I'm on my second RCR-22 and still don't have one that works properly. The first unit's atomic clock set nicely but the time zone switch didn't work. The clock would stay set to MST no matter which time zone was selected or DST switched on and off and since I live on the East coast this was a 2 hour deal breaker. [Customer service at Sangean was incredibly slow to respond to my questions and ultimately didn't have any solutions other than to send it back for replacement.] Amazon was great about sending a replacement but the the second unit is fatally flawed too. The clock on the second unit works great as does the radio on both AM and FM. Now the problem is the alarm functions - they worked fine on the first unit in both buzzer and radio mode but don't work at all on this one. The buzzer alarm's only output is quiet static that the underside volume control doesn't change. Setting the alarm to an AM or FM station and day(s) to activate is easy, the alarm activates at the right time and day but the radio doesn't turn on. After 2 duds in a row I'm giving up on Sangean!!

I got this atomic clock because I wanted to replace my older clock that would automatically adjust to the OLD Daylight Savings Time schedule.
Well, I wasn't disappointed as this radio adjusted to the new schedule with no problem.
The only problem I have is that you have to turn up the brightness on the display during the daytime in order to see the time from across the room. But then at bedtime, the display brightness is then too high and has to be turned down again. A reviewer mentioned that he wished the clock came with a photo sensor (auto dimmer). Now I know what he was talking about.
Every other feature about this radio is great as mentioned by the other reviewers.
Here's some additional info that I don't think has been covered yet:
The atomic signal sensor "capsule" has a 32" extension wire so that you can mount it away from the radio if necessary.
The radio has a 41" external FM antenna wire.
To test the "super capacitor", I unplugged the radio for 3 hours and to my surprise the radio still kept my alarm and tuner settings!

I bought this alarm clock mainly to let me have a clock radio that I could use the sleep function on and have input to my ipod. My alarm clock is a different radio.
I love it. The reception is great. If a few things were changed around it would be my only one.
I love the multiple alarm settings
I love that you can set the alarm to any digital station or input and it will use that rather than what you had on last.
I like the light setting that lights up when you touch it.
I wish:
I wish the volume for the alarm could be set different than what the sleep settings were on last. My Timex I have now for my alarm does do that. It has a sleep volume and the master volume.
I wish the numbers were bigger or better contrast so that I could see it more easily with my glasses off.
I wish it could charge my ipod as well as use the 3.5 cable so that I didn't have to have 2 cables.
I wish that I could use the headset function for sleep sound but tell it to use the regular speakers for the alarm.

I bought this clock for my wife because her old clock's sound quality was very poor and she hates to set it. My clock has nice Timex Indiglo face, so I was a bit worried about the comments about the display on this radio. And I have to admit the default brightness is stunning in dark room, but using the knob on the bottom allows you to turn the brightness down to where the face is unreadable, so it's not an issue, you can get whatever brightness level you want. The controls are a bit non-intuitive, but after browsing the manual it's not an issue, and after several minutes by the window it was synchronized. Since we just passed the "new" Daylight Savings date, I really appreciate the feature to just push a button to have the clock make the switch, my old Timex still thinks it's the old date so I have to set it twice in spring and fall now. I also have to say the sound quality is very good, even on AM, though we have a second story bedroom so that probably helps reception. All in all this is a nice little (it's quite small) radio and I'd recommend it.Customer Review: Great Clock Radio

This is a super clock radio. Atomic function worked great, the alarms set to the day of the week is a great feature, and the sound is very good for a clock radio. My only suggestion would be to add a battery backup, but as we don't live in an area prone to power outages this isn't really a big deal for us.
There are two recurring complaints about this clock in the reviews: the brightness of the display and the difficulty of the owner's manual. The display is adjustable on the bottom of the clock and can be dimmed to the point where you can't read the display. This clock is far more dim than the Sony it replaced for us. The manual isn't bad, and the controls are pretty intuitive. I did need to look up how to adjust for DST the first time I did it (Hold the "set" button for 4 seconds to move an hour up in the spring and again for 4 seconds to move an hour down in the fall. Not too complex.) but otherwise the functions are really straightforward.
When it's time for another clock radio I'd buy this one again.
