I purchased this thumb drive to make my music inventory portable. Also, other files I would like to access on various computers (standard thumb drive use) are stored on it.
I was able to download iTunes to the thumb drive and run it from there, playing the music stored on the drive. This was important to me to be able to have the music available at work, at home, or while visiting someone.
I am pleased with the drive, however, being in a plastic case, it seems a bit flimsy. I also own a 1GB Cruzer Titanium. I have drop tested the Titanium successfully from about 8 feet to a concrete floor. I would dare try that with my 16GB Cruzer.
The rate of transfer of data is a little slow, but adequate. Playback of music is seamless.
I highly recommend this device!

I read many of the reviews here about this flash card memory and decided to spend $35. I was ready to do away with the u-3 software when I received it. It was delivered yesterday and I tried it out and found there was no u-3 software to worry about. Nothing there. I don't know if this is their latest version and maybe because of all the complaints about the u-3, Sandisk just took it out. The only problem I am having is that the only icon that shows up on my screen when I plug the flash into the usb port is one that allows you to diconnect safely. There are no other icons that tell you that it is installed. I have to go to the search function on the computer, files and folders section to engage it. Once that is done it works perfectly and the download speed is really, really fast. Good bang for the buck.Customer Review: Good portable hardware+software package

I used to have the older 2GB version, and had a good experience with that, so I upgraded to the 16GB. It seems like SanDisk has struck the correct balance between a bare bones storage device and something that adds a little extra value through good software. The 16GB version has even better integration of management software and apps than the older 2GB version. I've also found that it's faster than many other USB drives.
Although the setup encourages you to install a lot of useless software, once you pare it down to just what you need, it's a very handy way to have true portability of apps+documents without having to lug a CPU around. In particular using Thunderbird on the Cruzer is a great way to have true mail portability (in the physical sense, not the software sense).

I received this U3 thumb drive fast, so great job with handling and shipping!
This is the third U3 Scandisk drive I have had so far, and they have all performed very well. I like the U3 platform because it is an easy and secure way to store many documents and files on a thumbdrive, and it requires very little input from me to gain access to them. I use the U3 version of Roboform, System Info for Windows (SIW) and Open Office.
There was one issue that I had with this unit, and this unit only. I had to re-install the U3 program several times before ti actually worked, but once the program burned onto the drive, it has worked flawlessly.
Great drive, great shipping with the only downfall being the U3 program not working correctly for a few times.

While U3 offers many pre-configured applications for portable use, which you have to pay for, I personally create my own. It's nice to have my email, my browser, and all the applications that I use on a regular basis on a small USB stick with decent security in case of loss or theft. I originally bought this item at Walmart for 60 dollars. I was pretty pissed when I saw the same item on Amazon for roughly 30 bucks.....Uggghhh. This Sandisk has functioned really well, and using it with apps that I ported myself, it's like having a Roaming Profile in your pocket. The storage space is not bad either, however 16 GB isn't really that great if you plan on using it just for raw data storage. This item is certainly worth the money if you plan on using it the way I do.
