Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Extreme III 4 GB CompactFlash Memory Card SDCFX3-004G-A31Customer Review: Best yet, no complaints, extremely fast write time Summary: 5 Stars
I am using this with my Canon Rebel XTi. I previously used a Sandisk Ultra II 2GB. I used to have trouble snapping a bunch of pics in a row. My camera would display "busy". I asked a local camera shop and the woman recommend an Extreme III card. I purchased this 4GB Extreme III card and it made all the difference. I can take endless shots in a row as fast as I can possibly take them and it never stops or displays busy. I now know for certain that it was my old card and not my camera. The price is right and makes taking pictures so much easier and enjoyable. I gave it 5 stars because I have no complaints. If you want extremely fast write times, I highly recommend getting this card.
Customer Review: Fastest Card Yet For the Rebel XT Summary: 5 Stars
This is the fastest card yet as of March 28, 2005. Using the data collected at: http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/index.asp in the CF Database. I was able to make a more informed decision. I had my heart set on the Hitachi Microdrive 3GB when initially purchasing my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT 350D. However, after reviewing the results of the write speed tests, I immediately switched to the San Disc Extreme III. For my camera write speed using this CF is 4.888MB/sec JPEG and 6.263MB/sec RAW compared to the Hitachi Microdrive 6GB 3.466MB/sec JPEG and 4.584MB/sec RAW. Check out Rob Galbraith site to help sift through the confusion of which CF Card to purchase for your camera.
Customer Review: Bigger faster card keeps pace with my digital workflow. Summary: 5 Stars
This Sandisk Extreme III 4GB card supports my digital image production very well.
Plugged into the current technology this card enables me to engage the action at full speed.
The larger capacity is such a good fit that I now consign my 2Gb cards to second and third string.
Because I am capturing most images using NEF RAW the size allows me to focus on the many other elements
essential to producing high quality images.
Also allows me to take better advantage of other creative options such as in camera overlays.
The price has come down significantly since my last purchase making this card even a better value in my opinion.
Good luck!
Customer Review: Great Memory card. Summary: 5 Stars
I have two of these and I just placed an order for 3 more (2 for my daughters 20D). I've been using them in my EOS1DsMKii for almost a year with no problems whatsoever.
I was surprised to see a somewhat negative review of the card as neither of the two 4Gb cards that I use or the three 1 Gb cards that I use have ever failed. I suspect that the failure may have been a result of the user deleting images from the card rather than formating the card. Deleting images rather than formating the card will eventualy result in read / write failure. One should always format the card in the camera once the images have been transferred, backed up, and verified to be good.
Customer Review: Great card - fast, inexpensive Summary: 5 Stars
Fast reads, writes, so far its been reliable. I bought it because a lot of my friends use it in pretty harsh conditions (very cold or hot weather, humid conditions) and its held up well for them. I also use Lexar but honestly this card, for the price, beats the Lexar at the same price. Great card, highly recommended. The IV is faster, but the speed difference will only be noticeable if you need to shoot, dump, and re-shoot the same card multiple times for a single event. This card is plenty fast for what I do (journalism and event photography), and I just carry several with me.
Highly recommended, especially at the current price.
