Customer Review: love it
Summary: 5 Stars

I bougth two of these to use on our trip to the beach. I did not want to bring my ipods classics as those are too big, too expensive, and have too much data on them. I use the ipods as juxeboxes really, and these tiny sansa players as portable players. I love them. I did extensive research on getting a CHEAP mp3 player for our beach trip, and ended up buying these. 2GB is more then enough space to fit a couple of audio books (all of dexter for example). Plus the 2GB can be expanded later on by inserting a tiny sort of memory card. Audio is good. I like the buttons on the unit. MP3's are easily added to the unit by dragging and dropping them using windows explorer. Battery live is very long, never had it run out on me yet. I have had it for over a month now. I would recommend updating to the latest software as soon as you get the unit though. The update program comes on an included CD-ROM.

Highly recommended. Best buy inexpensive MP3 player.

Customer Review: Great features but nearly DOA

Bought it for a gift for Christmas (tomorrow but we did gifts today). Out of the box it had to charge a while before the computer would recognize it. She loaded her music fine and was using it for a bit and was working fine then when browsing the folders it locked up and shut off. It will not restart and I can't get it to restart. It has a built in li-polmer battery so you can't manually remove it to powercycle the unit.

I'll make sure it sits overnight or longer and if it'll boot up again after the battery dies and is recharged in the computer I'll run the firmware program and hopefully it'll fix it but I doubt it from past experience.

I was going to buy one for myself as it's nicer than my really cheap no name aaa battery powered cheap looking Centon MP3 player but now I'll stick with my cheapie cause it actually works. I had hoped for b etter quality since it was a sandisk product but I guess not.

Customer Review: Out of 5 MP3 Players, Shortest Lifespan
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased the Sansa Express last week through Amazon.com. It was cheap, had a direct USB drive, was expandable, and I liked the look of it. It arrived today -- and it doesn't work.

It is not recognized by the computer. There is no driver to install. Sansa's Firmware Updater does not recognize it. I get the USB drive malfunctioned error. Shutting down the laptop and restarting doesn't work. Downloading and installing Windows Media Player 11 didn't work. Installing MTP Pack by Windows as was recommended as a possible solution didn't work. Tried plugging it in by pressing the Volume - button at the same time. That didn't work. The mp3 player doesn't turn on. Tried resetting (pressing Menu/Power button with Volume + button). Didn't work. Tried doing all of above with a microSD chip included. Failed. I looked up possible solutions online and tried them all.

This was my first experience with a Sansa - and most likely my last.

Customer Review: Very Pleased!

The price on these has come way down in two years. I have two other sansa mp3 players at home and thought about trying this one, for under $30 how could one go wrong? I love how it just plugs into any computer's USB to charge and to add and delete from the music library, both external MicroSD and internal memory. You'll see it as two different drives on 'My Computer' on your laptop or PC. All you do is drag and drop. The battery charges very quickly too. It will even charge while it is playing.
The one drawback so far is that on three different occasions, the MicroSD card popped out of it. I actually lost a Micro 2 gb SD card because I don't know where it fell out. Since I really only use one card, I am going to put tape over it next time I insert one. Sandisk Sansa keeps pushing their own envelope. I have stuck with them through all their mp3 players and will continue to do so. Maybe one day I'll start a Sansa MP3 player museum.

Customer Review: Great Little Device
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned this thing for the past 2ish years and haven't had a single problem with it. 6 months ago I bought an ipod touch just because it's undeniably a nifty gadget. 5 months ago I reverted to using my sansa express for my portable music needs. Why? It's a little difficult changing tracks in your pocket when the only thing resembling playback controls is a minimum 3 step virtual button pressing process on a glass touchscreen (not really tactile friendly). I know I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but at the end of the day it's really about the music and not so much the great potential web surfing experience you can have on a 4 inch touchscreen. Plus, with the sansa now at $26, I'm not gonna have a breakdown if it gets lost/stolen/destroyed like I might have if it was a $200 ipod.
Anyway, great little simple device. You can really beat the crap outa it and it just keeps serving up music without giving you grief. It's got buttons too.
