Customer Review: Great wall mount for larger TV
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm pretty satisfied with this wall mount (so far). I'm using it with a 52" Sony Bravia HDL-52W4100 (71 lbs.), and I have read that other reviewers were having to buy additional screws in order to fasten the hooks onto Sony TV's, so I emailed the company ([...]) and asked them what were the proper size; I got a prompt reply and I bought a few of the screws at Lowes before I went home (tried Home Depot but couldn't find them). After looking at all the supplied hardware at home, I discovered that in fact the proper screws WERE there (metric M6 x 20mm), so no harm, no foul. Anyway, I hit wall studs with 6 screws (weird wall) but actually had to use a shim on one end because my wall is bowed (previous owner attempted to be a carpenter), used the center mounting holes on the hooks to allow for the most up/down adjustment, and up it went. As with other reviewers, I also hung on the bracket to test it out before I put the TV up. Had to do some minor math to figure out how high to mount the bracket related to where the hooks were connected to the TV, so the height was pretty close to how I wanted it (top of the screen was level with my eye while standing up); there's about 5-6 inches of height adjustment available, thanks to all the holes in the TV hooks, but you need to be at least in the ballpark (and the manual doesn't really help with this). You can be a little off center with the wall bracket (depending on how much side play your TV allows you) to allow yourself to hit at least two studs; the hooks cannot slide off the sides of the bracket, which I was pleased to discover, and the TV sits far enough away from the wall that I can plug in additional cords without taking the TV down. The bottom set screws that hold the hooks on the bracket can be hand tightened (at least, in my case), but it's wise to thread them on before you mount the TV. Some people wouldn't bother with the screws, but in my house I don't trust anything to not fall that's not nailed or bolted down, and the hooks are not all that deep (one bracket I saw at BJ's Warehouse had a large hook with a coat rack-style bracket), so better safe than sorry; I suggest hand tightening them all the way and then backing them off a turn so you can make minor sideways adjustments. The tilt feature is a plus, as well; a little downward adjustment can get rid of a lot of glare.

Customer Review: Sanus Tilting Flat Panel TV mount
Summary: 5 Stars

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

As was mentioned before this works perfectly. I chose this pivoting wall mount to hang my 42" Panasonic Plasma to the studs behind the drywall in my bedroom. It was extremely easy to install and works as you'd expect.

INSTALLATION STEPS
1. Find the studs using any method you choose. My studs are 16" on center. I have a $10 stud finder that did the job.
2. Determine hanging height. Mine is in the master bedroom so I wanted it up a bit. For my installation the top of the bracket was positioned so it was 28" from the 8 foot ceiling.
3. Draw a level line to the wall mount sits level.
4. Mark and drill 3/16" pilot holes for the lag bolts. This is a mandatory considering the size of the lag screws. If you try to simply self tap them without pilot holes they will break. I used two lags on the top and two on the bottom. Washers are provided, don't forget to use them.
5. Mount the two vertical brackets to the back of the TV. My Panasonic uses M8 screws. You will need a large phillips head to tighten them down. The kit comes with a full range of fasteners and washers. Also, pre-install the bottom two allen head screws that keep the bottom from lifting. These would be hard to start once the TV is hung on the wall.
6. Hang TV and adjust to the angle you want. Tighten the bottom two allen screws to keep the TV from lifting off. I hung it by myself but the TV is 42 inch. Anything bigger, get a friend to help.
7. Plug it in and enjoy.

PROS
--Does exactly what is says it does. The package is 74 lbs so it's very robust.
--All fasteners and options appear to be covered in the bags of fasteners
--Easy installation

CONS
--Instructions are your normal Chinese English translation. The instruction were a bit odd. Each steps was translated into dozens of languages -- one step per page.

Customer Review: Incredibly sturdy, works well, highly recommended
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a mount to put a 50" HDTV over my fireplace in a home we recently purchased; this home is 75-years old and the walls are all plaster with brick on the other side.

I had minimal experience with plaster prior to this so I was very nervous about how well this would hold up; the only experience I did have was in hanging pictures which I found to be an incredibly painful process.

It took more effort than we expected to mount it, predominantly because my drill bits wouldn't go through the plaster, so I had to purchase masonry drill bits to get through the plaster and then a bit into the brick behind it. Because we didn't have any studs to go into the way we would with a regular drywall, we used the extra parts that came with the mount to give extra stability (I don't remember the name for the parts, but essentially a metal tube that sit inside the holes we drilled, and then the bolts for the mount went into these tubes).

Really once we realized we needed new drill bits the rest of the installation was dead simple. The mount is incredibly sturdy and has absolutely no give whatsoever, and holds the TV without any difficulty. I had to remove the TV and put it back on the mount while painting the walls recently, and the mount still has had no issues.

There is not much space between the wall/mount and the TV so you definitely need to plug in all wires before placing the TV on the mount, otherwise it will be almost impossible to plug things in later. The tilt mechanism works very well; my only complaint is I don't see a way to lock the TV into place (the tile or the horizontal position) the way I expect it should. It isn't really much of an issue since it never moves without being pushed, so short of the whole mount coming off the wall or an earthquake I think it will be fine.

Customer Review: 52" Sony LCD Above Fireplace, Works Great!
Summary: 5 Stars

BB wanted $70 more (before tax) than buying this online and that was AFTER shipping. The instructions provided are thorough and easy to follow, but just make sure you know that you're screwing the bracket into the CENTER of the stud. It helps to have a quality stud finder, Zircon makes a stud finder that will atually mark the center of the stud.

We mounted our Sony KDL-52W3000 over our family room fireplace and with the tilting action it gives us a perfect view from the comfort of our couches. We didn't need/want a full motion bracket since our family is is rather narrow and we wanted a lower profile mount to make it look more like a piece of furniture above our fireplace, rather than a robotic behemoth. We saw on the box that it is marked for TV's up to 50" but the Sanus website states it is good for TV's up to 56" not exceeding 130 lbs.

I was happy to see that the mount comes with a UL mark. UL is a non-profit safety organization that tests consumer and industrial products. Sure, you may pay a little more for a product with a UL mark but you can be assured that the product you're buying went through a more rigorous quality and safety check than the no-name brands you can find for a lot cheaper. [...]

According to the UL website, wall mount brackets are tested against the requirements of ANSI/UL 1678 which I assume include tests to make sure that the bracket can withstand a lot more weight than is rated provided it is mounted correctly.

If you're on the fence whether to get this particular tilting bracket, just get it. The tilt feature is awesome when mounting TV's high up on a wall and with two people and the right tools it won't take more than an hour to finish everything. All you'll need is a low profile stereo system!

Customer Review: Nice Mount, Easy to Set Up and Use
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this mount the same time I bought my LG 42LH50. The price was right, my salesman matched the price of what I could by a cheaper mount for at Walmart.
I had done no research on tilting wall mounts, so I was pleasantly surprised when I got home to find that this mount exhibits some serious build quality. The steel components are very heavy duty. It's rated to hold 130 pounds, but I think you could hang twice that amount off it and it would be fine. Considering flat panel TVs weigh far less than 130, this mount is plenty strong.
Mounting the brackets to my TV was very easy. The instructions were clear, and I had my TV mounted in about 30 minutes. The back of the TV sits about 2.5" from the wall, which is reasonable since you need room for cables if your TV's inputs face the rear instead of the side. Mounting the wall plate was equally easy, just make sure you have a stud finder. Concrete anchors were included if required. No shortage of mounting hardware with this package.
I tightened the tilt adjustment knobs just finger tight. Same for the bolts on the bottom which keep the bottom from tilting out and prevent side to side movement. With them all just finger tight, the TV is secure and can be slid side to side and tilted with ease. It slides and tilts like a fine machine, very smooth. The wall plate has built in stops to prevent you from sliding the TV off the ends.
For those who may think that the instructions are lacking info, go to Sanus' website. They have a nice calculator where you can enter your TV model and desired height to the bottom or center of the TV and in return it will tell you what elevations to place your bolts in the wall.
