Customer Review: I have to laugh...
Summary: 5 Stars

The product is amazingly good. The company is amazingly great.

I have to laugh at my fellow Americans. How stupid and idiotic are you? Bait and switch? Please! Bait and switch is when you advertise through marketing a certain price to get perspective customers into a store and then don't have the product offered or at the price offered.

This company never put an advertised price anywhere. They have an in store price. If they were a brick and mortar store they would have had a customer show up at the counter and they would have honored the price for that customer and changed the price that instant. Since we are on the Internet and Amazon has millions of shoppers a day coming through the door the item can be brought up to the register 1000 times before a human sees what is going on.

I really wish America was the same country it was back in the 50's. Back when taking hand outs and welfare was demoralizing instead of being the norm and almost expected. You people sound like ignorant communists from the ghetto. Stop asking for something for nothing and go make a dollar or two.

Customer Review: Will not store images of dogs
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought two of these flash drives for my grandfather for his 82nd birthday. A longtime computer user and animal lover, my grandfather has been accumulating a large database of images of dogs in a folder on his desktop for over 10 years. With hard drive space running low and a decade of work in jeopardy, it seemed like the perfect time to give him a quick, simple solution to archiving his project for longevity.

Boy, could I not have been more wrong.

This flash drive works perfectly in every way, except IT WON'T STORE PICTURES OF DOGS! I click on his folder, drag it to the drive, and I get an error message saying the disk is full or write-protected! I tried copying individual images one at a time and got the same message. I even tried downloading new images of every different kind of dog I could come up with, but still no luck. I am finding this very strange because pictures of cats, ferrets, reptiles, etc. all seem to work just fine, along with pictures of cars, tomatoes and small leaves, and even funny sound clips from the film "Kingpin." Has anyone else had this problem?

Customer Review: Excellent and dependable flash drive
Summary: 5 Stars

For someone who remembers those 5" floppies, the fact that we can now carry 16 GB of data around in our pockets is still incredible. This particular drive, the 16 GB SanDisk Cruzer, is excellent. I got a 2GB SanDisk several years ago, and found the brand so dependable for day-after-day use, that when the time came that I needed more capacity, I got the 8GB and now the 16GB with complete confidence.

In several years of use, of saving, editing, deleting, re-saving, and traveling with these flash drives, I have never experienced the slightest hiccup in performance. I take them back and forth between computers, PC's and Apples, and my data is always there. I also have never experienced a problem with having a computer not recognize the drive (although documents created on Mac are often not accessible on a PC, but that is due to the nature of the PC, not the drive).

They aren't the pretties drives out there. They have no bells and whistles. But it is a functional design and solidly built. And, when it comes to my data, what I want is dependability, and that is what I get.

Customer Review: Expected to honor mispriced items? I think not.
Summary: 5 Stars

One reviewer wrote:

"Retail stores are expected to honor prices when products are mis-marked, and online stores should be held to the same level of accountability. Just because they have the luxury and capability of being able to simply "cancel" an online order does not mean they should be allowed to do so. Canceling the orders of dozens of customers is poor business practice, and should be reviewed by Amazon."

Nothing could be further from the truth. A consumer may expect a retailer to do honor a price, and retailers sometimes do honor mis-priced items, but no retailer will honor a price when to do so would cause them a serious loss or put then out of business.

Retailers are under no legal obligation to honor mis-priced items. An offer to sell is not a legally binding contract. Retailers may cancel sales for any reason, though it does seem pretty poor practice that no reason was given by Amazon for the cancellation.

Lastly, it would appear that the pricing error was made on Amazon's part--should the retailer be expected to honor that?

Customer Review: Great product though removed included software
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used the 16GB model for several weeks now. Performance is fine (no complaints). I had no use for the included software so immediately removed it. The throbbing light doesn't do anything for me either :-)

I'm somewhat dismayed that Windows XP Pro won't format the drive as NTFS. Only FAT32. I'm going to format using a different utility and set it to NTFS so that I can store large files on it.

It works great when plugged into my Lenovo ThinkStation running Ubuntu Linux also. And since Debian derivatives support NTFS I expect that to work great also. I was tempted to format it EXT3 but then Windows wouldn't be able to handle it. I really need it to work for both, as it is my primary method of transferring files between my Windows laptop and Ubuntu desktop. Certainly a LOT faster than using pscp to copy the files and I don't want to set up Samba for sharing with Windows due to security risks involved. So I guess you could say that I consider this SanDisk Cruzer Micro 16 GB thumb drive as a great, secure way to transfer files.....secure as my pocket at any rate.
