Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SANUS SYSTEMS BF-24B Wood Speaker StandsCustomer Review: Awesome speaker stands! Summary: 5 Stars
So I was looking for speaker stands to support my new Klipsch B-3 fronts and after researching a lot of other styles, I decided on these Sanus wood mounts for both form and price. Although I have to admit -having read a lot of the other reviews from previous owners here on Amazon- I was a bit leary about the wood splitting when I drove in the screws. After building a set of these myself all I can say is I'm not sure what other people are doing to their stands but mine went together perfectly with no splitting what-so-ever. I don't know if Sanus changed the screw size or made the pilot holes larger or what, but everything matched up perfectly for me. I did use a hand driver and was carefull not to over-tighten as suggested in the manual and like I said, had no problems at all. The stands hold the speakers perfectly and the sound stage in my living room is a LOT better now that I have the ability move my fronts wherever I want to (they used to sit on the media furniture below the wall mounted tv which was too close together). In summary, these are fantastic stands that I would not hesitate to buy again or recommend to a friend! Way to go Sanus/ Amazon!
Customer Review: Almost Perfect Summary: 4 Stars
I bought 2 pair of these for my Infinity P162 bookshelves, perfect fit.
Assembly - I put togther 4 of these in about 30min with no problems, no wood splitting as reported in other reviews, hopefully they weren't using a power tool but I had no problem with my old school screw driver. The only issue I had was that the plastic pegs were a very tight fit to the base, so I enlarged the holes some with my drill, no problem but minus 1 star for this. If you have hardwood floors, skip the pegs and just pick up some felt or rubber feet and slap them to the bottom so you can run your wires under (this apparently baffled a previous reviewer).
Design - I'm befuddled by some of the earlier reviews about the "wire hole in the center of the base." Sure there is a hole there, but since most bookshelf speakers have the wires in the back and the speaker covers the base, I don't believe that was really the intent of the center hole unless you have very tiny speakers. For normal bookshleves, there is a slot in the back of the stand to run the wires.
All in all, great stand and I would recommend to a friend.
Customer Review: Assebly design flawed Summary: 3 Stars
The problems with this product is that when you attach two pillars of the stand to the platform for the speakers with the four provided screws and screw them in the pre-tapped holes, the pillar(s) wood splits. This also goes for the base of the stand as well. I had to disassemble the stand and fill the pre-tapped holes with wood glue. I hope this will hold up over time. The screws were not too large and the pre-tapping of the homes was a good design/manufacturing idea but the quality of the particle board used is very poor and weak. One last thought. The screws that attach to the speaker base do not go in flush with the surface of the base. Four small triangular pieces of rubber with adhesive are provided to try and offset the raised screw heads. Again, not a good design and a poor attempt at a workaround solution to any easy problem to fix. Just do a slight bore out that is enough to counter sink the screws so that they they go in flush to the surface.
Not exactly rocket science or costly changes. I guess this is what to be expected from $29.99 stands....
Customer Review: Cheap but functional Summary: 3 Stars
I bought these stands for a pair of bookshelf speakers 6.7" x 10.8" x 11.6". Assembly consists of putting the four pieces of MDF together (using the supplied 8 wood screws) and snapping a piece of plastic in the back. When driving in a screw, it's easy to miss the pilot hole and drive it into the soft MDF instead - which quickly responds by splitting... As pointed out by others, the holes drilled for the cables are laughable small. However, this is not a big deal as the back-cover is short enough to leave a gap on the bottom and top through which you can run the cable to mostly conceal them. The speaker rests on 4 small, somewhat sticky rubber triangles. Included are also four wobbly plastic spikes for the bottom. I couldn't use them as our hardwood floor is uneven and the spikes do not screw out to different heights as they do on other stands. The stands do their job in holding up the speakers. They look OK - plain and simple black. For around $30 they are worth their money. Would I pay more or called them a quality item? Probably not.
Customer Review: great low cost stands Summary: 5 Stars
i purchased these through amazon and received them in less than 36 hours with super saver shipping. the items shipped out of indianapolis indiana and i live in northwest ohio(3 hrs drive).
i took the advice of another reviewer and used two coats of high gloss spray polyurethane. that makes a huge improvement in the look of these stands. it also leaves a smooth finish which aids in cleaning and dusting(the painted mdf on these is not sanded smooth before they are painted).
i also decided not to use the plastic carpet spikes but opted to use metal spikes that i purchased from [...]. these spikes will be more durable and also hold better in carpet.
overall assembly was simple and me and my seven year old daughter put 4 of these stands together in about 30 mins. my daughter acted as a second set of hands while i alligned the screws to the pre-drilled holes.
i have yet to try these with speakers on them (sony ss-b3000's arriving tommorow). overall i am satisfied with this purchase and will buy from amazon again.
