Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser CX300-S Earbuds (Silver)Customer Review: Good Ear Plugs Summary: 4 StarsThis is a good set of ear plugs. They have reasonably good sound for the price. This is not a high end product and so you should not expect high end sound. Also, the reason why it does not get 5 stars is because the rubber foam pieces on the ear buds will occasionaly need replacing. I like the fact that they block out a lot of the sound around you. Good on the subway or in other noisy places.
Customer Review: Not bad Summary: 3 StarsI use these to listen MP3s on my portal media player during my commute to work. While it does a good job at isolating noise and the sound is clear however, the base doesn't hold as well as my old Creative Headphones EP-630. The base starts to break up when I turn up the volume. The wire is a little stiff--they don't hang loose compared to my other earphones.
Customer Review: Comfortable but not great sound Summary: 3 StarsBought these to replace my lost Shure e2c's.
Pros: Comfy. 4 hour flights with no issues. Cheaper than the Shure e2c's
Cons: Too much bass. Sound quality is below that of the e2c's. Cord is cheap and thin. No cord case. Asymmetric cord is also awkward.
If I could go back, I would go with the Shure's.
Customer Review: Sennheiser cx-300 earbus Summary: 4 StarsIf you are looking for some great low cost earbuds, these will work just fine. They are light weight, comfortable, low cost ($50.00 through amazon on sale), and stylish. I would recomend the Shure's if you want to upgrade to a higher quality and sound, but you will spend at least twice as much. You could spend less, but you get what you pay for. These ear buds are a bargin for the money. Just don't expect $250.00 sound and workmanship for $50.00.
Customer Review: Sweet sounding buds Summary: 4 StarsPros: These are great, they sound excellent and fit beautifully. The well defined bass, balanced sound stage, low distortion and channel clarity made the phones especially sweet to listen to. Light and comfortable they are unobstrusive and good for long periods of use. Since these were the main criteria for my purchase I am giving it a high score.
Although not a perfect score due some pracical issues below.
Cons: Noise isolation is too much of a good thing. These in-canal buds cut off so much of the surrounding ambience that you could not use it safely on the road or in public places. Its not going to do your relationships any good either as you noticeably stop picking up conversations. This limits it use to the few times you are on your own and those times at the back of the car or on a long flight.
Sennheiser should have provided a case with the phones. The thin rubbery cords invariably end up in a small tangle everytime they are put aside. Haven't figured out the best way to keep these other than to wind it round the iPOD.
Lastly, a perpetual hiss is detectable in every source I tried, which is especially aggravated in iTunes and on the iPOD making the quiet passages somewhat annoying; I ended up using the media player on the PDA or laptop. The hiss is something you have to get used to since there is no such thing as dead silence because the ear has the amazing ability to automatically increase its sensitivity when ambient noise is low.
A simple remedy is to crank it up! (at this point it would be prudent recall the disclaimer that you had to rip the packaging apart to read)
