Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Sansa Express 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)Customer Review: Badly designed; defective Summary: 1 Stars
Before the device died, my chief complaints were that the device and its buttons are symmetrical, so that if you want to push, say, the pause button, you cannot locate it by feeling for it, but have to stop and look at the machine. Another flaw in the design was that if you pause in the middle of a track, and do not resume after a few seconds, you cannot go back to the place you left off, but have to start from the beginning of the track. Sometimes, however, when resuming, the device would go not to the beginning of the track, but to a random place in the track. Then the device started skipping tracks: instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... it would play 1, 3, 5, 7 etc. Customer Service would not deal with my questions, because this is a "legacy" item, they said. Its battery lasted about 3 hours. Then it died and would not recharge. Amazon said it would refund my money, and made it easy to get this done, but I wasted a lot of time on this piece of junk. Amazon: please stop selling it. SanDisk: you also should not sell junk, because if you have good products, customers who have been burned by this one will not buy them. It would be in your interest to throw these things away.
Customer Review: Would be The Ideal Player... Summary: 2 Stars
As advertised this would be the greatest portable player for use in the gym..small, lightweight, decent size memory of 2 GB, can be used with Rhapsody service, FM radio..
I bought this player about 4 months ago to use with my Rhapsody subscription, easy to use, very lightweight however the software updater never worked correctly, every time I plugged it in to USB port on my pc the software would tell me there was an update and it always failed to install. I contacted Sansa and they insisted I re-install software however that never worked after a few tries. I eventually just uninstalled the software for good..was a $20 player..why bother with the updates? I'd probably buy a new player in a year or so anyway. The player worked as I intended and I was satisfied to that point...player is flimsy and short battery life but worked as advertised (less the updates)
Now one of the buttons to skip to next song does not work and I cannot get in touch with Sansa, my online account I created when registering the player seems to have been deleted. I really don't think it's worth the bother any longer and I will buy another player however it will *NOT* be a Sansa.
Customer Review: Wasted my money Summary: 1 Stars
Okay, so I'm a complete newbie with mp3 players and apparently not smart enough to operate it. The instructions were inadequate for me, even after printing out all 17 pages and writing my own notes all over them as I attempted for several days to use the player to listen to an audio book I had downloaded from my public library. The worst part was trying to navigate to the forty-third minute of the second section of Alan Alda's book. The last straw was when I had to turn it off (yet again), after getting myself in a complete muddle, and on restarting, all I got was the blue word SanDisk. No animated critter, no "building database" message, no access to menus, and not even able to turn it off with the power button. This happened while driving to work, and it stayed like this for 20 minutes, until a coworker showed me that I could jump-start it by sticking it into the USB drive of a computer. After it froze like that for the second day in a row I put it away and haven't tried to use it again in more than a month.
How do I get my money back? Surely not from Amazon...
Customer Review: Took the hammer to it. Summary: 1 Stars
I have had other Sansa products and they were always a bit quirky so when the Ipod Shuffle I used for listening in my truck came up missing it was natural to pick a Sansa. It had everything I wanted... oh if I had read the reviews. Shuffle feature - forget it. It always starts with the same list. It locks up for no reason and the only way to unlock it is to plug it into a live usb port. Upgrade the software - well if you do it manually it will work but it won't fix the problems. Honestly, I'm not prone to anger but after having the thing seize up over and over again when I am driving I reached my limit this morning. The first time I came back in the house and reset it from the computer. Before I could drive away it seized up again so I came back and reset it with a hammer in the basement. Thirty bucks down the drain but honestly, after all the aggravation it was actually worth it. This item is discontinued and with good reason. DON'T BUY IT. After the shoddy support I found on SanDisk's site - I am leery about buying anything else from them either. Buyer Beware!
Customer Review: Pretty Cool Summary: 3 Stars
I've had mine for about a year and it's still doing well. I only use it very occasionally since I have 30GB player (that is my main player) but I wanted one that I could stick in my pocket or hang around my neck and not be weighed down or have to worry too much (comparatively) if I broke it or lost it. I use mine mostly for the radio and I usually just load my latest favorite CDs on it for MP3 listening. Let me tell you, this thing gets better radio reception than the stereo I have in my living room. My main issue is that it keeps losing my radio presets, but that's not a huge deal (just a little irritating). I'm not sure of the wisdom of having the neckstrap attach to the part that comes OFF the player, but it seems to slide on pretty snugly so I haven't had any issues from that (yet, knock wood). The earbuds that come with it suck, but that's easily remedied. I'm not sure that I would recommend it as someone's main player, but it's a good backup/secondary. For the most part it's a nice little player for the money (if you can get it for less than $30).
