I was looking for a shower radio and investigated many. Let me comment on the Sangean's performance. Since I am an AM radio listener, AM reception was very important to me. It's nearly impossible to get a good signal in a shower stall, plus I'm 30 miles from the stations as well. None of the other radios i owned would bring in a signal very well if at all. Nonetheless, this radio brings in ALL the stations and does so with little to no static. I'm very impressed with the reception...some of the best ever from a small radio. FM is equally as good but requires the wire antenna be out of its compartment.
Some say the radio is big but I don't get that impression. Yes, it's bigger than some may like for a crowded shower stall but the mounting options give you several good choices. On the downside, the radio has no treble or bass controls. The sound is what it is. That being said the AM radio quality is very good. Good balance of bass and treble. Sounds almost FM like. If the waterproofing holds up as advertised in the shower, this will turn out to be an excellent addition.

This is the third shower radio I've owned and by far the best. Its features and reception make me happy every day that I bought this one. This is the first digital shower radio I've had. That in itself makes it more usable for me because I have 2 favorite stations, one AM, the other FM. Since the FM was more difficult to tune in, I was always reluctant to switch to the AM station. Moreover, anytime I wanted to switch, I was in the shower without my glasses and couldn't make out where I was very well anyway. This radio has the preset buttons and the screen reads easily. Above all, reception is great. I already own a table model by this brand because of its ability to receive AM stations better than most: I'm a big fan of late night talk radio. This shower radio is just as well built as the table model. I have it hanging over the shower head with the majority of the weight on its fabric handles hanging on the suction cup hanger from my previous radio. So it does get a shot of water each time the shower is turned on, and it is unaffected so far. All in all, a great find!Customer Review: Happy every time I use it!

I bought this shower radio a few months ago after reading the positive reviews from other customers on Amazon. So far, it's been great. The sound quality is very good, and I love that there are digital stations instead of a tuning dial - allows you to be more precise in getting the station for better sound quality. Good size - fits in a lot of nooks in my bathroom and seems tough to accidentally knock over - it has some weight to it.
One drawback is that you can't get TV stations on here - I used to be able to get some channels on my old Sharper Image shower radio, but this only has AM and FM stations. Not a big deal, however.
An unexpected plus with this is that it doubles as a flashlight. It has a button on the side to use as a flashlight when camping, or during a blackout in your house. I am one of those people that NEVER has a working flashlight during a power outage. . .but since I use my shower radio every day, it always has working batteries in it! I'm sure this feature will come in handy at some point in the near future.

I decided that I needed a shower radio, so I started reading all of the reviews that I could find and I ran across this radio. Having never heard of Sangean before, needless to say I was skeptical. I finally decided on this radio over a couple of Sony radios. I haven't heard the Sony radios but I can't imagine that they sound any better than this radio and I can almost guarantee that they are not as well built. To make a long story short, this is probably the best shower radio that you can buy. It has pretty solid sound quality, considering what type of product that it is and this is coming from someone who considers themself somewhat of an "audiophile." Bottom line, you won't regret your purchase. It does what it says it does and does so at a high quality level. *One extra note, If you are mounting it in your shower, mount it at the level at which your head (ears) will be while taking a shower. This will improve the volume and quality of the sound. If it is placed too far above or below this level, you may not hear the full sound potential that this radio has.*Customer Review: Receiving almost loud and clear!

I purchased this product after researching it here on Amazon. All in all I am very happy with the radio. It is extremely sturdy and seems well made. The reception seems good and I can get NPR radio without a problem unlike with my bedside radio. The single speaker is fairly loud, although at higher levels it does distort a little. As I tend to listen to "talk radio" in the shower, I am just at the level where it becomes an issue.
One other small issue is the LCD screen which loses contrast if placed at an angle. I have mounted my radio about a foot above head height up on a wall at the end of the shower. If the backlight is on, it makes it a little worse! This being said, now that the radio is tuned in and set up, it doesn't present that big a problem!
I agree with other reviewers that the alarm and flashlight are a little strange for features, but then, if the lights ever do go out while I am mid shower, I'm sure I will be grateful for the illumination.
As I say, all in all, a nice product that I am pleased I purchased.
