Customer Review: Very nice..only for a month though...

I bought this because of two reasons. Huge capacity (8gb) and Capless design (Never have to worry about loosing a cap). I really enjoyed using it and really really liked it. But sadly and luckily, it stopped working exactly after 30 days (I bought it from Bestbuy, which had 30-day return policy. SO I at least got my money back although what's stored inside was priceless....!!!) I ALWAYS use safe removal feature of the Windows. I saved all my critically important data and documents, but the device just wouldn't be recognized. Not even a "Device not recognized" ballon on the lower right hand corner when plugged in. It just refuses to be recognized as if nothing is inserted into the usb port!!. Tried every possible way to retrieve the data, but ended up loosing all my experiment data. Should have done back-up regularly. Hope others had a better luck with this device.Customer Review: Not as described

I just received my flash drive yesterday and was disappointed with what arrived. When I opened it up, the packaging was very plain and did not mention U3 anywhere on it. When I put it in a computer, I found that it was just a plain blank flash drive. The packaging looked retail, but I am concerned it might be a fake or knockoff product, and the transfer speed is incredibly slow, especially when you're moving lots of small files.
I'm using this on Windows 7, which says it could use the drive for readyboost, but I think this drive is running much slower than specifications. I used to have an 8gb HP flash drive that I bought for about the same price, and I would definitely recommend that product over this one. The only difference is that it has a somewhat loose cap, but I prefer the high transfer speed over the wobbly slider on this flash drive anyways.

Have been using this 8Gig USB drive for few months (replaced Sandisk 4Gig). Works great, no probelms in using and (so far) zero hassle in using.
So why 4 stars and not five?
-Does not come (at least in my purchase) a round-the-neck lanyard. Maybe this was a error in the original plastic packaging but without this, worried about forgetting it.
-I cannot get rid of the pre-installed software on this. (As soon as I plug in via USB, it "pops up" a message and then my (Vista) PC displays the device discovered message. I have tried to uninstall the software to make the USB drive a "dumb" device but after three attempts (format, erase and using the device software's uninstall programme), nothing works.
Otherwise, have used Sandisk in past, all have worked great and I really have recommended this to friends as an ideal backup solution.

The SanDisk 8 GB Cruzer Micro USB Drive is made to be compatible with Windows Operating System. The limitations placed on the SanDisk 8 GB Cruzer Micro USB Drive pertain to this fact. I sometimes find that the SanDisk 8 GB Cruzer Micro USB 2.0 Drive will not show up on my PowerBook 17". It is still a valued piece of equipment for its large capacity and the actual USB Key that can be withdrawn into the unit, for safety and portability. Buying through Amazon was much better in terms of economics then buying locally. I simpy wish that the Micro USB Drive had come with more compatibility information pertaining to use with Apple OS X. I still recommend use of SanDisk 8 GB Cruzer Micro USB drive for those in the market for a USB drive. No matter what the OS. Best Regards.

I bought this flashdrive as a way to carry my writing between computers as my own computer crashed and I am forced to use the library and friends systems. It has worked wonderfully and is so durable I couldn't believe it.
My sister tried to be nice and wash the bag that I carry back and forth while I was sleeping. She removed everything except the Cruzer (which was in a hidden pocket) and sent the bag, drive and all, through the washer and dryer. We were certain that it would be ruined, but imagine our surprise when I booted the drive up and it was in perfect condition! None of the information that I had copied (i.e. 300 pictures, 138 songs, 1 partially finished novel and various short stories) was missing.
I will definitly order another drive from this company when I need it.
