Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Extreme HD Video 8 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDRX3-8192-A21Customer Review: The card is great, but maybe not the seller Summary: 4 Stars
The card comes with a little keychain bag for extra cards, which is very nice, and the plastic case that holds the card itself is really small, just fits the card where some have a lot of space around the card. This makes it much easier to fit into my little camera case so I always have a spare card with me. SanDisk is pretty reliable and this card seems to be no exception. It's really fast. I'm using a 12mp point and shot camera and there is no noticeable lag between shots.
I haven't used the software that comes with it, but it's suppose to help recover lost photos; so I'm giving the software to my cousin (who is always misplacing his photos).
This retail package is great. Not much, if any, more expensive than the card alone and you get so much more.
Now the dealer is a little different story. I ordered two of the same card, but they sent me one of these and one Compact Flash. I was time pressed to send in my UPCs for a rebate, yet the Adorama wanted me to return the card they sent me incorrectly , wait until it was logged in and credited to my account before they would send me the correct card. They are in NY and I'm in CA, so we could be looking at weeks. Of course the rebate would no longer be available. I gave them my credit card number so they could charge me if they didn't get the card back (which I didn't like in the first place, since I now become responsible for paying for their mistake if it didn't reach them) and even then they would not send my the card I paid for, so I could make the rebate on time. I was pretty disappointed. So I canceled the second card, I'm returning the card they mistakenly sent me, via UPS and hope they get it so I don't have to pay for it.
Customer Review: discontinued, do not buy Summary: 1 Stars
The combination of the SDHC and the MicroMate Reader has been discontinued by Sandisk. I had the same experience as the other one star rater. J&R knew it, but I can't believe they still sell it at Amazon. If you ordered it, you would only receive the 8Gb SDHC card. When I emailed J&R, this was what they replied:
"The only thing that is supposed to be included with your order is the memory card. This item does not include the MicroMate reader. There are different items that include the MicroMate reader. However, the prices vary. With Amazon order's we are unable to make any changes to the order, and we are only allowed to exchange for something of the exact price. If you want to exchange for something of a higher price we would need a form of payment."
You have to pay shipping for return, and you are not suppose to open the box. In my case, I opened the box and then realized there was no reader. I ended up negotiating with them and got $5 refund. Very deceiptive seller. Don't understand why Amazon wants to have anything to do with them.
If you really want a SDHC card and a reader, buy them separately.
Customer Review: Great price for the best of the best Summary: 5 Stars
After doing research on 8gb SDHC cards, I concluded that this one was rated the best overall, and I was delighted to find it at such a great price from a reputable vendor--unlike some who advertise low priced items only to try to 'bait' you into buying ridiculously over-priced 'accessories'. I have learned to ALWAYS do a web search on the vendor BEFORE ordering from them, regardless off their low prices...like typing in "Ratings on Acme Photo", then reading others' experience with them. Saving $5 or even $50 is not worth dealing with shady characters. A slick web site can be produced by a computer savvy adolescent, so you cannot go by that. You'd better check out their business practices before you give them your credit card number! This vendor proved to be A-OK...no calls with bullying sales pitches, no delays (trumped up 'back-orders' in obvious retaliation for not buying one of their scam items) and very fast service. The only minor flaw was that the packaging was poorly done, but a memory card is in a blister pkg so it wasn't damaged--so I give them 5 stars and would not hesitate to order from them again.
Customer Review: Fast Card, Includes RescuePro Image Recovery Software Summary: 4 Stars
Prior to this purchase, I had been unwilling to plunk down the extra $$ for the "Extreme" SanDisk cards. Didn't seem worth it, didn't think I would notice any difference, etc. I happened to see the 8GB Extreme card on sale one day, so I ordered one.
When I record video clips with my cameras, it definitely flushes them to the card much faster than it did with my regular old everyday SD cards... I use it with a Nikon D90 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) and a Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Blue).
One nice extra that comes with the Extreme cards is the "Rescue Pro" image recovery software. Hopefully I won't ever need it, but nice to have it, just in case.
For the average digicam user, I couldn't say that it is worth the extra bump in price, but I am happy with mine.
Customer Review: Purchased for Use With New Canon T2i Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this for use with my new Canon T2i. This fast card gives me much better performance when doing continuous shooting and video than did the Class 4 cards that I used with previous camera. I still have a number of those cards that can still be used for single shots, but anytime I contemplate continuous shooting or video I immediately change to a faster card.
With a fast card, Class 6 or Class 10, you get more shots in a burst and photo quality is better than with the Class 4. I found that out using the Class 4 cards before the faster cards arrived. Camera performance and quality also much better when shooting video, which manual said required at least a Class 6 card.
There are cheaper SDHC brands than SanDisk, but SanDisk has a reputation for high quality and I would prefer to pay a little more to help insure that at the end of a shooting day I have all my photos. Amazon seems to have the best price for these cards,
