Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sandisk 8GB Cruzer Titanium USB 2.0 Flash Drive (SDCZ7-8192-A11, Retail Package)

Customer Review: Durable
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned the 4GB version for a very long time now and it hasn't skipped a beat and remains as durable as anything. Now with the 8GB version I have double the capacity with the same metal case. Static shock does not affect this drive as I've tested it repeatedly in the past to disprove the theory that the metal casing conducts electricity to the chip(s). If you want something you can keep in your pocket with your keys then this is the drive for you. I just wish it was in the 16GB flavor :/

Btw Sandisk has a free app on their site so you can remove the pre-insntalled U3 junk if you never plan on using it.

Customer Review: Great little device, annoying but easy to delete U3 software
Summary: 4 Stars

Sturdy design. Retractable USB function works well with the metal frame (I often had trouble with the mechanism on my old, plastic one b/c it would retract as I tried to plug the device in, making it extremely difficult and frustrating to use). The thing really feels like it could take a bullet and still work.

The one real annoyance is the U3 software, but it's really easy to delete if desired, and I suppose someone out there might want some of the software it includes.

Overall, a great product. This is actually a replacement for a 2gb titanium thumb drive I loved but lost.

Customer Review: It ain't dainty
Summary: 4 Stars

This flash drive looks and feels more substantial than many of the cheapo novelty drives that sell for much less. The metal casing is sturdy and durable, which will hopefully prevent it from meeting the same fate as my last plastic drive (death by puppy teeth). The connector slides into the body of the drive when not in use, but the connector's opening remains uncovered when retracted. This means that a little rock or other debris could find its way into the opening and cause problems, something of which you should be aware if you intend to carry it around in your pocket (or your bag of dirt).

Customer Review: Solid and Sleek
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm very happy with this thumb drive. All the previous ones i've owned had plastic shells and easily broke off my key chain. When i first opened the factory sealing on this thumb drive, i immediately was impressed with the titanium shell. It makes you feel secure that it can take a tremendous beating, but it's also shiny and smooth to the touch. And of course the fact that the usb connector slides in and out foregoing the need for a cap is a huge plus. I've lost the caps on every single one of my previous thumb drives and i've always found it so irritatingly inevitable that i would.

Customer Review: Great Memories
Summary: 5 Stars

I had another memory stick before this one made of plastic. I carried it around in my pocket for files I wanted to use on both my work and home computer. The old plastic one was wearing out just from knocking around in my pocket and I was afraid of loosing something if it fell apart. This titanium memory stick is much more rugged and has no wear on it at all in the months I've been carrying it around. I also like the retractable USB tongue. The software works well and the installation was completely automatic. No need for any effort on my part. Nice product.
