Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sanus VMPL50B VisionMount Tilting Mount For 30"- 56" Displays - BlackCustomer Review: As easy to install as everyone says! Summary: 5 Stars
Through the kindness of friends of family, I was gifted a new 42" HDTV earlier this year. I immediately realized that I needed a way to view the television while keeping it out of the reach of my curious 2-year-old. Thankfully, the Sanus mounting bracket was both well-priced and fantastically reviewed here at Amazon, making my option choice very easy.
Noting that I'm not necessarily a very good handyman, it really is as easy to install as most reviews state. Simply determine the kind of wall you are dealing with, use the proper screws to mount the base into the wall, and attach the TV brackets to the back of your TV (using spacers if you need to). After all that, lift and put the TV in its place and you're set!
The longest part of installing everything was just measuring the wall and where I wanted the TV to be. One good tip I saw elsewhere was to use a piece of cardboard that's the same size as your TV to use as a dummy (your TV's box cut into the same size as your TV is a good candidate). That way you can visualize your best viewing situation (do you sit far away, close by, couch level, etc.?). This will save you lots of post-mounting regret later.
Even if you don't get the TV mounted 100% where you want it, this bracket set allows you to smoothly slide the TV several inches left or right, as well as up or down via changing the TV bracket bars' screw positions. You can tilt the TV up or down slightly for that final touch and use a handy knob to tighten it down.
Overall, this is the bracket to get, folks. If a person like me can do it (with the extra help lifting the TV from my brother) then you can, too! Highly recommended!
Customer Review: Glad I bought it, may buy another Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this wall mount with the intention of clearing up some floor space in my finished basement. Currently it's hanging my 32" LCD, which is a very light-weight TV. However, eventually I plan on hanging my 42" Plasma, which weighs in at 85 pounds. I did a test-run with the Plasma, and this wall mount system held onto it just fine. I'm confident nothing will break or bend, as it is made of heavy-gauge steel, with quality fasteners and a durable finish.
Installation of the unit to the wall was a piece of cake, just do what the instructions tell you to and take your time, do it cleanly, and you'll end up with great results. The tilt feature is very nice, the couches we have in the basement are very low to the ground, and I mounted the TV about 4 1/2 feet from floor to the bottom of the TV. The combined height differences of couch and TV present a need for a tilt feature, which is why I purchased this mount. Installing the mount to the back of the TV was a little confusing at first, and it would have been nice to have written instructions instead of just pictures. After playing around with different set ups I found one that I was comfortable with. I like the amount of extra bolts included for different thread sizes on different TV sets also, which makes this unit very user-friendly for those of us with older TVs that used non-standard size threads.
All in all, I highly recommend this wall mount. I'm very pleased with the quality of construction and the design. It's a user-friendly unit that won't leave you wondering if your TV will fall off the wall. If you install everything right, you'll have nothing to worry about.
Customer Review: A perfect TV wall mount - my first ever Summary: 5 Stars
This wall mount is perfect. We mounted our 50" Panasonic plasma TV on the wall with it. Packaged perfectly and there are a bazzilion extra bolts and spacers to accomodate just about any TV. Measure, measure, that is the tip of the day! Installation was flawless, total actual install time was about 15 minutes. It took me quite a while to measure perfectly, find the studs, etc. But, man, once it is up, it is perfect. I actually did it by myself, which I would not recommend, but I was able to lift my 75 pound TV into place while my wife guided me onto the bracket. I think the tilt feature is a must have My 5 year old daughter even understood the whole process of how the bracket works - so it is pretty straightforward - just measure! Our TV is 19' away from our bed with the top of the TV at about 6.5'. So we have it tilted down just slightly towards the bed. Also, unless you have a recessed cable box, there is just not enough clearance for the cabling with a slim mount. So, you have to judge for yourself how far you want or need the TV to be. The tilt feature, which I did not really care for, has proved to be a real serious usable feature of this wall mount. The TV itself is solid on the wall with zero deflection if you touch it - very, very solid. I even hung onto the wall bracket (I'm 163 pounds) and it held me just fine! This is my first wall bracket, and I suspect more in the future, and I will definitely buy this wall mount again, without doubt. Oh, and much much better than the flimsy garbage they sell at Walmart and 1/3 the price of Worst Buy. Amazon Prime rocks, hands down my best shopping venue.
Customer Review: Hefty construction, very easy install Summary: 4 Stars
After reviewing all the different types manufacturers and mount types (articulating, low profile and tilt like this one). I selected this one for the following reasons:
1. Sanus had the best feedback for the price point.
2. I wanted something close to the wall, but not too close where I couldn't reach the
wiring behind it without alot of struggle. The tilt feature helps here. Articulation
just leaves too much of a gap between the tv and wall for me (about doubling the wall
depth).
Bought based on all the great reviews here, plus liked the fact that there were different mounting holes based on your wall stud locations.
Point to note exception - if your walls have 2x8 studs and are 24 inches apart on center (most walls are 2x4 and 16 inches on center), this mount is only 28.8 inches wide, so check your wall stud locations in relation to where you want your tv mounted.
The mounting plate is hefty and looks good even though you won't ever see it mounted. Based on some reviews i separately purchased lag screws from my local hardware store, so I didn't have to worry about included screw heads snapping. Spend the extra $2-3!! You can TOTALLY see the included lag screw shank is thinner and shorter than one you would buy at a hardware store, this is where all the stress resides when you screw it into the wall. Bring it to the hardware store and compare for yourself.
For the going price of $55 at the time of this posting, its well worth the money!! I paid $75 5 months prior, and at that time still a good deal.
Customer Review: Great mount for a great price Summary: 5 Stars
Did quite a bit of research on mounts before buying this product. Amazon had a GREAT price on this mount. I bought it mostly based on positive reviews on this and other sites. The mount was a bit smaller than I expected, but I kind of expected this based on a few of the reviews I read. This was a bit of a concern because my TV is a 50 inch Samsung plasma and weighs about 85 pounds. Though small this mount is quite solid. As another reviewer mentioned the mount is not wide enough to hit three wall studs across. I overcame this by strapping two 2 by 4 studs horizontily across my wall and bolting them securely to the three wall studs behind where I wanted the TV. The strapped studs, which I painted flat black, were hidden nicely because this mount is so narrow and puts your TV very close to the wall. This actually gave me better clearance to get my wiring in from behind the wall so it doesn't show. Then it was a breeze to just mount and center the heavy duty wall plate to the two strapped studs I installed. The mount came with all the necessary hardware to mount the upright sections to my TV quite securely. Then it was just a matter of dropping the TV onto the wall mounted part. The mount tilts/pivots quite easily by hand and doesn't move on it's own, a big plus. Very good design. If I had to pick a nit on this mount is that for larger TV's it would be better to be able to hit three studs with the wall plate, a minor point I guess.
