Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser HD 202 Dynamic HeadphonesCustomer Review: Decent set of headphones. Summary: 4 Stars
Bought these for $20 with free Prime 2 day shipping. I was excited to get them because of all the good reviews. Mainly got a pair of headphones for the winter so it keeps my ears warm as well as lets me listen to music. Usually I use a pair of Ultimate ears 700 in-ears and these Sennheisers are pretty good.
Fit:
Out of the box, they are pretty tight, they were a snug fit on my kinda wide head. But I don't get headaches from it. I have used it for a day and they have stretched a bit and are very comfortable now. After a while though, your ears will get a little hot but that wont be a problem if you are like me, getting the headphones for winter to keep warm.
Sound/noise cancellation:
Coming from a pair of in-ear Ultimate Ears 700, these sound pretty good. Not as good as the UEs but its decent for a pair of $20 headphones. However it is a little bass heavy and sometimes the bass drowns out the vocals. This may be good for some but I like to have a balance, not too much of something. The noise cancellation is great, almost comparable to the in-ears but of course the in-ears would cancel more noise since they are actually in your ear canal. I use these mostly on the train and its the perfect balance between noise cancelling and outside noise. I can't hear other people's conversations and I could hear what stop I am at. Sound leaking is very minimal, unless you are someone that likes to blast their music. In a quiet room, you can barely hear anything coming out when it is at a suitable volume level for that environment.
Cable:
The cable seems durable, but time will tell. However the cable is very long. It does come with a cable management mechanism where you wrap the cable around a elliptical contraption. It does a good job and keeps the wire wrapped but the contraption itself is kind of on the large side.
Overall, for $20, it is a very well made product. I would recommend it. One reason of the main reasons why I like it is cause the sound doesnt leak much, I hate when other people can hear my music. I would recommend this to someone looking for a pair of headphones.
Customer Review: Bang for the buck! Summary: 5 Stars
Strengths: Superb sound quality, very lightweight, comfortable fit
Weaknesses: Lightweight construction vs. durabilty. Cord is a 'Y' type (split with leads to each ear rather than a single left-ear lead).
Wow. I will try hard not to gush, but these headphones are terrific! I'm not a tech guy, so I can't really critique them on that point with any authority, but to my ear they have amazing range regardless of whether I'm listening to jazz, classical, rock, video games.... The bass is particularly warm and rich and the treble is crisp; even Sousa (lots of high and low "siss! boom! bah!" going on at once) is no match for them. In the past I've spent a lot more for cans that weren't anywhere near this good. I have seen these advertised for $50; I spent $30 for mine and consider that a very reasonable price. Amazon's current pricetag ($20 at time of writing) is a steal, in my opinion.
I won't dispute anyone's claims to the contrary, but I've found them to be a great fit. I wear glasses, and the soft leatherette cups fit over them and my ears perfectly. The lightweight headband and ear pads make them wearable even for long periods of time. It *may* also make them less durable, but only time will tell. They're so light they feel a little flimsy, but they certainly aren't fragile; gentle handling should guarantee a long and great-sounding life.
The six-foot cord length is a plus, and if that's too long you can take up the slack with a combination cord spool/waistband clip -- great for wearing the headphones while active or for keeping the cord from getting under foot while seated. The cord is a 'Y' arrangement (separate left and right-ear leads) fitted with a 1/8-inch plug (fits most computer and portable equipment jacks) and comes with a 1/4-inch adapter (fits most home stereo/theatre equipment). The Y is a drawback, in my opinion, but a very minor one.
Forget noise-cancelling. I'm sure you could find *technically* better phones, but I doubt if you'll find any better sounding or more versatile ones for the price.
Customer Review: Great Headphones. Could use a shorter cord. Summary: 4 Stars
I just bought these today, and I've been using them all day long trying to make up my mind on them. The first thing I noticed was that the cups are held on by a pivoting joint. This is also the mode of adjustment. I've gotten used to it, but I have my doubts about how long these cups will stay on. I'm not going to factor this in to the score I give though, because I haven't owned them long enough to tell how they will hold up.
The second thing I noticed was that the cord is very long. As a person who has owned many pairs of headphones (and I mean a lot), I have had several with long cords like this pair. These headphones, however, are the only pair with a long cord that are touted as being portable. Sennheiser attempts to fix this problem by include a massive oval piece of plastic around which you are meant to wrap the cord. Compared to the alternative (stuffing a big wad of cable into my pocket), this does seem like a good idea. But a better idea would have been to just have a short cord.
I've seen other reviews of people saying that the cups don't fit around their ears. It's pretty clear that they aren't SUPPOSED to go over your ears, so I don't know what they're whining about. From my experience thus far, these headphones are very comfortable. Not only is the padding on the cups quite nice, but there is also a layer of padding on the underside of the band.
The sound quality is pretty good. The bass response is superb, and highs are preserved quite nicely. If anything, it is lacking ever so slightly in the midranges, creating somewhat of a scooped out sound. Rock and alternative music sounds okay on these, but I would like a little more in the mid ranges. They do classical music quite well. But where they really shine is with hip hop. These headphones do booming bass like no other.
Out of any headphones I've owned thus far, these are definitely the best value for money. I actually paid more than they are listed for here, and I still feel like I got a great deal. I'll be sure to update this review when they break.
Customer Review: These Lightweight and Portable HEADPHONES are unreal! Summary: 5 Stars
A couple years ago I was shopping a PRO SET of HEADPHONES for Studio/Home/Long Distance Travel to replace some Sony PRO Studio's that were cosmetically trashed by the salt water elements where I live and could not be repaired.
I was turned on to Senheisser and ended up with Sennheiser HD-280 Professional Headphones which are amazing but a different class in size and price. I bought them on Amazon and at check-out the authorized seller offered me these for about $25.00 more so I went for it even though I had just bought some lightweight Sony's for about the same price and was not unhappy with them at all so it was really an impulse buy.
But enough about me let's talk about these headphones. When the box came I of course listened to the PROS first and was not at all disappointed, in fact I was more than impressed and it takes a lot to get me excited, sound-wise. So, I was curious to try out these and see how they compared.
They are sleek, have a very long straight skinny cord and are awesome for listening to music while doing housework when the wife is home, for use with my laptop and even when on my Desktop for simple convenience but the best part is that these actually sound almost as good as my PRO Senheirrer's! The two major differences are that these are open (the Pro model is closed) and of course these are highly portable. So each has their own appropriate application but these for general and day to day portable headphones you are getting better than BOSE sound for under $30.00---AWESOME! I cannot recommend these enough.
**The only potential downside which is only a potential downside is the shape of the ear cups. They are oval and at about a 30 degree angle so if you have above average ear size this could be awkward or even possibly uncomfortable. I am a large guy (6'2" and around 220lbs) and I found them a bit annoying the first month or so but am completely used to them by now and I use them almost daily, sometimes for hours at a time and they are completely comfortable and I can hardly tell I am wearing them.
Customer Review: Headphones that keep you in your own little world. Summary: 5 Stars
I was very reluctant to order headphones via the internet. Thankfully, this product had so many reviews that I couldn't help but order them. Now that I've received them, I know that I didn't make a mistake in my choice.
I'm the type of person that needs to be completely disconnected from the outside world when listening to music; wherever I am, be it at home or on the go, I don't want any interruption. These headphones are absolutely perfect for that. Example: at this very moment I am donning the Sennheiser HD 202 headphones while my boyfriend is exactly 5 feet away from me. By-the-by, he's 5 feet away from me while playing guitar along to some music he has blaring from his itunes.
I hear nothing.
There's muffled sound when a song of mine may be finished and there's the paused lag between songs; however, asides from that bit of time I can only see his movements but I can't make the sound while my music is playing.
In regards to comfort: the padding is perfect for extended wear. I mean that in regards to the head as well as the ears. It's not so much that you feel like you've wrapped your head in a pillow...or so excessive that you couldn't travel with these. They are just enough so you are comfortable traveling with them or wearing them at home.
Also, I'm the type of person to use headphones until they break. From owner experience, I already know that these headphones will last me a while. The length of the cord is perfect for playing an instrument, working with music, or actively doing tasks while listening to music. On top of that, the accessory to wind the cord is wonderful so you're not tangled when you're sitting still.
The sound is excellent for the price. If you're a bass-junkie you may be a bit disappointed, as it's rather average. Not mediocre, by any means. The bass is just regular - decent.
All-in-all, this product was well worth more than the money it cost to get them. Pee.ess. Bless Amazon for the free (not to mention fast) shipping.
