Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Cruzer Micro 512 MB USB 2.0 Flash Drive (SDCZ4-512-A10, Retail Package)Customer Review: High review level for an outdated product Summary: 5 StarsI got this years ago and am now reviewing, hence the 5 stars. When I bought this, it was extremely useful, and was relatively large for it's data storage. These days 4-8 Gigs are standard, and 16-32 Gigs arethe larger ones that can carry a damn large amount of data.
Wit this being a late review for an outdated product, just consider this as a review for SanDisk and their products. Today, this would probably be equal to a 4 or 8 Gb flash drive, which are extremely useful.
Customer Review: 512MB Cruzer Micro Flash Drive (Review) Summary: 5 StarsI don't know if I can generalize too much about the SanDisk's Cruzer Micro(CM) line of flash drives, since I only own the 512MB flash drive.
But from my personal experience with the CM-512MB, I will say that it's a very good flash drive.
Pros
-------------------------
+ Very Sturdy and Robust: Throughout the 6 years that I own the CM-512MB, not once did it fail on me. It really surprised me too, I can't recall how many times it got soaked due to rain or how many times I dropped it. And just recently it survived a trip to the washing machine and dryer - With all my data intact!!
+ Beautifully Design: It's small, slick, and has a nice blue led backlight. But what I really like is how the metallic case and clear rubber/plastic coating is nicely incorporated in the design to provide both looks and protection.
Cons
-------------------------
- Mediocre File-Transfer Rate: If your looking for a flash drive fast transfer speed, then this might not be the one for you. Well, compared to the new flash drives now-a-days, my CM-512MB is a little slower than the competitors.(HOWEVER, I don't know if SanDisk improved upon their CM-flash drives over the past six years that I own my CM-512MB, so this might not be a fair criticism).
- A bit pricer than the generic brands.
Other Thoughts
-------------------------
- DON'T BUY the CM-512MB ($7.99 as of this review on Amazon?! That's Ridiculous!!), I think you can get a CM-2GB for the same price on Amazon (I just bought a CM-4GB for $11, and you get a CM-8GB for $25, shipping included).
- If you're thinking about a flash drive of 16GB,32GB,64GB and over, consider buying small external hard-drive. You can get a compact 320GB external hard-drive for about the same price as a 32GB flash drive.
- If you're going to buy a generic brand flash drive, be sure to read reviews both Positive and Negative reviews about them. I know most generic brand flash drives are cheap, but depending on the manufacturing company, their probably more prone to failing or crashing. So keep an eye out!! (I'm not saying generic brand flash drives are bad, I'm just trying to say keep an eye out for the bad ones.)
Customer Review: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 512 MB Summary: 5 StarsThis product arrived fast and in perfect shape. It is great and works perfectly for my intended purpose of data transfer in and out of Windows 98se computers.
Customer Review: Sturdy and long lasting Summary: 5 StarsI have had one of these SanDisk 512MB drives for well over three years. It stays on my keychain and takes a beating. The cover was lost during the first month I had it. My keys have been dropped in a stream while camping, in an ice cooler full of beer, sat out in the sun at the beach, been thrown and dropped a thousand times, and this thing has never failed. I have never lost a file on it or had any corrupt data. I have read reviews that later SanDisk items are less sturdy. I have wanted to buy a 2 or 4 gig drive but they look flimsy compared to my iron clad 512. Mine has part of the metal casing through the key chain loop too. Others look like its just plastic and apparently break. This one won't. It is only 512 MB, but if you want indestructibility, this is the one you want.
Customer Review: buyer beware!!! Summary: 1 StarsThis seems like a good buy until you go through the checkout and find out they charge more per piece for shipping and handling than the item costs!!! $3.99 for the flash drive $4.00 for the shipping. I can get it cheeper at Office Depot with a teachers card or pay the same at Target,Walmart,Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, etc. SHAME ON YOU!!!
