Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk ImageMate 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader SDDR-89-A15Customer Review: So friggin happy not to have to use USB cords anymore!... Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, I just now received this SanDisk card reader, and immediately connected it to my USB port. I first inserted a Compact Flash card, and then a SD (Secure Digital).
AND, it came up on my monitor FAST!..
AND, no need to use the disk that came with the reader. Just plugged it in, and that was it...
But, I'm using an Apple Mac computer, so for all you PC amateurs, you just may have to first insert the disk first.
But, for just $25.39, I now no longer have to mess with the various other camera wires when I have to download from my camera. Yes, in case your wondering, I've got five digital camera's and the cards are: Compact Flash...XD.....and SD, so this reader can read 12 which is great in case I wish to purchase another friggin camera,
at least I know now that I have a card reader that can do it all.....
So, in my humble opiniion, if you've got more than one camera and take a fair amount of pictures, its extremly easy to just insert your card into this great reader, so, now you know how simple and fast it is...
!
Customer Review: Amazing!!! Do Not Install Software...No Need Summary: 5 Stars
This is an amazing little multimemory card reader. I was so confused on which one to get, and spent 3 days trying to figure out the one that would be the best. This is definitely the one to get. AS stated by alot of reviewers, There is no need to install any drivers..This is the best part as it will work on anyone's computer. All you do is plug it in, and it will show up as 4 different drives, because there are 4 different slots in the card reader.. then, all you do is click and drag...The transfer speed is AMAZING!!!! I've never seen anything so fast..It's so much faster then plugging your camera into your computer and then transfering photos through software...It's definitley worth it to take out the card and put it into the sandisk because it transfers photos at incredible speeds. I have had this for a month now, transfered, thousands, yes thousands of pictures.. This is the best investment I have ever made. After Taking pictures for an entire day, I would transfer all the pics to everyone's laptop with ease... A definite must buy!!!!
Customer Review: Grrrreat Card Reader -- Perfect With Several Different Types Summary: 5 Stars
Having recently gone through nightmarish pains with an Iogear card reader that couldn't even detect the presence of cards half the time, the Sandisk ImageMate 12-in-1 has been a godsend. So far, I've used it to download pictures off of 4 different types of memory cards -- a Memory Stick, both Type I and Type II CompactFlash cards, and an SD card. It worked quickly and painlessly each time.
Set up was also painless -- I plugged it into the USB port, slid in a CompactFlash card, and it showed up on my desktop. The end. What more could I want?
The only caveat I will throw out there is that I work on a Mac OS X (10.4.7) system, so I can't make any guarantee about older operating systems or, of course, PCs. A CD with drivers and other support software also comes packaged with this reader, just in case. Even if your system ends up requiring you to download drivers or something from the Sandisk web site, though, it's worth a little extra effort. This is one terrific card reader. Good luck with it.
Customer Review: great if you don't already have a built-in card reader Summary: 5 Stars
I owned the Imagemate 8-in-1 and needed to upgrade because it didn't support many of the newer, higher density formats like SDHC and xD type M. Sandisk has managed to squeeze every popular form factor into 4 slots for the new 12-in-1 and keep the same footprint. In fact, my new reader fits into the old stand no problem. The combination of size and supported formats make this stand out from the rest because 1. it's pretty compact compared to the rest and 2. it supports CF as well as the smaller-size memory cards. I was considering the smaller readers from Sandisk but the 2 alternatives were either solely CF or everything except CF.
It's been a lifesaver at family gatherings when people have 3 different memory card types. We collect all the photos using the reader and then burn a disc for everyone. The reader separates from the stand and there's an included short USB travel cable in the package.
Customer Review: USB Cable TOO SHORT! Summary: 3 Stars
This product would get 5 stars, if the USB cables weren't so short.
The cable connected to the cradle is only 39" long. Most desks are 30" tall. It is simply not long enough to reach from the back of a desktop located underneath the desk to a comfortable spot on top of the desk. STUPID WAY TO SAVE A FEW CENTS, SANDISK!!!
The device comes with a USB cable for laptops, but that too is only 6" long!
Also, the USB cable on the cradle cannot be replaced with a longer cable -- permanently attached cable. A USB cable extender could probably be used.
The mini-USB plug on the device itself is a bit recessed with a narrow opening, so most normal USB cables would probably not be able to plug into it.
Aside from these STUPID shortcomings, the device works perfectly fine.
I might return it, just because I can't get it to reach my desk!
