Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sandisk Extreme FireWire ReaderCustomer Review: Sandisk Firewire Reader not VISTA 64 Compatible Summary: 1 Stars
Sandisk Extreme Firewire Reader Locks up and Creates the Blue Screen of Death on New Dell 04/20/2009 Vista 64 Machine. Stick with the USB2 Reader for your compact Flash. Sure this is a Fast Unit But it needs new Drivers.
Perhaps Sandisk can provide them some time in the near future while this hardware is still useable. Do not purchase unless you can find reliable 64bit Vista Drivers from Sandisk or Microsoft.

Customer Review: FAST CF Card reader!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using the old Sandisk USB Imagemate 8-in-1 for the last few years. I finally had the chance to purchase this firewire reader. This thing screams fast!! I'm only using fw400 and can tell the difference between this and USB 2.0.
I performed several copy tests of about 1gb of data / 100+ files. This drive is about 2x as fast as the USB reader.
I highly recommend this to anyone who transfer a lot of data from CF cards (photographers).
Customer Review: NIce, but dead in less than a year Summary: 3 Stars
There's not much to dislike, unless you plan on keeping this thing in active service for a while. Mine died after 7 months - in the middle of a download. That event corrupted the info on the card (two other readers couldn't open the files). I eventually saved the 300+ images with Sandisk's Rescue app, but that's REALLY slow (and of course, not guaranteed to work).
I'll send it in for replacement under the Sandisk warranty, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again.
Customer Review: Not for Win7 Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this reader to download photos onto my PC which runs on Windows 7. It is slower than my old $15 USB reader! My PC tells me that the driver being utilized is a Microsoft driver dated 6/21/06 and that it is the most current driver available. A look at the SanDisk website shows 2 things: there is no SanDisk driver available for this reader for Win7, and that a number of other people posting on the forum have the same problem with no help from SanDisk.
Customer Review: WARNING: Not compatible with 4-pin Firewire Summary: 3 Stars
If you have a compatible firewire port, this may be a great card reader. However, it does not work with a 4-pin port, which is all that my new HP laptop has. This fact is not included in the Amazon product info, but it can be found, with some digging around on the Sandisk website. This should be clearly noted here, as the "Product Description" does say that it works with both the 400 and 800 standards, which I thought meant it work with my 4-pin port.
