Item works great with my Macmini1,1. I had a spare TOSLink cable after I switched my receiver from Component video+optical audio to HDMI. This adapter allowed me to use the TOSLink optical cable between the mac's headphone jack output port to the receiver. It delivers raw Digital sound direct from DVDs for my receiver to decode. So, now I get real Dolby digital, instead of the analog pro logic version.
I'm pretty sure (95%) that I ordered the right angled version, but I ended up with the straight. Clicking on my amazon order sends me to the right angle version or the straight through version depending on which link in the order I select. It's not worth the effort to swap it out for the right angled version..
Oh, I got mine from bargaincell, they shipped from Baldwin Park - it was estimated to take a week, but since Baldwin Park is very close, it arrived next day regular USPS.
