Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser CX300-W Earbuds (White)Customer Review: Affordable and comfortable (great headphones) Summary: 4 Stars
Sound:
Great sound. Comes through clear and vivid. The bass is substantially higher then any headphones of this size, and it manages to blend with the rest of the music so as not to interfere. Bass doesn't hurt your ears either.
Design:
The design is really well thought out, as simple as it may be. I'm 5'7'' (hope I'm not mixing up the symbols there) and the headphones have just enough length to allow me to move freely and not have excessive cord hanging in front of my torso. The right headphone goes around the back of the neck so there is nothing rocking in front. The buds it comes with (the little white heads) can fit any ear and it's likely that more than one of the three (if not all) will fit anybody allowing a choice between which feels more appropriate. The buds themselves fit firmly onto the headphones allowing easy interchangeability while maintaining reliability (so you won't have to worry about whether the buds will come off in your pocket or not).
Comfort:
This is the most important aspect and the one which it prevails in, once you fit them into your ear. They aren't difficult to put in but can cause a temporary feeling of discomfort from the block of air if you push too hard. This happens because they block sound from going into your ear, which causes any sound within that vacuum to be amplified greatly. This isn't too big of an issue though, and happened to me only because I wanted COMPLETE isolation from external sound. They are not meant to simulate deafness (when no music is playing) but they sure do a pretty good job of it. I have to remove them in order to listen to someone speak to me without them having to speak loudly (without music playing, so if you have music playing don't expect to hear anything else).
Just to emphasize how comfortable they are I had a 12 hour shift job where I listened to my ipod constantly (without removal or fondling of the ear buds) for up to 6 hours. Never once did they hurt my ears or caused the usual discomfort small headphones are known for.
Reason for only 4 stars:
-The ability to lose the ear buds
-Residue buildup (lint, hair, never saw ear wax on it but then again I clean my ears everyday)
-Temporary discomfort which ensues after pressing too hard
-May have to try each pair of buds for several minutes to see which is really best for you
The pros definitely outweigh the cons and I can't believe I didn't find out about these sooner.
