I was a little worried about this being substantial enough to support a fairly heavy cable box/DVR and a heavy Audio receiver but it is strong enough that I'm very comfortable all my equipment is safe. They installed very easily and the lag bolts were plenty strong enough once I located the studs in the wall using a stud finder. The allen screws that are used to secure the arms to the wall mount are pretty cheap and I did strip one of them with the supplies allen wrench but it's nothing I can't match and replace with a trip to the hardware store.
A great value when compared to other solutions. I have mine mounted in a vertical line one on top of the other and after removing the little knock out plastic parts on the top and bottom, was able to feed the electric cords down the wall to the surge protector and the HDMI up the wall to the TV and hide all the cords. Just be sure to mount the top unit so that the top of the wall mount is behind the bottom of the tv and you won't be able to see any cords going up.
I likely will be buying again for other rooms or as a solution when my parents finally go flat screen when their rear projection TV quits. One last concern/thought is if you have a DVD or blueray that has a front cover that drops down before the disktray slides out when you load or eject, you will have to position the player on the edge or the arms as there is not enough clearance for the cover to drop without hitting the support arms. Mine is still very secure there.

bought this to use with an existing wooden shelf i had. figured i would just use it to hold the shelf. from the get go nothing but problems. the allen key and set screws were missing. i called sanus and they said they would mail it to me. ok, kudos for support.
according ot the instructions - use a 1/4 drill bit to make pilot holes, and i do, only to find that 1/4' was too big as the lag bolts supplied were 1/4' as well!!!! Blast who ever wrote the instructions! so now i have to fill up the hole and mount it slightly lower on the same stud. less than ideal. i used a 3/16th drill to make the pilot holes which fit the supplied lag bolts. double check and all is level.
after mounting the bracket, i find that its not level and there is not way to level it!!
im using a felt pad under the support to level it but may just try to bend the arm to get it to level.
its a strong unit, seems like it well up to the task, but come on sanus!!! get the basics right! and fix the darned instructions why dont you!!
NB - seems im the only one here that had the problem with the instructions stating to use a 1/4' drill... did they supply the wrong size bolts with mine?

The shelf is sturdy and works just as expected. But without having a glass on top, it is difficult to get certain items to fit. Ex. I tried to set my Directv receiver on it (non DVR). It is too small and wont fit well. Then I put my old DVD player on it and the legs on the buttom of the DVD player interfer with the legs of the shelf. I can push it back, but it doesn't sit even. My new DVD player which is compact and small doesn't really fit either and just doesn't look right. Perfect for LARGE AV components.
The shelf would work well for LARGE items, but for compact items it isn't centered, or is just plain hard to fit.
No exactly what you plan to put on it.
But it was easy to install and it is very sturdy. Can easily hold heavy or stacking items.
It would be perfect if:
1. It had a glass/ plastic shelf to set on the mount.
2. It didn't stick out as much.

Bought this to hold a large center channel speaker over a 54" flat screen. The Polk speaker I have works very well but it also is about 10" deep and heavy. All of the speaker wall brackets I found were too shallow. This actually protrudes a little too far but is extremely sturdy. Two or three of these to hold your components (what it is really made for) with a wall mounted TV would look great. The four included strong wood screws into a stud and your kid could probably swing from it. Very sturdy feeling materials. To make it protrude less from the wall, I considered sawing off a bit and putting the end caps back on, but the metal is heavy and the finish too nice to risk. I was surprised at how well made it was. You should check to see if there is a wall stud where you want to install it. I would have worried about too much weight using just sheet rock anchors.Customer Review: Good, but few flaws...

The installation was not that hard, but few things did not go well. The material quality is good, but the small locking screws are not. The support that needs to be attached to the bracket is not leveled and CANNOT be leveled at all. It tilts to the right and there was no way to get it leveled. Only way is to move the bracket taking it out of level. If you have only one that would be the solution, but if you have more than one they go out of alignment when try to level the support arm. So the brackets are perfectly aligned and leveled, but the support arms. The manufacturer must look into this and correct it. Also include the locking screws made of stronger material. The cable management is not good either. Too tight and the cover does not stay in place when few cables/cords run through it.
Besides those issues once installed it looks great.
