Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk SDCFX4-4096 4GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card

Customer Review: Excellent speed and capacity for a D300
Summary: 5 Stars

Extremely versatile (good storage capacity, high transfer speed for 25 MB NEFs) memory card for my D300. I have three of these and I prefer more lower capacity cards than fewer higher capacity cards. I highly recommend using extreme IV cards because, if you shoot RAW and 14-bit on a D300, the files are around 25 MB each and high-speed transfer cards are a must for your kit. You can store around 150 14-bit NEFs on a 4GB card. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Slow stuff.
Summary: 1 Stars

I hated this card. I usually use a SanDisk 2 GB Extreme II CompactFlash Card and I made the mistake of assuming (yes, big mistake) of thinking that the new series 4 would be faster than the series 2 that I was used to. It was sooo much slower. It ruined my shoot. I ended up tossing it aside and puling out the old stuff. I returned it and am now waiting for my refund. We'll see how that goes.

Customer Review: 40 MB/second read write!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Twice as fast as the Extreme III.... you'll need the fast, firewire reader from Sandisk to achieve that, though... these robust cards last many years, get the fastest so they will work in your future cameras! It comes with a CD containing RECOVERY software should you screw up. What a great price! Holds 247 RAW images from the Nikon D200 or THOUSANDS in .JPEG form.

Customer Review: Sets the Standard
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this card to go with with Nikon D700, my first camera to support UDMA. As other reviewers have noted, this card line is fast and reliable. In my own experience, I can see the D700 buffer flush faster that with older, slower cards. If your camera does not support UDMA, you'll be just as happy with the much less expensive Extreme III or older cards.

Customer Review: Fast and reliable
Summary: 5 Stars

Sandisk never gave me any troubles and I use their cards for many many years. This one is outstanding, fast, reliable card and size is just about right for my 5D. I use a lot of sandisk cards from all generations and really depend on them because I shoot weddings and cost of cf card failure is painfully high. I plan to switch to extreme 4 completely soon.
