Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer Titanium ( SDCZ7-2048-A10, Retail Package)Customer Review: A Tech's Best Friend Summary: 5 Stars
People who are looking for a generic, 2GB thumb drive need to look elsewhere as this one is jam packed full of features thanks to the incredibly handy U3 technology. I'm a computer tech and I use the Avast! Antivirus/malware scanner on it almost daily. Not to mention I have tons of other programs loaded on that help make my job easier. I wouldn't work a day without this thing, and I can't believe I went so long without a U3 drive.
Another really great feature is the liquid titanium casing. My coworker has the normal black plastic ones. Although they're just as good software wise, their cases flex under pressure and make a slight plastic squeak. Mine can be run over by a truck and not receive a single dent from it. It's really incredible how sturdy this thing is.
Overall it's an amazing product. The software is great, the drive is fast, the storage is large enough for almost any files I need to transfer, the casing is sturdy and it looks great. Oh, and unlike the plastic black ones that glow orange? These glow blue. Not that special, but hey I'm a sucker for shiny objects/LEDs.
Customer Review: Very good product Summary: 4 Stars
This is the first flash drive I have purchased and had to do quite a bit of research before figuring out what I needed -- a way to store and carry files, photos and artwork -- between two houses and two computers. I wanted to also use it for back-up and security. The SanDisk flash drive is very easy to use and meets all my needs. I especially like the facts that the port connection can be withdrawn into the unit to protect it, and the titanium body is very durable. The only problems I encountered were related to the instructions for use -- they were virtually non-existent and I had to call SanDisk Customer Service which was only moderately helpful. They assume that everyone who buys their product is a techie and knows what he/she is doing so they speak in jargon. It was quite frustrating. For example, there are various SanDisk componenents that showed up on "My Computer" page and it was unclear to me what each was for. I would, however, recommend this product without reservation. I cannot imagine getting anything less than 2GB. I almost sorry I do not get more.
Customer Review: Very Disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
I've used Sandisk products for years and have always had good luck with them. That changed with this product. As soon as I plugged into the USB port of my computer (running Windows XP SP2) it crashed. I tried it on two other machines running Windows XP with identical results (crashed the operating system - blue screen of death). Then I tried it on my laptop which is running Windows Vista and everything worked perfectly well.
I did some research and it appears that the U3 software is causing the problem with the XP machines. I tried removing the U3 software from the flash drive but it appears that I can not completely remove it because a portion is stored in a hidden partition (which ends up reducing the total capacity of the flash drive from 2.0 Gb to 1.9 Gb).
I'm keeping it since it works on my laptop, but I'm REALLY disappointed with the product because of its foul behavior with the XP machines. I'll buy another brand without the U3 software and use a program like TrueCrypt to secure my data (and TrueCrypt is free).
Customer Review: Excellent drive !!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my third Sandisk cruzer micro flash drive (all are working fine). My first unit (Cruzer Micro 512Mb) has been working for more than 2 years as my Keychain without incidents, until I replaced it some months ago with a Cruzer micro U3 of 2Gb (plastic cover).
Now, with this Titanium Cruzer Micro 2Gb in my hand, I'm impressed with the quality of construction and very satisfied with the speed improvement compared with the first generation of cruzer micro.
In some reviews I've read customer complaints (I had some too) about the U3 software included with my first U3 drive.
I think the software has been noticeably improved from some months ago when I purchased the plastic cruzer micro U3.
The U3 software included with the new titanium drive is very stable and trouble free, until now, at least. The software version is not a real problem, due it's very easy to update from the U3 application directly.
At this point I'm only waiting for a Titanium version of 4Gb or 8Gb.
Customer Review: No need to look any further Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned and tested many USB flash drives. This one is faster than all but one I tested ($300 4 GB hardware encrypted drive). Don't mess with the others. I thought that this was the same memory as the regular SanDisk (plastic) but it's not. This drive is about four times faster. I have a soft spot for anything Titanium (even though it's just a coating). I've carried this drive on my keys for a few months now and you can hardly tell. I did make one modification because I don't like the existing split ring for hanging. I popped the unit open and drilled and added a cord to the top so that it hangs better on my key ring. I don't recommend this as it is press fit and it may not stay together after you do this.
PROS: FAST! STRONG!
CONS: Just the way it hangs. I would prefer that the split ring be in the center of the drive, not on the corner.
You can't beat this drive. I paid more than twice as much when I purchased mine and never thought twice about it once I realized the difference.
