Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 6 in 1 Car Kit for Ipod (Black) Car Charger / Fm Transmitter / Holder Full Range Frequency / USB port / Remote Control for iPod, Touch 1G/2GCustomer Review: Not so great... Summary: 2 Stars
I was so excited to order this car kit for my iPod Touch... The iPod fits well into the charger cradle... but the problem arises when I plug the charger into my cigarette lighter. I have a 97 accord, and while it fits fine while the car is in drive, I have to unplug the unit before I can put the car in park or the unit obstructs the shifter.
Another problem is I'm only able to find one FM frequency in my town that isn't being used for broadcasting. I set the charger and my radio to this frequency.. The player plays the music on the iPod no problem, but it is so staticky in the background of the music that I can't even stand to listen to it. It makes the noise that your radio makes when you are going out of range of the station. Your automatic response is to change the station, which you can't do if there is only one you can use.
This makes me sad. :(
I'm hoping it will work better if I am traveling on the highway or in another city, because it doesn't work well where I am now! Unfortunately, for now it seems like a big waste of money.
Customer Review: Unusable in New York City Summary: 1 Stars
There are several things that I find wrong with this product:
1. This product is absolutely unusable in New York City; there are no clear stations that can be used for a significant period of time. When it does work, the music is unclear and full of static.
2. Also, while the music eventually plays, it constantly skips; I have to continuously press the button up and and down so the music will come back on.
2. The LCD is not clear, and quite frankly an absolute distraction when attempting to match the stations up and drive. I had to plug it in sideways, so that I could actually see what stations the LCD was on. Quite frankly, it still wasn't clear; the blue background is way too bright.
3. The adjuster doesn't keep the stand still for long. While trying to maneuver through the different stations, see what station the dial is on, and trying to get the music to stop skipping, the Ipod kept falling over!
Anyway, I am returning this product, and will perhaps try once again with another product.
Customer Review: It works!! Summary: 5 Stars
Things I like about the unit are:
1. The design is superb. It allows me to mount and hold securely my IPOD in the center console between the seats so that it is both easy to see as well as reach to adjust.
2. The ability to go down to 87.6 frequency. In my area there is someone broadcasting on almost every frequency and if not there is enough bleed over so that finding an unused frequency in the normal range is impossible. With your unit I set it at 87.6 and don't need to bother with it again. Another companies unit required a search for a new frequency every few miles on a trip.
3. The transmitter in your unit is powerful enough that it can overcome any interference that I've run across. This would be especially attractive to somebody who's radio would not receive below 88.
It would be nice if the unit had a built in lighter socket so that a GPS or radar detector could be plugged in. Also when the ignition is turned on the unit needs to be on if it was on when I last turned off the ignition.
Assuredly a good buy.
Customer Review: Perfect iPod/MP3 player FM transmitter/charger/holder Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this item based on the written reviews. I was aware that the product construction might be a little delicate. I had owned two other FM transmitter/charger cradles and both would not work with my iPod (120 GB Classic) while in a protective case. This product not only works while my iPod remains in the case, but works in my vehicle with no problems. The remote works perfectly, the FM transmission is clear, the adjustable holder arms are super and you can power the unit off and leave it connected to your auxiliary power socket without draining the vehicle's battery.
After a week of having it the arm did break where the holding screw and nut connect causing the arm to simply move freely and not lock in place. I wrote to Satecki about the problem and they sent a replacement adapter arm totally free of charge...no hassles or gimmicks. They honored their warranty without exception.
If I ever need to buy another iPod FM transmitter/holder this will be the one I buy...hands down.
Customer Review: Not So Good Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this on the recommendation of my friend. The first problem I had was getting it to fit in my VW Passat. The shift would hit the thing when I put it in park. So I had to carefully push it to the right or take it out every time. I switched to my old iPod Mini and this made it a little easier but less songs! ...still had to be careful going into park. Next I tightened the thumb screw on the back to keep the front panel in place and with a very small amount of pressure it broke so a piece of black tape became my next patch. So for the next week it seemed that I was going to be OK with this and then it would not keep make connection with the power in the lighter hole. Frustration then placed it in the trash. The only good thing about it was that the radio signal worked very well and it sounded very good when it did worked. My friend uses his in his truck so it is clear of the shift. So just be sure you have room for the thing and once you get it in don't mess with it. For me it was a waste of 50 bucks.
