Customer Review: bought two, one product defective; so far poor customer service resolution

I ordered this product on Christmas day and did receive it promptly, prior to outer shipping date range. I ordered 2 SD cards and the related free card readers.
I had used my new camera with the internal memory prior to receipt of the new SD cards without a problem. When the cards were received I took the camera out with a card properly installed. Prior to purchase I had downloaded the camera manual and confirmed that the cards were approved for us in this camera.
The camera began freezing up and not working correctly. I could not even turn it off. I had to do a hard reboot by removing the battery to restore camera function. After this happened several times, I was fearful that my camera was a 'lemon'. However, remembering that it worked FINE without the SD card, I removed it after removing the battery so I could turn the camera off.
The camera worked fine on re-boot. And did not work again with the SD card installed. I did not have the 2nd card with me.
I went to a local store and bought a new SD card. The camera worked without a problem. I returned home and could not access the SD card through my computer via the card reader received as a 'free' gift with the purchase. It locked up my computer. I tried the 2nd card in the card reader, and it worked normally. So I tried it in my camera. It works in the camera as well. So it was very clear to me that it wasn't that I ordered incompatible cards, but a defect in the one card.
I emailed Blue Proton on 1/1/11 regarding the problem after confirming that the other products worked. I did not hear back from them for a full business week so re-sent my email with a follow up note on 1/8/11. I also gave the seller a one star review noting not even hearing back from them (and included that info in my email).
Today Monday Jan 10th I received a prompt note from the seller that they would reimburse me for the cost of the SD card rather than sending me a new one. I later got an email from Amazon indicating a partial reimbursement for the SD card, with a subtraction for the 'free' reader, and nothing for the shipping.
I should not be paying for shipping for a defective product, nor should I have to pay anything for the advertised 'free' product since it was their choice to reimburse me rather than send me a working product.
I would not buy this product, nor would I trust the seller Blue Proton.
I have written them again and informed them of the amount that should be credited to my account. I'll update this review and let you know if, after pressure, they honor their product and not charge me for receipt of a defective product.
