Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Sansa Clip 4 GB MP3 Player (Silver)Customer Review: Little Sansa: Little Monster Summary: 5 Stars
I have had many different series of SanDisk Sansa Players, from E260 to Sansa Fuze. I found all the products of Sansa pretty amazing. I did have Apple iPod, but the quality of Sansa is par beyond excellence. It's slim, small, compact, feature rich, includes FM radio (which I listen to so frequently and can record the songs from FM directly onto my player in good quality audio), voice recorder (for my college classes, but I have to be pretty close to the instructor for very good sound recording) and easy file storage. Yup!!! unlike iPODs, transferring music to these Sansa MP3 Players do not need extra softwares like iTunes, it's just drag and drop, and is also compatible with Microsoft Media Player Synchronization. (However for the video players like the e260 and Sansa Fuze, we do need a converter to convert the videos and photos, but is so easy to use).
Regarding the Sansa Clip, it is a great player with equal sound quality as its big brothers and is so compact and slim and small, I have attached it to my key-ring along with my other keys. I wish there was an internal speaker in it like the Creative Zen Stone Plus, but it's not much of a big deal. It has a bright OLED screen that displays the songs, the artist and albums. When the center button is pressed during the music playback mode, the screen switches to equalizer graphic mode and that looks so cool. I wish it was also able to show the date and time like the other Sansa Players. Lets hope future firmware updates could make it display the date and time.
Overall, it's a great player. Who so ever has bought this would never regret what so ever. And with 4GB of storage and 15 hours of battery life, I am sure you will get tired of listening to music but not the player.
Customer Review: Great capacity/price and function Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great player for the athelete. The clip seems quite solid and should stand up over time clipped to your shirt/belt for exercise (within reason, it's still plastic folks). While it is bigger than the iPod shuffle, it has 4 GBytes and does not require iTunes (and associated mandated QuickTime security exploit vectors) and has a lot more functions. (Playlist, settings, repeat one/all, specific folders, etc).
I use Linux, flawless operation. Plug it in, screen comes up asking if you want Amarok to control the player and you are done. I haven't had the chance to run the battery down because I am still adding music, but several hours the battery indicator still showed 100%.
Pro's
Easy to use, playlists are not that hard to create, small size, built in clip, essentially weightless (this won't add to your mile time, lol). At least with Linux (don't use Windows, others comment?), it works exactly as a flash storage device, so you can carry your Music (organised by Amarok) as well as your pictures, files, etc.
Con's
Well, always true, the included headphones are "adequate", but using my upgraded in ear headphones.
Volume with upgraded headphones is good, however, if using with an FM transmitter, get a good rated one, because a low power transmitter with this might mean low radio volume.
Neutral
It comes with a 5" (or so) USB cable, so it dangles from the front of my desktop, without reaching the desk, but again, it is so light, this won't be a problem. If, however, you need to attach to the back of your machine, the included cable will be a pain.

Customer Review: Sansa Clip: great little mp3 player Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a small portable mp3 player that I could take with me to the gym. I have a Sansa e260 which I like for general use but seemed a bit bulky when working out. I picked up the Sansa Clip 4GB (Silver) when it was on sale and have had a good experience with it so far.
It was easy to set up (connect to computer via USB cable) and load music. I used the "sync" feature on WMP and also tried the drag and drop method with no problems.
I chose this over an iPod shuffle because of the extra features (it is also the same reason I picked the Sansa e260 over the first generation iPod Nano). The radio feature and the display are the extra features I like most. The menu is basic and fairly intuitive. The radio is easy to set and I get decent reception for most stations but find the signal is weak in the office.
There is a voice recorder but I haven't needed to use it yet so I can't comment on the quality. I also don't use the ear buds that came with the unit (I have small ears and they just didn't look that comfortable). The sound quality is pretty good with the Sennheiser CX300 and CX500 ear buds I use.
Below is a list of things I don't like about the player:
1. The reflective surface is nice but attracts fingerprints. I use a silicon cover to protect my Sansa Clip but I can't enjoy its shininess.
2. The headphone jack is on the side. It's a bit odd. The ear buds I use have an angled jack so I don't find it that big of a deal.
3. The USB cable it comes with is very short (maybe 6"?). I use a laptop so it works for me, but you will need an extension if 6" is too short.
Customer Review: Headphone jack doesn't fit properly Summary: 2 Stars
I was very hopeful about the Sansa Clip: it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for, features-wise. I'm very disappointed, therefore, that the workmanship is such poor quality. The headphone jack's contacts must have been improperly installed, because they're misaligned. Out of the box, if I plug the headphones in all the way, there's no sound. The headphones have to be balanced in the middle, very precariously, in order to get sound. This results in the music skipping as the headphones get knocked out of place by motion. On my first player, I couldn't even walk with it without the music skipping worse than my beat-up middle school knock-off Walkman. I got in touch with Sansa customer support and they quickly arranged an RMA and sent me a replacement unit. The second one fits a little more snugly, but still not fully in. It's ok for walking, but my main intended use for the player was in my car. That's impossible - even the "better" unit gets the jack dislodged with every little bump or pothole. It's completely useless in a car. Looking back through some of the comments I see I'm not the only one to have this problem either.
My other complaint is with the playlists - one of the main reasons I chose the Sansa over, say, a Shuffle, was the ability to create playlists. My problem is that when I create a playlist and sync it to the player, the playlist shows up but shows as being empty (despite the music being on the player). And this is using Rhapsody, the music player Sansa partners with.
Overall, a very disappointing purchase: I can't use my Sansa Clip for the main purposes I intended.
Customer Review: Nice Summary: 5 Stars
I have had my Sansa for a few days now and I'm pleased with it. I had to upgrade from an iRiver iFP-880 that was hideously outdated and had a small capacity. There was suddenly no way to upgrade firmware for that, so I decided to go with a huge capacity MP3 and chose the Sansa based on reviews and price.
Being a creature of habit, I have certain albums that I listen to repeatedly. I have hardly any space used on this 4gb player with about five albums, so I will have to dig out more discs and fill it up. It holds a ridiculous amount of songs, just what I wanted.
There was also the issue of music for my truck without replacing the stereo in there. I picked up a cassette adapter and it works great with this player. Now I can bring my music along and will never have to make a mixed tape again! Heh.
I paid $59 for this clip, which is an excellent price for the 4gb. I wouldn't consider an iPod of any kind because of their music subscription unfriendliness. Drag and drop is the way to go, and I just use Windows Media Player, as the tiny Rhapsody disc that came with this seems pointless, I didn't install it. I also did not need any sort of video player, and it's getting tough to find anything with no video capability.
This is a no-frills player, easy to use and small sized. I do agree with one other comment about the volume switch being in a bad spot, I'm always hitting it when I unplug the headphones. The earbud headphones aren't my favorite either, but that's irrelevant.
All in all, I would recommend this MP3 player to anyone, it was exactly what I wanted and more.
