Customer Review: Why is it so hard to find a good portable radio?
Summary: 5 Stars

Had a great little Sony battery / AC portable radio that we gave to our daughter for use away at school. We love our daughter, but we never would have given her the radio if we knew it would take four months to find a replacement. Our requirements were simple: White, uses batteries, sounds good, <$75. There are plenty of <$30 portable radios out there, but they are black or silver, and most sound like junk. The white ones are either AC only, powered by a crank(?!?) or have all sorts of emergency bands, etc. ALL I WANTED WAS A PLAIN WHITE AM/FM RADIO! I was thrilled when I cam across this Sangean model. Use rechargeable batteries, they even recharge in the radio! It is solid, sounds good, has great reception, and looks good too. Only improvement would be to make the LCD brighter when not backlit. Buy it.

Customer Review: Finally found a radio that works static free in my basement.
Summary: 5 Stars

Hi. I'd read the reviews and hoped this radio was all it's cracked up to be. It is! I've used Sony and Kaito radios in my basement in an attempt to find one that receives FM signals consistently and static free. The PR-D7 does this and more. The sound quality is excellent, programming stations in the presets is intuitive, and the volume control is smooth. When this unit is turned off using an in-line switch (e.g. a light switch) the internal switch (on/off switch the user pushes) goes off so if you put the unit in a hard to reach place and depend on a in-line switch it won't work. You must push the on/off switch to power the unit on. Also the color is white and I'd have preferred a darker color however it looks very nice. In my woodshop it just may start looking dusty. In summary, this is a fantastic radio.

Customer Review: Well above my expectations.
Summary: 5 Stars

I order the Sangean PR-D7 on Friday after reading all the good reviews. I live in an area that has little to no AM reception. I love listening to talk radio and my old radio just wasn't getting the stations. Well, I recieved it today (Monday) and am I pleased! Easy to use, gets all my favorite stations, directions were simple enough to read and understand and all for under $50 dollars shipped (plus the rechargable batteries, but I found those on sale cheap). My husband and I camp alot in the summer months and we'll have a decent radio to take with us now. Only complaint I had is the speaker base is a little too much for me. I'm hard of hearing and it is a bit low for me. But that isn't the fault of the radio, just my lousy hearing. If you want a good radio that gets great reception then this one is it!

Customer Review: Badly designed controls
Summary: 3 Stars

There's nothing more frustrating than being forced to use BOTH hands to deal with a simple portable radio. All the controls could fit conveniently on the top of this unit, leaving the face to have a much bigger, easier to read display. Top-mounted controls don't need a helping had to stabilize the unit; as when using these buttons mounted on the front or side.
Another minor area to whine about: Make the base wider so the unit isn't so "tippy". Shorter, squatter radios are a must for portability that won't tip over!
Still, I love the digital tuning and station memories. Other reviews tout the durability; I've not tossed or dropped mine yet, so I can only hope it takes some abuse.
The rechargeable aspect of the radio is fantastic; I ordered the Sanyo eneloops and am very happy.

Customer Review: Great radio for the money
Summary: 5 Stars

Originally we purchased this radio for my father-in-law. We returned another brand because he preferred to have an AM band AND FM. The one sent back had only FM. The 5 pre-set buttons on the PR D7 are a plus, too. I got another PR D7 for myself. Reception is outstanding--it receives stations clearly when other radios we own pick up more static. I marked durability and battery life at 4 stars because I don't have any real idea of these characteristics yet. I received it about 2-3 weeks ago. I use Sanyo AA eneloop NiMH rechargeable batteries, and they work fine so far. It's handy to be able to remove the radio from the transformer, take it to a ball game, then hook it up at home again, knowing that the batteries will charge without further attention from me.
