Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Sansa Clip 2 GB MP3 Player (Pink)Customer Review: Sansa Clip 2GB - Great MP3 Value and Performance! Summary: 4 Stars
The Sandisk Sansa Clip 2GB is a great value MP3 player. It has twice the capacity as the iPod Shuffle for about $50-60. It also has a screen, FM Tuner, voice recording and more. You can get the 1GB version for $35.
Pros -
+ good sound
+ nice capacity for a decent price
+ light-weight
+ FM tuner (20 Presets)
+ voice recording
+ nice design with more color options
+ Nice format compatibility (MP3, DRM WMA, WMA, Audible)
+ USB 1.1 and 2.0 connectivity
+ Can be used as a USB drive / mass storage
+ Can sync music with drag & drop or via software
+ 15 hours battery life is better than Creative Clip Plus
+ Integrated Clip means no add-on case / lanyard purchase needed!
Cons
- larger body than the 2nd and 3rd generation iPod shuffles
The new Sandisk Sansa Clip has the advantages of the iPod shuffle with some of the compatibility, feature, and price benefits of other MP3 players. Unlike the Sansa Express, which you can plug in directly into your USB port, the clip uses a standard USB B cable.
The Clip is definitely a little bigger than the iPod shuffle, but not by much. It has a great feel and a nicer clip. It is also priced VERY well for the holidays. It fills the market for a starter MP3, workout unit, or gift.
The rechargable battery seems better than the Creative Zen Stone Plus and gives you a respectable 15 hours. The sound is nice. The earbuds are passable for beginners but most people will replace them. As for durability, only time will tell; so far it's holding up nicely.
I definitely recommend the larger 2GB option. For those needing more space, you will have to explore the Creative Zen, Sandisk Sansa, Sansa View or new iPod Nano. All of those units have higher price tags.

Customer Review: Great MP3 Player Summary: 5 Stars
SanDisk Sansa Clip 2GB Mp3 Player (Black)Sandisk 2GB Pink Sansa ClipSandisk 2GB Red Sansa Clip
My wife has a 1st gen Nano. I haven't owned an MP3 player other than my phone, but I wanted something tiny for exercise and I didn't want to buy anything for myself that was that expensive.
I saw this item when looking at other Sansa items. I happened to see it was going on sale the next day at Best Buy Black Friday ($35). My wife was out shopping and picked one up for me. I loved it. I went back to the store on Saturday and bought four more to give as gifts.
It is much tinier than the other Sandisk flash players with the same capacity. I wouldn't choose those over this player. The item is light enough that the clip really holds it on my clothing. The plastic clip mechanism looks like it could break if you sat on it, but mine is too new to tell how durable it is. The rest of the device seems solid enough.
The screen is bright, as are all OLED screens. OLED is a display technology that is relatively new to the consumer. It does not look like an LCD, as you would find on a typical MP3 player, but instead like a car radio's plasma or LED display.
The 2 GB is fine for my use to hold 300 or so songs. I accept the compromise of only having 2 GB in exchange for the size. It's still much smaller (and lighter) than my wife's first generation nano. Plus, if I ever get tired of what's on there, I've switched to listening to the radio. The radio is acceptable, but your reception may vary... take in mind that this is a tiny player and doesn't have a big antenna like your car. It works fine for me. I've noticed that the reception improves once the screen shuts off after 10 or so seconds of not pressing buttons.
I went through a series of steps to attempt to make my wife jealous of my new toy.
1) Dance with the tiny item clipped to me - no response.
2) Share the earphone with her while listening to the radio - "Oh, it has a radio?"
3) Share the earphone with her will replaying the same radio that I just recorded - "What? you can record the radio"
4) Share the earphone with her while replaying her voice that had recorded earlier - "I want one."
Recordings are saved to a *.wav file.
You do not need to install any software to Windows XP to use this player. It mounts as a USB-based hard drive and you copy files to it. The Best Buy version comes with a disk that I did not install that was a digital music store. One reviewer said that the disk was not Vista compatible. Don't use that as a reason to not consider this player if you run Vista because the player itself should work like a USB drive.
One last feature is that you can use the Sansa Clip as a USB flash drive if you bring along the 10 inch USB mini to standard cable to connect the player.
Executive summary: If you can accept the 300 song limit, buy this player.
Customer Review: Nice player. No included AC adapter for charging--uses USB off computer. Summary: 4 Stars
I thought about getting a player with video capability, but since I mostly just want to listen to music I decided to save myself the extra expense. Plus I wanted something compact and video playback would make the player larger.
I purchased this little 2 GB player on sale at Office Depot for around $40. It was also availble hot pink and classic black--I got the fun hot pink--yeah, I'm female. The player is feather light and is a big plus since I want to use it while exercising. I had a great set of earphones so I haven't use the ones that came with it and can't comment on them. I haven't taken out a ruler and actually measured it, but it looks to be about 1.25 inches wide by about 2 inches tall and has a belt clip on the back.
The display is small but easy to read, with bluish lettering on a black background and the battery status displayed in yellow toward the upper right corner of the screen so you can see how much power you have left.
Set up was easy and it can be synched with Windows Media Player making your music file transfer easy. Music files can also be dragged and dropped. Windows (I am currently using XP Pro) had no problems detecting the player once it was plugged in and I imagine Vista will prove equally easy. Sound was good for both my MP3s and FM radio. The FM radio can store up to 40 preset channels, which you can edit and can auto detect channels for your initial set up if you wish to go that route. The player also supports WMA, secure WMA, and Audible audio file formats. Music files can be organzied by album and song genre and you can make playlists for your listening pleasure. The unit can also act as a recorder.
I haven't used it long so I will edit these comments if I run into issues down the line, but so far so good. The one con is that it charges using the USB port on your computer, so you have to remember to put it on to your computer when it is on. It can use an adapter for charging, but it does not come with the player so must be purchased separately.
The player comes with a software disc for those who want to use Rhapsody, but I haven't installed it and don't use that service so I have no comment on the included software and if are any associated issues. I prefer to listen to my own favorites or to the FM radio. Thanks to Amazon for providing some free MP3s that we all can download. So far it has fit my needs nicely and the 2 GB can store hundreds of MP3s so I am happy with my purchase.
Customer Review: Great for using at the gym. Summary: 5 Stars
The Sansa Clip is the perfect MP3 player for taking to the gym. This was my first MP3 player and it took me a little while to appreciate it. Now it stays in my gym bag and has replaced my radio and my CD player for using during workouts.
At only 2GB, this may not have enough memory to be your primary MP3 player, but it definitely will hold a good variety of workout music and/or an audio book for listening to while on the treadmill, elliptical trainer, etc. The feature I didn't notice for a year is the FM radio (I didn't sit down and read through the instructions to figure out all the features). My gym has televisions in front of the cardio equipment and broadcasts the audio on FM frequencies. The FM radio in my Sansa Clip doesn't get as good reception as my portable radio but it is good enough for all but one of the stations at the gym (and that channel gets poor reception even on my radio).
The reason I prefer the Clip to my larger Sansa Fuze for the gym is the small size and the clip. I clip it to my t-shirt or the waistband of my shorts and don't even notice it. When I bring my radio or my Fuze, I have to put it on the lip of the machine or in the water bottle holder and worry about knocking it to the floor. The Sansa Clip is only a little bit larger than the Shuffle (from that "other" company) but it has a screen so you can select the song/album you want rather than having your music just shuffle. That is very important to me.
The only thing I didn't like was the ear buds. They aren't the best quality but I don't care for the feel of ear buds so I bought some headphones to use with it.
One other caution: don't lose the charger cord. The insert to the Sansa Clip is much smaller than with the Fuze or other MP3 players so you must use the charger that comes with it.
