Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer Titanium ( SDCZ7-2048-A10, Retail Package)

Customer Review: All my files earased, gone.
Summary: 1 Stars

I've had this for a few months now and it was working great. I loved the sleek metal design and the fact that I didn't need a cover. I thought the U3 software would be a cool feature, but it ended up being an annoyance that I never used at all and may have contributed to the downfall of this device. Just yesterday I notced that all of my important files are gone, earased and the only thing left is a folder of some fonts that I barely use. I am so upset, I lost a lot of work somehow and I don't even know how? This never happened with my SanDisk 128mb mini cruzer.. all of my files/homework from when i was in college are gone along with my senior project I worked so hard on. Luckily I have back ups of other things I had on there but I do not have back ups of my college portfolio work or my project. I just remembered other stuff I had in there that I lost, i don't even want to think about it... I think I'm gonna go cry now..

Customer Review: Synchronizes encrypted files quickly.
Summary: 4 Stars

The only reason I don't give the Cruzer Titanium 2gb five stars, is because it seems to have too many features! I only use it to store about 1gb of data, several thousand files now over 12 years, including all my Outlook emails, all my pdf, WORD, and WP data files, and about 1400 photos so far, but I wanted 2gb to be able to handle an increasing number of files over time. It takes awhile, maybe ten minutes or longer, to load that much data into the Cruzer. I use the encrypted function. However, once loaded, when I come back some weeks later, the Cruzer sychronizes very quickly with the files in my desktop, like maybe 15-30 seconds, deleting the ones I have deleted from my desktop and adding the files that I have added on my desktop. I have two of these Cruzers loaded with my desktop files, because I rotate them to always have a relatively updated one in my safe deposit box, in case of the unlikely event of fire in my home.

Customer Review: Product does not match description-Unwanted software
Summary: 3 Stars

Hi,
I really like the fact that I am getting an opportunity to voice my concerns about this purchase, I am really extremely satisfied with Amazon otherwise.
I had specifically ordered San disk 2 GB flash drives WITHOUT U3 software. I don't need U3- I and would rather not have it.
The order arrived and I see that all 3 of the flash drives have u3. To confirm I actually went back to my order and checked that the product details make no mention of U3.
I am not sure I can uninstall that or not without destroying the drives. I really needed to use the drives at that point of time else I would have returned them.
I expect a lot better than this from sellers on Amazon, to send me what I order not foist extra things on me.
I would really appreciate it if you can tell me how to uninstall the U3 without harming the data on my flash drives.
Thank you

Customer Review: Good durable USB flash drive
Summary: 4 Stars

Pros: Durable, I keep mine on my keychain and after about 6 months it looks pretty much like the brand new one I just got. Slide design means no cap to lose, and because the USB connector is within the tough body of the stick, it's nearly impossible to damage the device by force when it's closed. It's pretty fast as well, An informal test (on a slow computer) got 7.1MBps write and 14.5MBps (decimal) read. Under 5 minutes to write a full 2GB and under 2.5 minutes to read it.
Cons: A bit pricey, and there are much faster USB flash drives out there. Slide design also leaves the end of the USB connector open to dust and dirt. Not weatherproof.
Conclusion: This is one of the few USB flash drives I'd feel comfortable keeping on my keychain in my pocket. It comes with U3 utility software which some may feel is useless. There is a utility to remove it.

Customer Review: just okay
Summary: 2 Stars

Cruzer- I got it on sale at Staples for a good price. Works fine, but two things about it I don't like:

1: The U3 Smart software partitions the drive, and you always have this pop-up menu of stuff like Skype and password manager, which you can't delete easily because it is seen as a CD drive (read-only). You have to download the uninstall program from SanDisk, and they make it hard to find. I wasted a good hour on it. Some folks might love the U3 stuff, but I don't.

2: The LED stays lit, whether it's seen by the computer or not. You have to pull it out. When you do, it's very warm from the light- that can't be good for the longevity of the drive. But why not have the light indicate that it's recognized as a drive, and not just powered up? Ya got me.

The retractable gizmo is nice. Keeps the cookie crumbs out of the works.
