Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser EH-150 Dynamic Sound Evolution Hi-Fi Stereo HeadphonesCustomer Review: Great detail in these inexpensive phones Summary: 4 Stars
I have been using these for a while now and they seem pretty good to me. (disclaimer: I am not an audio professional, nor do I have any expensive headphones to compare with.)
They have great detail in both low and high end. In fact, I can hear things in some of my music that I never noticed before in either my small speakers or in the several foam on-ear style or earbud styles. This is good when listening to original CDs, or HQ mp3/AAC, but it did reveal some audio glitches and artifacts in lower quality mp3 that I had just not heard before...
I tested these with a frequency response program on my Mac, show as having 25-15,600 Hz (in my ears, your ears may vary...) . This range is better than most of my other inexpensive headphones and earbuds.
They do a good job of blocking out external noises-- great if you are in a bit of a noisy space.
And, yes, they were a bit tight on the head initially. To fix that, I got a stack of cd/dvd cases that was a bit wider than my head and allowed these headphones to be expanded by them for several overnight stretches (pun intended). This has helped too lessen the pressure they put on my ears and head to the point that they are now OK to wear for long periods. NOTE: this procedure is at your own risk, as I do not think it is officially endorsed by the mfg. ;-) Do not overstretch them, as the headband material, while flexible, undoubtedly has limits to the stretch it can take.
Great Bargain Headphones.
Customer Review: I have had these for almost 2 years now, and they are still kickin'! Summary: 5 Stars
These headphones i got for my birthday the year before last, and here it is coming up again in a few months. I have bought Sennheiser headphones before, such as the hd 202, and earbuds. The HD 202's lasted me a good year. while the earbuds lasted 6 months. And my first pair along time ago lasted along time as well. So i knew it was coming from a great company! But these headphones are special. when i am not running or weight lifting I will use these over any other earbuds. i actually get disappointed in those earbuds because the sound quality on these are spectacular. you can hear everything that your music can offer. you will notice new instruments in the background as well. now i notice the price is like over 100 and they are worth that. but according to my father they were $45 or around there back then. maybe a sale i don't know. but another factor is, durability. This pair have outlasted I would say around 15-20 pairs of earbuds! i listen to music a lot and exercise a lot while listening to my cruddy earbuds.( they are only cruddy in comparison)and time after time i have to buy new earbuds because they break, while these keep on livin'! so I would highly recommend these for almost every use besides exercise. Long car rides plain rides or just casual listening. the cord is extra long which i like so i can plug them into my speakers at night on my computer so i don't wake anyone up when i want some loud music while i draw. well i have talked enough, but I do love these headphones!
Customer Review: Outstanding Headphones! Summary: 5 Stars
Here's my take on the 150's.
Comfort: Admittedly, right out of the box, the headphones were a little tight and caused minor discomfort to my ears. However, after about half an hour of use, they wore in and fit perfectly to my head. After that, they were extremely comfortable, and I could barely notice they were on.
Sound: These headphones sound AMAZING. The base is incredibly strong (even for songs with low base lines). You seriously get lost in the sound of these headphones. Honestly, these are comparable to bose.
Durability: They seem pretty sturdy, and I know that Sennheiser uses very good materials, so there is really no problem here. I just put them in my backpack, and I don't have any problems.
I primarily use these phones for my ipod and computer, so the cord (10 feet) is a little long for me, but it's really not much of a problem as I just tied the cord. However, I can see the length of the cord being a big benefit for people who like to move around while listening to their music.
Noise canceling: Ok, these don't cancel noise with a frequency like other more expensive headphones do, but I find that these work just as good as, if not better than those. Because the cups fit perfectly around your ears, the sound is insulated very well, so little noise escapes or comes in. You definitely can't hear people talking around you.
All in all, for the price, these are the best headphones you could buy.
Customer Review: Not As Good As The Reviews Would Suggest Summary: 4 Stars
So I recieved my EH-150 headphones in the mail today (quick shipping/good packaging) and was a little disappointed when I tested the quality since I had read all these rave reviews. The sound is ok... good at best... and the headphones have a hard time handling any sort of bass at higher volumes. I'm not an "audiophile" to say but I know what really clear music is supposed to sound like. This is my first pair of non-Delta headphones so I can't compare them to any others but when the volume is turned up loud you can clearly hear that buzzing sound that you hear when speakers can't handle the imput.
So I listen to a lot of rock music and tested these out on my favorite bands Tool and Thrice so keep in mind that I like listening to them loud. I also like loud, deep, crunchy guitars sounds and hard drops so the headphones need to be able to handle a lot. I've also come to realize that I've probably destroyed my hearing which is why I insist that the treble be so high on my equalizer.. so this all may just be that I'm going deaf.
I'm having no problems with the headphones fitting over my ears and have been wearing them for about an hour with no discomfort... yet. Those are my two cents... I bought these primarily to wear at Starbucks when I'm studying so they should do the job... but I wouldn't want anyone buying them thinking that the sound is going to be crystal clear... especially people who like their music loud.
Customer Review: Excellent treble, bass, and sound stage, mids are great but could be better. Summary: 4 Stars
I would first off like to state that I cannot see "Ease Of Use" as an attribute for headphones. Plug in. Put on head. There are very few simpler products. Toothbrushes are more complicated to use than headphones. This being said, these are by far the best consumer grade headphones I've used. Having naturally perfect pitch and being used to headphones costing upwards of 1k because of my pickiness, what's bad sounds awful and what's good sounds bad, only the exceptional I can actually enjoy listening to. I expected these headphones to perform at a far lower level than reference. To be honest, I had only bought them as travel headphones and because of the Sennheiser name. The thing that most headphones suffer from is definition. It's harder to tell apart the aspects of what you're listening to, and they sound muted and slurry. However that wasn't the case with these. The treble is definite, ringing, and clear, with no hiss. The bass is just right, and punches, without overpowering the more delicate sections. The mids are crisp and tuned, you can tell every word apart. As far as the sound stage goes, where the music sounds to be coming from, all I can honestly say is that when I use them with my computer or home stereo system, I frequently have to check that the sound is indeed coming from the headphones. That's how realistic and "there" the sound feels, and where the vast majority of headphones fail and these ones excel.
