Customer Review: Great looks & design, light, decent sound quality.....

I love the design of this little thing. It would look good in a $50K kitchen. Like it was designed by Apple perhaps. So far it works great; receptivity seems fine, but then I've only listened to 2 powerful FM stations about 20 miles away.
The sound quality: Listening to music on this is not that pleasurable to me, but it's OK. Talk radio & news is much less demanding of course, & it seems fine for that. I know that it's the best sound one should expect from such a small, $60-ish, portable radio. And I bought it to have a radio to use that runs on batteries, because there are frequent power outages where I'm located in New England.
A few years ago I bought a Tivoli Audio SongBook. It was more expensive, a lot heavier relatively, & I didn't like the sound quality of it any better, so I returned it. This little Sangean sucker, you could put in your briefcase.
I think I'm gonna keep this little guy.....it's too good looking, & I know when the power goes out, & there's no TV, computer, or high-end audio system to listen to, I'll be happy to have it.

~BOTTOM LINE~
Pros:
1- All the top FM stations in my area come in lound and clear... Crystal clear. No static at all after having locked on an FM station.
2- The single speaker is good enough. Nice and rich tone.
3- Digital tuner lights up when you push any button so you can see the station and the time clearly.
4- If you load it with rechargable batteries, this radio will recharge them. (the Sanyo eneloop rechargables are excellent) Be careful to unplug the adapter when the red light indicates a full charge or else the circuts overheat and the batteries feel hot to the touch. I had that happen to me once. Thought I fried it but after taking the batteries out and allowing it to cool off for 30 minutes it was working fine again.
5- Functions as a alarm clock.
6- AM is also very good. Nice and clear.
7- AC adapter is included.
8- Last but not least, it looks damn good on your table.
Cons:
1) Only 5 presets for each band. I wish it had 10.

I purchased this radio as a Christmas gift for my wife. It was to replace a Sony portable radio that she had. The Sony was a battery hog and when the batteries did die it was instantaneous. There was no gradual weakness or static in the signal; just dead silence. My wife listens to talk radio a lot and often times the Sony would die in the middle of a sentence or conversation. I saw the Sangean PR-D7 online. It looked attractive and used rechargeable batteries so I thought I would give it a try. MY wife has been using the radio for two months and she really likes it. Besides being attractive, it sounds good, has excellent signal strength, has a remaining charge battery indicator, several presets, displays the time and the radio station, has a sleep timer, and a wake up alarm. You can also plug the radio into an outlet if the batteries die. An overall excellent product with great functionality. The money saved on batteries alone pays for this product. I highly recommend the Sangean PR-D7 if you are in the market for a portable radio.Customer Review: A perfect radio.

This radio is a "perfected" product...
Bravo Sangean !!!
As a dedicated radio listener, I have 5 of them in my house (including restrooms).
Both AM and FM work perfectly.
However you need to turn the radio around to get optimum AM reception during night time.
Sound on AM and FM is very satisfactory.
Right now, I am listening to Christmas songs and audio reception is very soothing.
Setting stations is easy. In two clicks a station can be set permanently.
This model comes with "rechargeable" battery option, which I would recommend.
Reason is that if you install rechargeable batteries, you can "charge" them without removing them from the radio.
Just attach the power supply to an outlet (included in product).
This radio is shiny bright white color and is easy to locate.
Control buttons are very well arranged.
I lay the radio on its back, so when ads come in, I quickly press down on the next station.
I call that good ergonomics!
Customer Review: A Strong Comnpetitor To More Expensive Portables

I own quite a few portable radios, and based on the reviews here decided to check this one out. I have two Tivoli Audio Songbook's and there PAL. Don't get me wrong they are very good radios and there sound quality is excellent, but the songbook is bigger and definitely has some quirks that started me looking for another portable radio. This radio has very good sound quality but lacks some of the warmth that the Tivoli's provide. This radio has very solid build quality and the rubber are a very nice touch and feel like they will hold up better than plastic ones. The alarm is easy to set and thankfully has a "Humane Wake Up" option that gradually ramps the volume of the beeping up. All in all a good buy, but like the Tivoli the batteries will not charge while you are listening to the radio. There is no AUX input on this radio for connecting and MP3 player or other sort of device either. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a straight forward portable radio. Sangean makes some very nice radios.
