Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sandisk ImageMate 5-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader SDDR-99Customer Review: Quick and Easy Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two of these, one for me to transfer music and one for my wife to transfer pictures. Neither of us have even looked at the software that came with the unit. My player excepts 2GB cards so that's what I use. About 90% of my 700+ CD collection has been converted to MP3s so filling the cards was straight forward for me, the unit took about 5 minutes to transfer the files.
I have three computers so I thought why not so I loaded an 8GB card from one computer to another. About 15 minutes later I had the card loaded, it was slightly warm an I did notice it got warmer when I was transferring from the SD card to a computer. Compared to the rechargeable batteries this thing doesn't even get warm.
For me the cord is a bit long but probably someone else will think it's too short, it's about 42 inches long. I used the bread tie that came on the cord so it's a better length but for those with USB connectors only on th back of their computer it should be plenty long enough.
The only down side is the card slot has no cover so if you have cats or a dog or two you might want to put it away after using it.
Customer Review: Much faster than your camera or PDA for uploading/downloading data Summary: 5 Stars
If I use my PDA or camera to sync or up/download files it takes a long time just to fully view everything on the disc by comparison to using this reader. Up/downloading from the camera or PDA isn't really slow, but once I used this reader that was it for transferring files by connection to the camera or PDA. Using the reader, it's comparatively instantaneous, couldn't be faster.
Note that I'm using a 2007 Casio Exilim and a Palm Treo 650--so it's not a case of my camera and pda being old and slow, they just weren't made to be used as drives except as a convenience.
I've had absolutely no problems with this reader, or the one I had been using for years before for a different type of memory card.
BOTTOM LINE: If you have a digital camera or PDA which uses some kind of removable disc memory, it's well worth the extra bucks to get the appropriate SanDisk brand reader to make transferring files more convenient and much faster. After all, you spend a lot of money on your devices and memory, so why not spend another $20 or so to have optimal data transfer and handling.
Customer Review: Easy , Convienent, and necessary Summary: 5 Stars

Before child, I went to the store with the picture station and did my picture work on it -- to save my printer ink?!? We looked at buying this the same time we bought our Cannon s2 powershot, but decided that it wasn't necessary and why spend another $20 on something we didn' need?. Boy were we wrong.

After child, I ordered this reader and voila! I have pictures to email to grandmas in seconds. I can fill a picture album in a much shorter amount of time, and for less money than the picture station, and it is soo easy.
Our machine works great, I leave the reader plugged in and insert my sd- pictures transfer in a second, video in a few seconds. We love it and now I know why my digital camera is better than my SLR, my advantix and my 35mm. Instant pictures of my son, sent out the same day to the people who can't hold him daily is priceless, luckily the device that makes it possible has a price that is amazingly low for great service it provides.
Customer Review: Extremely useful device Summary: 5 Stars
This SanDisk reader makes it very easy to maintain a digital photo collection. Before I bought one on an intuitive whim, I had been connecting my digital cameras to my computer. What a mistake I was making. The first time I used the reader, the response was instantaneous, and the transfer speed excellent. I save battery power on the camera and time since transfer with a camera tends to be slower.
Also, because the reader is so easy to use (and because I use Picasa - [...]- very intuitive photo management software), I am finding a lot more joy in phototaking, since the organization and saving process is faster. I take more digital pictures now than I ever did.
One note: I even tried putting a Sony MemoryStick into the slot, and the reader was able to read the files perfectly even though the form factor of the MemoryStick is smaller; this was a great bonus.
Customer Review: Reads SDHC like a champ Summary: 5 Stars
As most people know, SanDisk is really the Cadillac of flash memory products, and this is no disappointment to me. Turns out my Canon A570IS camera has some sort of driver problem downloading files over ~300MB on the USB connection, so I wanted a card reader that handled SDHC so I didn't have to go through the camera (my built-in card reader on the laptop handles SD but not SDHC, of course). In any case, this is perfect, works like a charm out of the box, SD, SDHC, etc.etc. I have a PNY 8GB class 4 card, meaning it should read/write at 4MB/sec or higher, and I just benchmarked the read speed at over 7 MB/sec, and the write at about 4.5 MB/sec on this particular card, which leads to believe, as expected, that this SanDisk device runs at maximum speed for your card. So this is the device you want. Have no hesitation, SanDisk practically invented this technology, you know.
