Customer Review: I'm going to go deaf with these things!!! (That's good!)
Summary: 5 Stars

Being a programmer at a big company, I've GOT to have some music to isolate me from the cube farm.

I started off years ago with some Sony Street styles. Those lasted about a year, then promptly disintegrated on me. Well, me being stubborn I went ahead and bought another pair! Which the same thing happened 1 year later. The only thing I learned from these headphones is that I liked having an in-line volume control. It's frustrating having someone bust into your cube and having your headphones blasting away N.W.A. or Electronica w/o being able to manually turn down the volume via the in-line control.

Fast forward I got some Philips DJ Style HiFi Stereo Headphone - HP430, they sounded meh, okay, but again promptly decided to break on me.

Last week I thought I'd upgrade to some big 'cans' such as the Labtec Elite 835. I was cheap though, only spent ~$20. What a complete and utter waste of my time and money! So I finally decided to 'splurge' and get these EH-150.

OMG the difference is night and DAY with anything I've ever had before!!! The bass is amazing, it's NICE finally having TOO MUCH of it, now I can turn it down when I want to, or if I'm really in the mood I can let the music take control and jam out hardcore with these guys.

Only 'negative' in my book is they don't have an in-line volume control, but that can be easily solved by going to an aftermarket plug in.

So, if you're a cube rat like me, seriously look into getting this pair. Definitely gonna have to recommend this set to all my friends.

Customer Review: Great Headphones
Summary: 5 Stars

Terrific headphone for the price. Passive noise reduction is excellent. The ear pad size is a bit small to be described fully circumaural except for those with small ears, but suffice to say amount of external noise blocked (about 10 db) is enough to impress me. The bass response is excellent--they really meant it when they said there's "active bass" production. The extra thump is helpful in imparting an extra energy in modern pop and hip hop music which relies more on percussions and lower frequencies. The headphones are comfortable once you learn to adjust the ear cups to fit your ears. I have larger than average head, but I don't feel that the headband is tight at all--feels just fine, no distracting extracranial pressure. Design is rugged as well with thick cord and a sturdy, robust headband design. Although the cables split into 2 for the left and right headphones, I seriously doubt this was a cost issue but more of a design property--in my experience, single cord headphones tend have weak connection between the cable and headphone that over time and use, invariably results in the loss of sound in one phone. Although the headphone comes with two Clarity is excellent for lower frequency ranges although the higher frequencies do feel occasionally muffled or at least diminished, perhaps overwhelmed by the stronger low frequency boost. Only qualm lies with the length of the cord, which, at 10 feet is excessive for casual use; 5 feet would have been more than enough for most.

In summary: looks good, works WELL, economic price, simple, robust design.

Customer Review: Serviceable but not the best
Summary: 3 Stars

This is my third purchase of Sennheiser headphones. My first Sennheiser purchase was earbuds to replace the original iPod headphones. Sennheiser was getting a lot of positive buzz on iPod websites. I was pleased with the quality of the earbuds but have some trouble keeping them in my ears, so I bought a portable set of Sennheiser over-the-ear headphones (PX-100). Those are great sounding headphones that I use with my computer and my iPod.

When my cheapo Koss home-only headphones recently gave out, I decided to replace them with another set of Sennheisers. After reading many reviews of various models on Amazon, I settled on the EH-150's because of the 4 1/2 star average rating and the reasonable price. I find the sound quality of the EH-150's to be a little too heavy on the bass and not clear enough on the treble. The headpieces do a fairly good job of canceling outside noise, but they are not noise-canceling. There is not a hint of metal in the construction, unlike my old Koss headphones which lasted more than 10 years. I doubt these all-plastic phones will last that long under the use my daughter and I give them. With the 3-meter cable, these headphones are not practical for use with a portable device. I also think that these headphones will be hot on the ears in warmer weather.

My conclusion is that the PX-100's are a better all-around bet. They are more portable, have a shorter cord for portable device use, are lighter on the ears, and sound noticeably better. Spend the extra ten dollars and get the PX-100's.

Customer Review: Nice headphones
Summary: 4 Stars

Value for your money, these are a great pair of headphones. However, don't expect them to fit perfectly on your head. I have an average size head, so my ears are average size to, as I was fortunately not born a mutant of any kind. And with average sized ears, one would assume that the cans would cover my ear completely, unfortunatly they do not. Either the edges of your ear are getting smushed to your head or your earlobe. The way you adjust these on your head is the deciding factor in that. And they are not adjustable at the top, you can slide the cups up and down, but not make the headphones themselves wider. So, if you do have a larger head, I would actually steer away from these. But, these are for active use, so if you needed to go biking, running, jumping or just sit around by yourself and head bang to Metallica's "Ride the lighting" album. These are for you. The sound is great, the stay firm against your head and don't slip off. And you can forget they are there. Which is off, because at first you think something is attacking your head, but after awhile, you forget they are even on your head. They do a good job of blocking out other noise, although they are not noise cancelling.

So for your money, I'd say there is not a better set of headphones for you. But, it does come at one expense. Your head feels like your in a headlock for the first 5 minutes. Then you get use to it. But when you take them off, your ears feel a little sore. But these are great headphones, I'm keeping mine as I still like them very much.

Customer Review: Great sound, okay comfort, portibility, aesthetics
Summary: 4 Stars

Not being an audiophile I have unusual requirements for audio headwear.

1) Comfort - While I was initially disappointed with the comfort, as soon as I turned on some tunes, the headphones absorbed into the side of my brain and became one. Still I think I'd rather have some full ear headphones that don't smush the sides of your ears against your skull. 4 out of 5

2) Portability - I used to use sony earbuds, the kind that hook around your ear, which provided great portability. I don't mind having the headphones, as those make up for their size by being able to stored easily or placed around the neck. However, I can literally walk around my entire room with the cord still plugged into the computer. I have no clue what I'm going to do with this wire. I was thinking I could just drape it around my neck a few times, but thats just asking to get snagged and strangled by a passing sideview mirror. 3 out of 5

3) Aesthetics - Hey if I'm going to be walking down the street with these they've gotta look cool. On me, these definitely do not. The plastic frame leaves a large gap between my head and the headphones, looking less like audio equipment and more like a pair of orthodontic head-wear. Maybe I'm just picky. 2 out of 5.

I'm giving this 4 stars cause I've never had good headphones before, and the sound I'm getting from these is pretty excellent. Of course, thats not exactly what I was looking for, but I'll settle for it until they break or I get some free money.
