Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200.11 Bulk/OEM Hard Drive ST31000340ASCustomer Review: Decades of reputation destroyed in a few short years Summary: 1 Stars
I swore by Seagate until I have had 3x 500gb drives and 1tb 7200.11 drives all fail on me in less than a year. They offered data recovery services for some outrageous fee. They consistently delete and edit their forums to try to skirt the thousands of angry users of their drives - myself included. I smell a class action lawsuit on the horizon.
Use these for backups - if you never want to sleep another good night.
Trust your family pictures to these foolish hard disk manufacturers only if you want a shoddy product and even shoddier customer support.
Customer Review: Buyer beware Summary: 1 Stars
They will tell you firmware issue is resolved but these drives have an infamously high failure rate irregardless. Lost my first drive within 8 months so it was RMA'ed and I received a 'certified repaired' piece of junk that "SMART tripped" in two months (not heat tripped though). I made the mistake of buying the cheap 1TB drive without reading reviews do yourself a favor and avoid seagate until they get there quality back in check. Don't take my word for it pretty much all hardware review sites agree 7200.11's are ticking time-bombs especially the 1TB model.
Customer Review: Fast, big and fairly quiet Summary: 5 Stars
Hello, I replaced the 750 in the HP m8430f due to the bad drivers that I loaded. Since I could only nuke the OS on the 750 I decided to RR the 750 with the 1000. I'm not sure what happened to 82gig on the drive but it is fairly quiet and fast and satisfying. You'll find all the quality your looking for in this drive. I'll update when I find the 82gig that went missing for what ever reason.UPDATE format the drive and get all you payed for. I always fan a hard drive if it needs it or not.Update 11/28 I can hear the HD working so my laptop is more quiet.
Customer Review: Watch out for the Disk Wizard software included! Summary: 5 Stars
I installed this drive as a replacement for my 200GB Barracuda main drive.
I used the Disc Wizard to clone the old drive. The cloning appeared to work fine, but later I found that my backup program crashed with a blue-screen-of-death - STOP: 0x00000019 (0x00000020, 0xe5acb398, 0xe5acb3b8, 0x0c040207).
Later research showed the fix was easy [...].
Since the fix I am very happy with the drive. It is about twice as fast as my previous drive and I have to run it with 1/2 speed jumper.
Customer Review: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB Sata Hard Drive Summary: 5 Stars
Received product within a week. Packaged very good! OEM, so no cables. Loaded in my Blackbird 002, formatted and loaded it up. No issues. I have been running this drive for about a month. It runs quiet and effienctly. Purchasing two more to add to my system. Running a Seagate 500 GB for system drive with a 500 for backup. Added the 1 TB to the system to load programs, files.... I will order two more of the 1 TB since I can hot swap up to five drives at a time.
Great Product, No Issues!
