Customer Review: Perfect and Hard to Beat !!
Summary: 5 Stars

To all looking for a perfect USB drive with Extra features, if you want to and when you want to...

This is the deal... This is my third one, since I keep selling the previous one with less capacity and getting one bigger...
Also, the feel on this one is very sturdy as well... I would say that is a lot better then my previous one, which was the regular black plastic case.
The U3 program, it is a handy (and I shall say MUST) factor.

If you want the program to auto start whenever you plug it in at your USB port (which takes around 5sec.) you just point it out at the installation of the U3 Launchpad, and I bet most of the users having this problem did not try to run and update or at least go to the settings and check this function.

I have most of the programs I use with this USB drive and whenever I travel and need to use any computer, I just plug it in, and have, all my documents and files (as a regular use of a USB drive) and also the advantage of having my own browser with all my favorites and plug-ins (and cookies and passwords functions as it is set at the USB drive, and not at the computer you are using...), and lots of other programs..

There lots of software to anyones interest, Free and paid for... And all of the ones I use are free !! (open office, firefox, skype, etc)

And if you ever decide to have just an ordinary USB Drive with all the space availabe just to store files.. Just Uninstall it.. [...]

But nowadays, who would not want the REAL Upgrade you can get with a USB Drive.. This the perfection...

To me, it is a regular Usb Drive most of the time, just transfering documents... But sometimes, I go ahead and start the U3 Launchpad and start using the programs I need, without worring about leaving trails and information at the computer behind...

And more.. You have all sort of data protection with it, in case it is stolen, lost or someone want to get the date out of it for any purpose....

Think again and you will see that this is the Future of USB drive... Just learn how to use and you will not want to have just a regular one anymore...
U3 is a must ... Once you get used to it...
Take your time, instead of just listening to people who over react to something that is new...

As I mentioned at the beggining.. You decide what you want..
Regular USB or a Real portable system with all the information at any computer...

Perfect choice... :-)

Customer Review: Great Item, Perfect for College Student!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just recieved my SanDisk 2gb Cruzer Titanium today via UPS, on the exact promised delivery date. I was stupid enough to order it the weekend of labor day, but it's fine because the wait was extremely short. As usual, Amazon is a leader in sending products out in a timely and efficient manner, making the end-user wait as little as possible.

And now onto my review..

After feverishly tearing open the package of the flash drive, I inserted it into my computer to find a pleasant video demonstration of how to use U3 software. I don't know about all the others who complained that it took up too much space, or make their flash drive crash, or anything along those lines, but I found the U3 software extremely easy to use, very user friendly, and very helpful. I am a college student, and with the high level of security and monitoring on college computers, I wanted a flash drive with a large enough capacity to house portable versions of my favorite programs (Firefox, Open Office, Trillian, etc.) to be able to run them right off the flash drive, and not worry about leaving behind any traces on the college computer.

I also like the fact that it comes with built-in password lock security features, and a very simple, fast, and user-friendly password managing software. Overall I have no complaints over the amazing service, speed of delivery, and FANTASTIC price of this item! I will surely do business with Amazon.com in the very near future.

As far as the physical aspects of the flash drive go, I have a SanDisk MP3 player with the similar "LiquidMetal" casing, and this casing does not scratch for ANYTHING. I've taken my car keys and pushed them as hard as I can into the casing and it will NOT scratch. With that being said, I have no qualms about it being dropped or subject to any shock. This is a VERY sturdy and well-made device.

Just as a side note, I went to Staples today and saw this EXACT flash drive for $54.99 + tax..and I was astounded as to how I bought the EXACT same one for $19.99 + $6 something shipping and handling, and that is surprising because the price is now $25..so I guess I ordered it just in time and saved a few dollars.

Only semi-negative thing I would say would be that it comes with a hole FOR a lanyard, but no lanyard is provided! Just a minor thing but some people may find that inconvenient.

Customer Review: This will corrupt your computer!
Summary: 1 Stars

Sometimes when you read Amazon User Reviews and they are negative - you think, . . .well, maybe they unfortunately got a `lemon'. Well, this was one item where you can take the negative reviews very seriously.

From the moment I tried to use this SanDisk Cruzer drive I've had terrible problems. And, I am not a computer novice. I build my own computers. The software on this drive installed itself in such a way that it immediately changed several registry and driver settings. I discovered all this when I went to turn the computer back on later.

The display drivers were gone - several other startup applications were gone, the registry rewritten. Some of the Windows XP services had been turned off (such as System Restore!). Long story shorter - even the bios was effected as it couldn't determine any longer where the boot drive was. I didn't have the time or patience to discover what this U3 software completely does when it installs itself to determine whether it had somehow created itself as the boot drive.

I had to do some fancy computer footwork to finally get my computer to a state where I could then go back in and reinstall display drivers, network connections, startup applications and XP services. The computer is working now - but not without hiccups that weren't there before.

Fortunately I do backup my C: drive often enough that I will have the backup rewrite over the current C: drive in order to throughly fix this. - I can't imagine what people would do who don't have the experience level to do all this damage control.

Yes, I've read from some that say - just reformat the SanDisk Cruzer drive, get rid of the U3 software on it (the culprit behind all this, . .) and use the thumbdrive as usual. However, this drive initiates itself as soon as you insert it into a USB port. I'm not willing to chance corrupting my computer again - while I attempt to get to a point where I could reformat the thing.

I'm going to test it's `titanium' strength vs. a sledge hammer.

Customer Review: Almost Perfect
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been a big fan of USB drives ever since they started coming out about 5 years ago. They have made zip drives and floppy disks obsolete. Through the years, I have owned about a dozen different kinds from different brands. Compared with others on the market and all the USB drives I have ever owned, the Sandisk Titanium drive is among the best. Here are the reasons why:

Pros: It is built tough (titanium coated) to withstand thousands of pounds of pressure. No other on the market has this feature. The read and write speed is consistently fast. It has a small form factor (though there are others that are smaller), The blue LED indicator light is nice, it's price is a bargain for the quality, and it's highly reliable. The retractable feature is also a nice touch. I really like that there's an option to delete the pre-installed U3 software on the drive.

Cons: The silver surface scratches surprisingly easy and
makes it look dirty (and no longer shiny) when scratched. The drive could be even smaller. In fact, the first generation micro USB drives from Sandisk were smaller! Although, this 2nd Generation drive is about a third smaller than the original titanium drive. Other metallic color options would be nice... instead of just silver.

Conclusion: This drive is the Porsche of USB/thumb drives... and yet it's
now affordable. The price is about half of what it used to be when it first came to market. It's also reliable, tough, well built, and attractive. If they could somehow make it a bit smaller and scratch resistant... it would be perfect.

Note: If you like this drive but don't like the silver metal color, the Sandisk micro drive is almost identical but is made from black plastic instead of titanium coating. It also has an amber colored LED instead of blue and is also less expensive. Size, Shape, and Functions are the same.

Customer Review: A great drive... when it works. :(

I bought one of these and it worked magnificently for a good 6 months before dying. Sandisk's technical support is awful. They told me I would receive an RMA email within 2 working days, but it took 7 days, 3 phone calls, and a fax to receive it. At least they paid for shipping back. It took 3 weeks to get the replacement.

The replacement drive died the exact same way after 9 days. The tech seemed skeptical about the fact that the drive had died of it's own accord after just 9 days. After going through the exact same tech support procedure I went through for the first drive, the skeptical tech asked me to take the drive to Radio Shack to have it tested there. Are they kidding? I didn't even buy the drive from Radio Shack. Radio Shack's just down the street, so I humored him anyway. The Radio Shack guys laughed because they couldn't do anything -- they aren't allowed to plug foreign USB keys into their computers. The guy inspected the USB pins and said they looked fine (I didn't expect otherwise, the drive had only been plugged in maybe 10 times total).

I called Sandisk back, and the tech support guy said the previous tech had written a note in their content management system saying he had told me to go Radio Shack to have the drive replaced. Replaced? I didn't even buy it there! After clarifying what I had actually been told to do, the tech insistently asked that I go through the entire testing procedure again, despite having just gone through it not half an hour earlier. Finally, they reluctantly submitted an RMA request.

I want to love this product because it seems solid and it works great when it works. But to have my second failure in 6 months is an unacceptable rate of failure, and Sandisk's technical support is horrid beyond belief.
