Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ6-4096-A11

Customer Review: The Sandisk Cruzer Micro 4.0GB Flash Drive ROCKS!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Sandisk Cruzer Micro 4.0GB flash drive because my sister lost the one I had lent her and the replacement she purchased for me shortly thereafter was not backwards-compatible with Windows 98 -- the computer that hosts my ProMetric beam cross-sectional analyser (a [...] test instrument that sees frequent use for my website at [...]) runs this OS. Needless to say, it performs absolutely flawlessly!!! I couldn't be more satisfied. It was only when I went to write this review that I saw other users of this product who were dissatisfied with it. Mine did *NOT* come loaded with any extra software to "throw a monkey wrench into the works" as it were (which I would most likely have deep-sixed anyway), so I have no complains in that department.

I'll be publishing a brief, quasi-informational web page about this product at [...] on the morning of 05-16-10 (or "16 May 2010" if you prefer).

Customer Review: This is a good flash drive.
Summary: 5 Stars

Ok, first of all, I'm not going to tell you how amazing this is or that you would be stupid not to buy it, or anything like that, because honestly, its just a flash drive. It is a good one: it works, and its pretty cheep for a 4 gig, but honestly, why do people make such a big deal about a flash drive?

Anyway, It is just what it says it is. Also, a lot of people who rated it 1 star said that they don't like it because it automatically installs software. well don't be fooled by that because what they don't realize is that thats the driver so that the computer can run the flash drive. all flash drives do that.

My one complaint may be that it doesnt always lock into the open position very well, but it's only a minor issue. I would recommend this flash drive if you need a new one. (It also has a keyring for a keychain, which i know that that's a big deal for some people.)

Customer Review: Took effort to work in Vista
Summary: 3 Stars

Initially couldn't get this drive to work in Vista. I have the 2gb version which worked fine, but the 4gb wouldn't work. I called tech support and they said wait for a vista driver. Eventually I downloaded a hotfix from Microsoft. Now it works. Frustrating as hell though. I was close to bringing it back.

If you're stuck like I was, try this:

Right click on "Computer" and select Manage.
Then choose Device Manager
if you see a u3 Cruzer drive listed with a yellow icon on it, right click and select uninstall, then stick the drive back in the computer, go through the windows installation wizard. It will fail to find a driver, then there should be an option for windows to find a solution, follow that, a website should open with a link, follow that. I wish I could be more help but I clicked through all this too fast and I can't find the page anymore. Good luck.

Customer Review: Very Nice Flash Drive... no U3 support for Mac Users
Summary: 4 Stars

I needed a good flash drive that would stay on my keychain and not require a separate cap that could (and would) get lost. So I like the retracting USB port, just be warned that you have to hold the slider with your fingernail to insert the USB connector into the port... it doesn't stay extended on it's own. I also wanted a drive that had a medal post for the keychain connector, because my last one was cheap plastic that broke in the first week. So far so good after a month.

Also, being primarily a Mac user, the U3 features are useless for me since they only run on windows. most of the software is freely available to download off the net anyway (like Skype) but the idea of being able to run apps off the drive could be useful... but 4GB wouldn't be enough space for this purpose in my opinion. Mine is mainly to backup files between work and home and for that it works great.

Customer Review: Info you can't get rid of!
Summary: 1 Stars

I have this product and the first thing it does is try to install software. Even when you tell it "no" it will keep the software on the stick and you have to delete it manually. We noticed when inserting this product into a digital photo frame that it puts horrible unwanted clip art on the frame as part of the slideshow. The clip art is NOT on the frame itself. I deleted all of the frame's stock photos in its memory. After deleting U3 and everything off the Sandisk stick, I STILL get this annoying chinese astrology clip art with words written in chinese popping up in the middle of the photo frame's built-in slideshow. I have NO CLUE where this clip art is coming from, as I deleted EVERYTHING off both the stick and the photo frame. What a crappy product!! If anyone else has this problem I'd like to know. Or if anyone's figured out how to get rid of this, even better!
