are a great buy. If you plan to take them with you all the time, I would suggest looking elsewhere as I am. I do recommend these based on sound quality, but not on portability.
Customer Review: Great sound but a little uncomfortable Summary: 4 Stars
I've had these for about 5 months and they've not broke, and If they do, almost everything is replaceable. The sound is actually very good. They do have a LOT of bass but nothing seems to be recessed or muddied by it. So for rock, hip hop, and techno (which is what I listen to) they are ideal but maybe not so much for other genres. To tame the bass, I use the lounge EQ on my iPod which by the way they can be driven by so no amp necessary. Another set you may have looked at are the AKG K81s, and I heard those side by side with these, and these have much warmer mids better bass quality (less distortion) and I love the crispness of the highs.
Pros:
durability
Lots of bass (could be a con for some)
replaceable parts
easily driven off a PMP
Cons:
Comfort (your ears can get sore after a while
Not really circumaural
Lots of bass (could be a pro for some people)
Sennheiser HD212s > AKG K81s
please, whatever you decide, don't buy Skullcandy (If your looking for bass, these even have more, better quality bass than Skullcandy)
