Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Cruzer Micro 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ6-016G-A11Customer Review: Exactly what I needed Summary: 5 Stars
I just got mine in the mail today and it's already done everything I needed it to do. My vacation pictures were on one PC and I needed to move them to another. Some reviewers were disappointed with the speed of this drive, but that's no issue for me. Not like I needed to sit and watch its progress. I noticed that loading the pix onto the drive was slower than loading them from the drive to the other PC, so I guess I see what they're talking about, but it just doesn't bother me. It took about 20 minutes all told to get 600+ large photos moved. I'm not complaining. If I'd had more photos, there would have been plenty more room for them, and that's what I care about. I was looking for disc size, storage capabilities and this one does the trick.
Customer Review: My XBOX 360's best friend Summary: 5 Stars
So I have a PS3, wich I love BTW, but all my nerd friends have 360's. They would rant and rave about how wonderful the games were and would lend them to me, "If only you had a 360." So when the new 360 slim was announce I jumped and got an arcade for about $100.
The only thing I needed is space to download games and save demos & such. As I already have a PS3 for my day to day gaming and media centering, I thought buying a proprietary $100 hard drive simply didn't make sense, so I ordered one of these memory sticks.
After a 10 second format, I was up and running with 16 GB of space. It's been great for day to day gaming and has enough room for 2 standard games (3 if you're lucky) it's been a total breeze. Totally recommend.
Customer Review: Like a candy bar on the floor, it's OK after you wipe it off. Summary: 4 Stars
The first time you plug this drive into your machine, it will immediately start installing drivers and screwing with your computer settings. You may ask yourself, is this really necessary? Fortunately, the answer is 'no'.
Go to the SanDisk website and search for the software remover. You only have to run it once. It will automatically wipe the software installed on the drive, after which you're free to format it as you choose. It's a shame some people will probably leave that unnecessary software installed on their computers, taking up space and making simple things complicated. As a power user, I can't stand stuff like this. But on the bright side, a few minutes work will earn you a perfectly good 16Gb USB drive for under 30 bucks.
Customer Review: It works Summary: 5 Stars
What is there to say about this type of device.
It works. I don't know how to rate performance.
It plugs into a USB port and is recognized immediately.
I can save to it, I can cut and paste files from and to it just like I would with any other drive.
I'll probably never fill it up, since the one I had previously was a four gig, and never had more than two gigs on it, that I can recall.
I'm thinking about buying another one and putting my entire music library on it, since I have a Ford with a USB port, and accidentally discovered that just by plugging in the USB drive to do a software update, it started playing every sound file on the drive.
Maybe I can use it to have my entire library at my fingertips.
Customer Review: Two stars for quality.... Summary: 2 Stars
We use flash media in my current job (in the thousands), so I get a good sense of failure rates. This drive was used very sparingly for less than a year and babied. A week ago this drive died without warning. The controller completely died, leaving me without any options to salvage any of the data.
I have never had a controller die. I have had flash corruptions and other issues, but never a complete meltdown of the controller.
This is now costing me $120 for a data recovery service to try and salvage some recent files that weren't backed up yet.
Very frustrated first time Sandisk customer!
I recommend finding a drive with a Phison controller, they are rock solid in my experience...
