Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sandisk 4GB Secure Digital SD HC Memory Card (SDSDB-4096, BULK, No Reader)

Customer Review: Bad experience - Don't buy from Jowow
Summary: 1 Stars

We got a 4gb sdhc card from Amazon (seller Jowow) with our new Casio camera.
Every 10th picture or so, the picture would be corrupt.
By corrupt, I mean exactly 1/2 was blue, and the other half was fine.
You couldn't tell when you took the picture, it was only when you went back to view it. We had a lot of pictures we thought were good, and it turned out they were not.
At any rate, we worked with Casio on the issue, and put in our old 1gb card. The picture problems went away.

First seller Jowow tried to say our camera was not compatible with the memory card. I then sent them the manual and got this response:

"Please return your device to: Jowow Returns
We will take your memory card and thoroughly test it.
If it is defective, we will send a replacement to you."

So they are going to thoroughly test a product under $10... hardly.
They want you to pay for shipping and then tell you the card was fine.

At any rate, from this seller at least I wouldn't buy this card.
I'll have to throw mine away and buy from a 'brick-n-mortar' store that will care about customer service.

Iwas charged more than 4x what I paid for the card and I bought mine from Chitek the low price was great and I got some free items with it but they broke the items into 3 shipments (i bought 2 cards and got two free items)and charged me for three shipments but they came in one package a USPS package that should have only cost a few dollars to ship 1st class. I know because i am in the military and we only recieve pkgs 1st class. I guess we pay extra for serving our country in a foreign land. yes and i looked at their rates after i recieved the items (my faullt)and look at the apo charges they are outrageous. I am deployed and amazon is one of the few companys that serve us(military) well and i am disappointed they allow this to happen so i am going to spread the word to my fellow servicemen and women. low price is not always the best espscially on amazon.Sandisk 4GB Secure Digital SD HC Memory Card (SDSDB-4096, BULK, No Reader)

Customer Review: Pretty Good
Summary: 3 Stars

Be sure to get this at a good price, since as many have said it is quite risky to find yourself spending more than what you originally planned for. Now, on to the actual review. I've used this memory for just about anything, games, music, photos, etc etc. It is pretty sturdy and should not prove a problem when in use. I had this up on my wii for most of the time, then I bought some more and put them to different use. IT isnt too hard to figure out at all, I installed it into my camera and it worked well, its pretty intuitive. Just pop it in and connect it to your pc and your photos should show up. I am very happy with this product and believe I will buy some more, again the price is not too shabby and the quality uis just right as well so it makes sense, for me. I would have liked to been able to get just a little larger size out of it since it is pretty pricy, but after all you could just buy in a bundle and save some cash. The support is no too great but after all this is a decent product. Buy at your own risk.

Customer Review: Works well
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this product after running out of room on my Nikon D40 DSLR camera. The card is recognized by the camera and expands my current capacity (1 GB Card) from 200 pictures to 1000+ pictures.

I have one notable issue - not with the card, but with the way Nikon handles larger capacity cards. The D40 (and as I understand it, the D80 as well), only displays 3 digits for the picture capacity. As such, my camera displays the card capacity as having 1.0K instead of 1000. This is apparently by design. As you cross from 1000+ pictures to 999 pictures, the camera does indeed show 999.

One other minor issue. SanDisk should have included a carrying case for the SD card. No case was included, thus I must always store an SD card in my camera and swap the other 2 cards I have. This shouldn't increase the cost very much, but would have been a very welcome addition.

Customer Review: Make sure you can read it.
Summary: 4 Stars

Standard SD and SDHC cards look identical in size and shape, only SDHC-compatible products will be able to accept the new SDHC cards. SanDisk differentiates its new cards with the new SDHC logo on the card and retail package.

Now my web research finds that at the time of its release Wes Brewer, vice president of consumer product marketing at SanDisk, said, "In order to provide the easiest and most compatible solution for 4GB and larger capacity SDHC cards in the market, SanDisk chose to bundle its new MicroMate USB 2.0 SD/SDHC compatible card reader, which normally retails for $19.99, with this new card."

Note this deal does not include a reader.

In my case the device I bought it for can read it. Without the dedicated reader my year old HP computer cannot .
