Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SANUS SYSTEMS BF-24B Wood Speaker StandsCustomer Review: Good stands for the price. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these speaker stands to hold my front stereo speakers. They do the job well. They are the perfect size for my bookshelf speakers. They have a hole drilled on the top of the stand to put a wire through. It doesn't make any sense since the hole is in the middle of the base and you would have to put the wire under the speaker itself. Instead I just put the wire in the back. There is a removable plastic cover for the back of the shaft of the stand, so I just threaded the wire in the bottom and out the top of the stand, and it hides the wire well. The price was right and they look good with my setup. I would reccomend them.
Customer Review: Decent and Cheap, But Wouldn't Recommend Summary: 2 Stars
I read the reviews already on this site and purchased it anyway. When I assembled the product I immediately found that the pre-drilled holes were too small for the screws, which meant almost every screw I used split the base of the wood. It looks unattractive, but it's not really noticeable.
I ended up throwing away the plastic rear covers because I quickly realized that it would be near impossible to run my speaker cables through it with the plastic piece in the grooves. Not unless I had a 2 year old's hands or something.
Overall the stands do as they should: hold my speakers.
Customer Review: Almost Awesome! Summary: 4 Stars
For the money, these things are great. They look nice, they work nice... the hardware is even separated into little plastic pouches on one piece of cardboard and labelled accordingly for easy assembly. Where's the problem? Mine were banged up during shipment from lack of "cushion." So sad when everything else comes together nicely to find chipped corners. (To be honest, I am not going to return the stands, as they will be mostly out of the public eye, and frankly, I have kids -- these aren't meant to last forever... but for those of you who are perfectionists beware of this bad packaging!)
Customer Review: Yup, you get what you pay for! Summary: 3 Stars
Yup, I got hairline Wood Splits despite my extra effort as a result of reading these reviews...dang! However, they are manageable (if disconcerting) and the stands are still quite functional.
I used white glue to better anchor the screws, and followed the excellent suggestion to apply a couple coats of Polyurathane to the somewhat unsmooth/powder coated surface.
So... bottom line... an extra hour or so of effort... the cost of the paint...if "time is money," all else being equal, I could have justified spending a few more bucks... I'm just sayin'.
Customer Review: Surprising quality Summary: 5 Stars
Just received and built two sets of these stands for my home theater system to get a better audio profile with the raised speakers. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised as to the quality of these stands for the price. They were assembled seemliness and feel very solid in construction. I also like the hidden wire channel down the center of the stand (although since I am using white wire, you can see it through the front on 1 of the 4 stands in which the wire pushed forward). I would highly recommend these for anyone looking for some quality budget speaker stands.
