Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sandisk 8GB Cruzer Titanium USB 2.0 Flash Drive (SDCZ7-8192-A11, Retail Package)

Customer Review: Good solid flash drive
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the third Sandisk tianium Cruzer flash drive that I have used over the past six years (512MB, 2GB and now 8GB). I was very happy with a two year old 2GB Cruzer but was occaionally finding the need for more cpaacity - so at such an inexpensive price it was hard to pass up.

It has always made sense to me to buy a flash drive with a metal case, and this drive meets the rugged, polished construction standards of my prevous Titanium drives.

Because I am carrying some proprietary information on this drive, I opt to use the U3 technology. In the past, I have deleted this from previous cruzer drives to avoid conflicts with Nero software or Norton AV. I am not using either apps now, so it's not an issue.

I have not given this product a 5-star review for two reasons. First, this pruduct didn't ship with a lanyard as the 2GB version had previously. Secondly, It uses a reddish, orange indicator light which annoyingly pulsates instead of the steady, blue light of previous Sandisk drives.

Overall, a sturdy, reliable drive.

Customer Review: No buyer's remorse
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my second Sandisk Cruzer Titanium and the first one is still working (over four years later.) I wouldn't say that these things are indistructable but they can take abuse as I am not gentle with my usb drives. I do have two minor complaints though. First I tried out the U3 software that comes with the drive but it was more of a hassle when I mainly just use my drive as a dumb storage (they do make U3 extremely easy to unistall.) I did however go to portableapps.com and downloaded something that does almost the same thing but doesn't auto run and has a cleaner user interface. The second thing is that Sandisk didn't include a lanyard so now I am using my PNY Atache lanyard for my Cruzer so because of their cheapness I am wearing a competitors advert. BTW I am using the Atache lanyars because the Atache case broke hence my decision to buy a larger capacity Ti drive. I don't care too much about having to use another companies lanyard but bad decision for Cruzer. So to sum up, this is a great drive and I am very happy I purchased the 8GB Cruzer Ti.

Customer Review: Best USB drive I've ever bought, and tough as hell!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've put this thing through hell. I wear it on a carabiner attached to a beltloop that is constantly crashing it against countertops, tables, desks, my keys, you name it. I've dropped it, stepped on it, had someone throw it at the ground and even DRIVE OVER IT (granted it was a stock little Honda Civic,) but this thing still keeps on going.

The part I love most about it is the fact that you can retract the usb adapter itself into the metal housing of the flash drive. There has been no more aggravating a moment as when you have a bunch of information (especially if it's for work!) on a flash drive and the tip decides one day nope, I don't feel like hanging on anymore, and breaks right off, rendering your USB flash drive completely useless. With this drive's retractable adapter, I never have to worry about it. Ever.

I give this product the five stars it absolutely deserves. I wish every flash drive I've ever bought had been half as tough as this one. Sandisk has really hit the jackpot on this one.

Customer Review: Sturdy and reliable
Summary: 4 Stars

I had a Cruiser Micro and I always liked it, so when i was looking for a new 8GB memory stick, I thought about this immediately. I have no major complaint. The only thing is, I wish it is a bit faster, but definitely it is not slower compared with other standard USB memory sticks, so it is not a major complaint. If I need another USB memory stick, I definitely consider buying another one.

Pros:
(1) Sturdy. It's heavy but gives and impression that it is not breaking down easily.
(2) I like the retractable head. I don't like a cap.
(3) Decent speed. Not a F-1 machine, but definitely not shabby.
(4) Actually I like the appearance a lot.

Cons (all minor)
(1) U3. I immediately uninstalled and reformatted it. i just don't use it.
(2) Wish it is a tad faster.
(3) Not with a neck strap (my older Cruiser Micro came with a strap, which I like a lot. Actually I am using this exact strap for this new baby).

You will not regret buying this product. Cheers.

Customer Review: Good & Sturdy
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought one of the older titaniums (512MB version) several years back and was very happy with it. But it started to be a little temperamental in detecting consistently when plugged in. After trying out 3 or 4 other flash drives since then, it turns out it's a common problem with Windows XP. I won't fault it for that, and it still works even 5 years later.

I decided to come back to the model recently, and give it a try again with their latest 8GB model. So far, I'm very impressed. Works just as well as the original, and still very sturdy. I have no first-hand proof of it's advertised run-it-over-with-a-car level of crush resistance, but it's certainly not flimsy. Speed is very good and the USB connector retracts for durability. I hate loosing caps all the time, so it's a must for me. I wish they would come out with a 16GB version, as you can never have enough storage space. Very happy with the product. No complaints.
