Customer Review: Better purchase than the Ipod
Summary: 4 Stars

I was considering between the sansa m250, sansa e250 and the Ipod nano.
Considering my phone already plays videos and displays pictures, I went with the simple m250 for the reasonable price of 68 bucks over the more expensive e250. The nano was much too expensive for the same amount of storage, not to mention the navigation wheel for the Ipod that bugs me to no end.

I've had this player for a couple weeks, and it's been working great. Got about 220 songs bumping, with still about 980mb left to go. I've been pretty much taking it everywhere, in addition to the main purpose I got it for jogging. The player initially feels cheap and brittle, but with the blue case I purchased, it has a more sturdy feel and it even makes it look cuter and more appealing. I was originally turned off by the looks of this player, but it looks really nice with the baby blue case. The case also provides a belt clip that makes it comfortable for jogging.

I haven't had any problems with it so far. The radio is a nice alternative when I feel like something different from my list of songs. Oh, definitely get new headphones, cuz the one that comes with the player is pretty standard, but not great or all that comfortable. The AAA battery it uses is also nice, considering I have rechargeable batteries. I don't need a USB to charge it when I travel, like you would for an IPOD or the e250. Only bad thing may be that you're stuck with the 2gb storage, where the e250 has a SD slot where u can expand for more memory.

Definitely a better value than the IPOD, although not as trendy. I would recommend this player.

Customer Review: Clip holding battery in is poorly design and breaks
Summary: 2 Stars

Battery door breaks after 1 year. Right after warranty expires. I purchased this M250 slightly over a year ago and haven't use it often, nor has it been abused about the door to the battery broke. There is a small clip holding the battery door which is poorly designed. The clip on the battery door is a thin plastic clip that flex allowing the door to be open or close; unfortunately, the plastic is thin and it breaks off leaving nothing to hold the battery in place. Therefore the unit will not be good. Since the M250 uses only one small battery, the battery have to be replace in a day or two with a few hours of usage. This stress the clip every time it is use to open the door so it breaks. It seem to be a common breaking problem because two support person tells me to purchase a case from Amazon to hold the battery in, thats what they do since they have the similar problem. To me this is the cheap solution which the customer have to pay for San Disk's common defect problem from a poor design. Sandisk does not have a door which they can send you nor that you can purchase so your M250 would be dead soon after purchase since there won't be anything keeping the battery in. I have never abuse the product and have not use it often since I own three mp3 players, (all different models). 2 of my 3 mp3 players are San Disk brands and both have quality issues that are unbelievable. I would not recommend this unless it is intended as a temporarily unit intended for traveling if you worry about losing your better mp3 player and want a cheap one which you can later discard. Nano mp3 players are better made and seem more solid .

Customer Review: Own it by default
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this for my daugher. She has a Mac, but we weren't wanting to spend the extra money on an Ipod. After reading lots of reviews, including a number that indicated that they figured out how to use this device with a Mac, I bought this for her. While she was able to rip music from CDs to the player, she was NOT able to sync music from ITunes to the player. More research showed that she would have to convert the files, one-by-one, in order to get the music from her laptop to the MP3 player. She decided that wasn't worth the effort, spent her Christmas money on an Ipod, and gave me the SanDisk.

I already have a 1gb Zen Creative Stone that I absolutely love, and would not have picked this MP3 player out for myself, because it's so different. I hadn't worked with Windows Media Player enough in the past to be comfortable with it, so it took a little trial and error to figure out what I was doing. Once I relaxed a little bit, it worked just fine, and I loaded up the player over the course of a couple of movie nights.

The included documentation is woefully lacking. For instance, the guide that comes with it doesn't even show what the symbol for shuffle (as opposed to repeat) looks like. The mini install disk works fine in my PC, but not my laptop. It doesn't have any more information than you'll find on the internet, though.

While it's nice to have the display and know what's playing, the display is much more helpful when using the menu. The FM tuner, voice recorder, and stopwatch are all handy features. I like the equalizer, too (found under "settings" in the menu.)

Customer Review: Fantastic & Cheap MP3 Player
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the second mSansa player I have purchased; the first was the M230, which served me very well until I decided I needed more space and bought the m250. A little about what makes this player so wonderful:
- Simplicity. Just plug it in and your computer will recognize it as a storage device. You can just drag and drop MP3s onto the player without needing to do any crazy syncing.
- Removable battery. It takes one AAA battery; I use rechargeable ones, and they last for weeks without needing to be charged.
- Small, light, ultra-portable. This thing fits easy in my pocket, or it comes with a cover and strap if you want to wear it while doing sporty activities. It's so light you won't notice it's there.
- Ergonomic - maybe this doesn't matter to some, but it is a very comfortable fit in my hand if I'm just walking around with it.
- Pick up where you left off - if you pause the player, it will turn itself automatically after awhile to conserve batteries. When you turn it back on, it is right where you left off. This is especially convenient for me when listening to audio books or doing language classes I've ripped to this player.
- FM radio - it picks up my favorite station 45 miles away, which is more than I can say for my old desk radio.
If you are looking to create tons of iPod-style playlists, use a trackwheel, or watch videos on your MP3 player do not buy this product. If you are looking for something small, simple, and inexpensive then this is what you should buy. Functionally, it is basically a tiny CD player that holds a ton of music.

Customer Review: first one broke; very happy with the replacement
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this little player on sale right after Christmas. Unfortunately, the first one stopped working after one day. (Hint: don't delete the files that come on the player like the wmpinfo files!) The good news is that I got a replacement shipped to me from Amazon the very same day. I won't hesitate to try any product that is shipped directly from Amazon in the future because the refund/replacement was so easy.

The new one is working great. I like the AAA battery. Recharging the batteries on some players is a real pain if you are not at your desk or computer all day. Just pack an extra battery and you're good for the weekend! The buttons are large and easy to use, and the screen is not huge but big enough to read. It's not tiny, but it's a nice palm-sized light little player.

The only thing I dislike about the player is that you must have Windows Media Player V.10 or V.11 to create playlists. If you don't care about playlists, then you can just drag and drop your files to the player from your pc and let the player organize them for you. There are several how-to guides on the internet for creating playlists for the Sandisk M250.

This player is compatible with Audible files, as is not always the case with Sandisk players. You can't really organize them, they all go into a playlist called Spoken Word.

The bottom line is - once I got used to this player's little quirks I am really enjoying it, and it was a real bargain. If you don't want to shell out the bucks for an IPOD, this is your mp3 player.
